Non emergency stretcher transportation?

Does anyone know of a car company that will do non-emergency stretcher transportation? I have a friend (and her hubby) who is going on a Disney Cruise next month, but because of her condition when she travels by car she tires very quickly and needs to go in a stretcher if possible. They found a plane that can bring her down, but needs to find a car company to get her from the airport to one of the All Star resorts (they are taking a few days to settle in before the cruise leaves, so she can rest up a bit, on the cruise will be in her wheelchair). Then again from All Star to the port..

Any help would be really appreciated!! I know that if Boise has such a thing, surely Orlando does too, but its hard to figure out how to look it up online... you get a confusing MESS on the searches!

Thanks,

Heidi

It only takes an hour to an hour and a half to get to the port and back. Would she be able to travel on a regular motorcoach or sit in her wheelchair for that length of time? Gosh...what does she do at home? I'm sure there are companies that provide this service though, but just don't know any names or numbers. You might start with a google search of Orlando non emergency stretcher transportation and see what comes up. ---Kathy

Most private ambulance services, at least here in Texas, can provide non-emergency transportation. I don't know the cost, though.

My friend is an incredible young woman. She has recently come from a several month hospital/rehab center stay, and is working to get some of her energy back. She lives life to the fullest extent that she can, and has made such an impression on me to help my son do the same. She is able to be up and about in her condo doing her own needs, but sitting up in a car really tires her out, laying down is better for her. Who knows how long any of us have, she intends to make the most of every day. (we are going on the cruise as well, along with several other families who have difficult and serious health issues... we are going to have a BLAST!!!)

Thanks,

Heidi

This may sound strange, but a stretch limo might work. They tend to have a sideways facing seat that runs almost the length of the rear compartment, so a person can lay down and stretch out on it.

You might look up the various limo companies in Orlando, both at their web site pictures and also talk to them directly.

BTW, I am copying this entire thread, to this point, to the Transportation Forum where you may get additional responses, as well as leaving it here. So check both forums for answers.

That might be the best option.
The non-emergency stretcher transportation places would probably be much more expensive than a limo.
