Right, now I've had me holiday, we don't need to talk about Disney quite so much anymore (it'll remind me it's nearly 2 years till me next visit).

So I thought what about yer favourite trips outside the land of sun, bucks and frozen Margarittas.

Here's mine ;

European Destination - Lido de Jesolo (I'm common!)

British Destination - Norfolk Broads

Weekend break - York

Daytrip - Blackpool (still common).

Oooh Dave that's made me think!

European Destination - Puerto Pollensa, North Majorca (I'm just as common as you are!)

British Destination - North Devon

Weekend break - Alton Towers (too far to do in a day for us)

Daytrip - Thorpe Park.

No yer not, I've seen yer and yer lovely and ladylike.

We like Puerto Pollensa too though, so maybe yer a bit common!

Great thread Dave :)

European Destination - Lanzarote, Canary Islands

British Destination - Cornwall

Weekend break - Disneyland Paris

Daytrip - Lakeside or Bluewater! Well, you did ask ;)

European Destination - only ever to Disneyland Paris!

British Destination - Jersey

Weekend break - Stratford upon Avon

Day trip - Alton Towers or Cleveley (a bit mucky, but well it's the sea!)

...........I find it very difficult to choose! Is the Lido de Jesolo common?? It's right near one of my fave cities, Venice :)

European Destination - somewhere in Italy!

British Destination - Cornwall/Devon.......but not when there are too many grockles about!

Weekend break - Disneyland Paris

Daytrip - London

_________

European Destination - The Algarve

British Destination - Scottish Highlands

Weekend break - Somewhere by the sea, probably Cornwall in the Spring/Autumn/Winter, Summer is just too crowded

Daytrip - Stratford on Avon

European Destination - Alcuida, Majorca (also common)

British Destination - I haven't ever really had a holiday in the UK except Norfolk Broads, which I didn't enjoy, but I quite fancy Devon, or the Cotswolds

Weekend break renting a Cottage in Derbyshire with my family - we do this every year and always have a superb weekend. or a close second would be the Holiday Inn at the MetroCentre with the UK Dis Northern Meet crew.

Daytrip - in all honesty, it's probably the MetroCentre- but if I am trying to think of somewhere classier than that, then loads of places in Northumberland - we like Warkworth (Castle and town), Cragside House and Wallington Hall.

European Destination - Olu Deniz, Turkey - just so picturesque and gorgeous food with very friendly people.

British Destination - Cornwall, a large contingency of my family live there and I spent all of my childhood summer holidays here and keep going back - I have to go to Mevagissey at least once a year

Weekend break - I couldn't choose between York or Bath I love them both

Daytrip - Bourton on the Water in the Cotswolds just beautiful

OK here goes. If I HAD to choose something other than Disney this is it:

European Destination: Costa Teguise, Lanzarote. Lovely climate and just love that Volcano.

British Destination: North Wales (Anglesey) Beautiful, empty rugged beaches. Shame about the climate though!

Weekend Break: Dublin. We have friends there and visit when we want to enjoy a drink fuelled weekend with no sleep. :jester:

Daytrip: Blackpool. One hour from home and if you go at the right time you can ride the 'Big One' for £1.

Not too classy eh?

Great minds think alike Sam!

We also love Olu Deniz in Turkey. The Turkish people are the friendliest I have ever met.

Also agree with Cornwall for the UK.

Weekend break - New York (Are we allowed outside the UK for this one?)

Day trip - Can't have Bourton-on-the-water as it just a few miles down the road from us. Probably a trip to London, preferably to St Katherines Dock for a DIS Meet!

New York, New York...... so good you posted it twice eh Kev ;)

Mazzy, I forgot about Jersey - I'll alternate that with Lido as me European choice (coz you get there by boat or plane).

Bev, Alcudia was out first foreign holiday and we still have fond memories of it there.

ShirleyBob, Lido's common when I'm there and what the heck's a grockle????

A grockle is a West country term for us touristy type folk :D ......... they have also been known to call us "emmets" too  an old word for ANTS!! ....... and a derogatory name for us touristy type folk

Well here are my Choices!!

European Destination - Definately Istanbul - DH is from there so we get to visit often and i just love the East meets West feel of the City and the Bosphorous is just stunning!!! We were lucky to stay in a old palace which has been converted into a hotel over Christmas and our balcony was right on the water it was fantastic!!!

British Destination - Never really been on a holiday in the UK!! We did have a great weekend In Dundee and Edinborough a few years back but i would like to see more of the Country!!!

Weekend break - Disneyland Paris or somewhere in Italy

Daytrip - If i am shopping than definately Bluewater otherwise i really like to Legoland or Thorpepark.

Eda

How did I miss this one?!!

European Destination - Holland (Going back to my roots!). As Kev's been allowed an outside Europe one I'll also have to say Cairns in Australia if I'm allowed too!! :)

British Destination - Hmmm, tricky one, really not too sure, does going to stay with my best mate in Essex count?!!!

Weekend Break - Across the channel to France, a chance for a great meal and the opportunity to hit the hypermarkets big time!! ;)

Daytrip - Has to be London (back to my roots again!!)

There's been some great answers on this thread, certainly given me some good ideas of places to visit!!

How common am I, I haven't even heard of Lido de Jesolo, but considering Shirley's comments I'm gathering it's in Italy!!! (btw. when I went to Venice it rained - like there wasn't enough water there already!!!!)

European destination: Courchevel in the French Alps. My favourite ski resort, and probably the place in the world where I enjoy myself the most.

British destination: South Wales: the mountains of the Brecon Beacons, and the coastal areas around the Gower and and Pembrokeshire are wonderful.

Weekend break: Disneyland Paris (where else ;) ). An easy journey by train for me; a weekend in DLP has the same rest and recuperation value as a week anywhere else.

Day trip: This is a tough one, but I think it has to be my house. I spend far too little quality time here in sunny Hampton, so when I have the luxury of a day with nothing to do I really enjoy a quiet day at home.

Regards

Rob

You're obviously missing WDW already, dave!!

Anyhgow, here we go:

European.............. Silves on the Algarve. in the foothills of the Monchique mountains, we rented the same villa 3 years on the trot ( pre WDW ).......fabulous area, great people....and the best banana cake in the world at the Cafe Ingles ( see, food always comes into it.

British Destination..... North Devon. Took the kids there for their first 3 holidays, wonderful memories, not least 'cos at 6 months and 2 years of age they were a while away from discovering that you don't need to spend money to enjoy yourself!!

Weekend Break.........Edinburgh. Juliet has family near Stirling, so we always stop in Leith to do shopping on Princes Street, plus the hotel we use gives a great view of the Royal Yacht Britannia

Day Trip........Anywhere that has National Trust on it!!! I WILL get full value out of me membership.
