Hello. SO and I are going down to WDW and will be doing the Deluxe DDP (and we can't wait! ), but we'd like to do one sort of extra-extra special meal while we're there, so, of course, our first choice is Victoria and Albert's chef's table. But, of course, we might not be able to get that during our stay, so we have a few choices for backups, none of which are on the DDP. And we'd like to solicit your opinions as to which of the backups you think is the best. Thanks! :thumbsup2

What are your "back ups?" :upsidedow Nevermind, there they are!

I chose Emeril Orlando because if it is even half as good as the one in Las Vegas it will be awesome. I have eaten at all the others that you have listed and my second choice would be Shula's and I am not a big steak eater but this was very good. Wasn't impressed with Bistro and Blue Zoo. Tchoup Chop we had lunch there one day and weren't impressed. The food was good but would have been great if it came out hot. There were only 4 tables full at a late lunch and a full kitchen staff so no reason for the food not being what it needed to be. The service was seriously lacking.

If you don't get the chef table just try for the regular restaurant at V&A that beats them all with the exception for the meals we have had at Emerils in Vegas. The dining room at V&A's is also more romantic then the chef's table

Interesting. That I didn't know. I guess I can see why. Thanks for the info, Joan1! And thanks, also, to all of you who have voted. It seems that, at this point, bluezoo has a slight lead, and that's the restaurant I was leaning towards if we can't get V&A's. I anxiously await more opinions! :)

Shula's!!!!, We have never been to Emeril's but loved Shula's. The atmosphere is candle lit and very romantic. DH and I had 3 waiters caring for us. The only downfall is the portions are huge. 2 people can definantly share any one of the side orders (potato, salad etc.) And the molten lava cake is the best desert in all of WDW.

Yes, Shula's does sound good, that's for sure! My only issues with choosing this are a) we'll have already done Yachtsman earlier in the week, b) we have some pretty phenomenal steakhouses within two hours of where we live (Jag's, Jeff Ruby's Carlo and Johnny's, and especially Lexington, KY's Malone's), so it might not seem all that "special", and c) I'm unsure if they prepare their steaks Ruth's Chris style (i.e., served on a sizzling-hot plate), and I just do not care for Ruth's Chris. I mean, don't get me wrong, Ruth's Chris isn't exactly inedible, it's just I think a great steak needs to rest for about ten minutes at room temperature to let the juices settle. Plus, I like my steaks rare-medium rare, and, with the Ruth's Chris method, my steaks always seem to come out closer to medium.

Anyway, thanks so much for the input! :goodvibes

I didn't vote, because the only restaurants on your list that we've been to are Emeril's. We've tried Tchoup Chop twice & weren't impressed. Out of 9 appetizers, entrees, & desserts, my DS's filet was the only thing we've liked. OTOH, we go to Emeril's @ CityWalk every time we go to Universal. We've never had anything that wasn't wonderful. IMHO, TC wins for atmosphere & it's cheaper. Emeril's wins for everthing else, including superior food & service.

I'm enjoying viewing your poll. We plan to eat at Bistro & bluezoo on our next trip to WDW.

We don't care for Ruth's Chris either and Shulas is nothing like that at all

I chose Emeril's Orlando. We eat there every year we go to Disney on the night of our arrival. Although expensive, the food and service are worth it. And it is better than the one in Vegas...the one in Vegas has slipped in our minds and we no longer go to that one.
