We are staying at GCH, but just for one night. We want to have a decent, filling breakfast before starting our Magic Morning...but are not interested in a character experience. Where can we go for a good breakfast, reasonably priced, and open early enough to get in and out before Magic Morning starts? I've heard mixed reviews about the food at Whitewater Snacks, so I'm not sure it would be a good place to go. Maybe someplace in DTD since the DLR restaurants won't be open yet?

In DTD, I think a bunch of places do.

I've heard of people going to HOB gospel brunch and RFC for breakfast.

However I think more people would recommend Carnation Cafe inside DL.

I'm confused...can you get to restaurants before the park opens for Magic Morning? Park opens at 10, Magic Morning is at 9...we'd want to be at breakfast by 8:00.

I'm not sure about 8am. You might want to call (714) 781-3463
and ask, that is the DLR dining reservation number.

I know the get in early trick works at Minnie's and I suspect it does at Carnation Cafe too. But I don't know if they open as early as 8 when nobody is let in until 9. Or if you can reasonably sit down eat and be done by nine. Honestly I would eat outside the park earlier. If the park opened at 7 or 8 I'd suggest having breakfast in the park at 10.

Probably not the cheapest...but what about La Brea Bakery? They have breakfast sandwiches, etc. and it's right next to the security area of DL. It's counter service w/tables inside and outside. If you go there and you're running late, you have the choice of grabbing something and go....if you're on time, you can sit and relax.

So it's in DTD, but close to DL? I'm having trouble visualizing where everything is in relation to one another, eg DL, DTN, GCH. I will try looking at some maps.

Thanks!

La Brea Bakery is very close to the security check point before you enter the Esplanade. It'll be be between the Esplanade and WOD, I can't remember what else was there.

Always been told, don't waste your first two hours of the morning in the park eating breakfast when the crowds are light, by the time you finish the lines will be long, if not the breakfast lines also.

I'd check to make sure it's open in time, but my family is partial to breakfast at the RFC--it's usually both tasty and well-priced.

I definitely agree with this piece of wisdom! I would go with your plan of trying to eat before you get in line. :thumbsup2

I made a reservation for Rainforest Cafe at 8 a.m. on a Magic Morning Day. I am not actually doing the Magic Morning, but I am sure that I would be finished with the breakfast in plenty of time if I was. When my breakfast is over, I plan on spending the time taking pictures, and just enjoying the atmosphere of the Disneyland Resort, before the park opens at 10 a.m. It is the last day of my vacation. I love Rainforest's breakfast. I have eaten at the one at Animal Kingdom in WDW, but this will be my first breakfast at the Rainforest in Anaheim.

To answer your question about La Brea Bakery...it is the very first shop that would be considered in DTD. It is the closest to the entrance of the parks that you can get. When you exit GCH at DTD, if you go to the left that will bring you down towards Rainforest Cafe. If you go to the right, you will see La Brea Bakery on your right, just as you approach security. Once through security, DL is on your left and CA is on your right.

Whitewater Snacks would be a good choice if you're going to CA first thing in the morning. There's an entrance directly into the side of CA right near Whitewater Snacks.

I haven't tried RFC for breakfast, so I can't comment on that...but I do agree with the previous posters who have said to not waste your time at breakfast when the parks are the least busy. Even if the parks open at 10, it takes a while to get through security, etc.

If you do RFC, I'd suggest entering the park at the monorail and taking that into the park.

I depends on what you consider a nice filling breakfast, but even Jamba Juice has steel cut oats topped with fruit - pair that with a smoothie it's plenty filling for me!

I think we will do either Whitewater Snacks or La Brea Bakery Express. We should be able to get in and out of either one in less than an hour, I would think. Thanks!
