I heard last night on the radio that several Canadian Universities are taking in students who were supposed to be headed to school in New Orleans and other Katrina affected areas. I imagine it is a mad scramble for so many university kids to try to find a place to go now that their education has been so suddenly uprooted this week before they were supposed to start! Not only LA residents but kids from around the US. I hope a network has been set up to link students with accepting schools.

Universities in Texas are also opening their door and not charging evacuees out of state tuition.

Pennsylvania universities are opening their doors to them and the public schools have made the offer.

The University of Oklahoma has offered to accept students from hurricane affected areas.

www.tulane.edu has had updates by I believe the president of the University stating the qualifications and such for students if they would want to get credit later on from Tulane. Pretty much any accreditited college elsewhere will get you credit at Tulane should you choose to return.

We have been following the Tulane story as DH's cousin's DD goes there. She will be starting at American University in DC on Monday.

Our local colleges (JAX, FL) and schools are accepting students whose schools were closed due to Katrina. (both gulf coast and and south FL)

I read that FSU and UF, along with smaller schools, are also accepting students.

Yep, UT-Austin is taking in any students who graduated for TX highschools, plus are taking in graduate students and faculty so they can use our research facilities (our dept. just took in 2 new members). Rice and SMU are also taking in as many as 300 students.

A few of the schools in Oregon are taking students as well.

Several MA colleges and universities are taking in local students as well.

Baylor is opening their doors, as is our seminary for those at New Orleans Theological.

All Florida start schools are accepting students from the NOLA scholls. University of Miami is also accepting them. FLorida state universities will be charging instate tuition from what I have read. As far as I know all So Florida colleges are back in session.
