NOLA gets awarded a USL Championship team starting in 2025

I couldn't tell you. But we have sooooo many bars and event spaces, I'm pretty positive that whoever's interested organizes get togethers at whatever their favorite venue is. There won't be any shortage of public spaces to watch, that's not a problem for pretty much anything.
If the supporters do the traditional pre match march (basically a parade before every match) down bourbon street that would be awesome.

They'd be more likely to do it down Decatur or Frenchmen. Those are where the locals go. Most people who live here tend to avoid Bourbon like the plague unless they work there.

Well, that's the perfect place to put it, right by the Convention Center. Of course, now we'll have the same kind of traffic on game days that we already do when the Saints play at home lol
What’s around that area that people enjoy?

Everything lol. That area is right by the cruise terminal, a few blocks from the WWII museum. It's half a mile from Harrah's Casino, and just over a mile from the French Quarter. There's all kinds of restaurants and bars in every direction. And hopefully this will be an impetus for them to finally get the Riverfront streetcar open again, there's a stop right by there so it would really help with traffic. It's been closed since the Hard Rock Hotel collapse in 2019, and they've been working to reopen it but the date keeps getting pushed back.

Soccer is community driven, so projects like this usually get developers to get to work asap. When the NOLA team starts play in 2025 or so, MLS will probably play them in preseason friendlies or the US Open Cup. That will help your city gain popularity among soccer supporter groups nationally. I do hope in the future you will give the team a chance by attending a match one day in the future. :-)

I might. I used to play as a kid, and one time my team got chosen to play during halftime at a Tampa Bay Rowdies game. I didn't hate it lol

I’m curious, has the local media/sports radio talked about the new team at all lately?

I don't listen to sports radio, so I couldn't tell you. Local media, we just passed Mardi Gras and that was all-consuming, and I haven't seen much in the past few days.

Thanks. I was just trying to see if there has been any public reporting on the stadium news. :-)

I'm sure there will be tons of local reporting when it gets closer. But this is very much a "live in the now" city. Between now and 2025 there will be two French Quarter Fests and two Jazz Fests and two Satchmos and two Saints seasons and two Pelicans seasons and another Mardi Gras and, and, and...So it feels REALLY far off right now, as far as the news cycle.

NOLA might get a 2023 Gold Cup match this summer or at least a big USMNT friendly within the next 2 years, so exciting soccer events are very likely in NOLA’s future. That means more partying as well.

What do you think about the rumored stadium location?
I think it’s probably a good location as most things are down there. However, we probably won’t attend. Don’t have much interest anyway & definitely wouldn’t fool with going downtown for it.

That area is currently the staff/vendor parking for the Convention Center and some industrial properties, mostly it's garages and storage yards. The fun places are now several blocks away, and some of them will require walking under the bridge approach, where the taxi/rideshare waiting area for the Convention Center. The tall buildings that are on the plan don't exist now, so I would guess those are going to be residential towers that will be sold as having river views (but I'm not sure how many people really want to live high up right between the US90 CCC ramps and the power plant smokestacks; but the plant has been decommissioned. Apparently it's supposed to be renovated into an entertainment complex, but NOLA has a bad track record with those.) Kern's Mardi Gras World is in the warehouse strip on the riverfront south of the convention center, and I imagine that if they can stay there, they will entertain quite a lot of the fans.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned, I don't think, is the great growth in the hispanic population in the NOLA area since Katrina. I suspect the sponsors are counting on those folks to form a big part of the fan base.
