I live in NOLA and I agree with all of this. We back the Saints no matter how awful their season, and I'm sure we'll support a soccer team as well. But yeah, I have no idea how popular soccer is here in general, so I have no clue how that translates monetarily.I’m from Nola & have no idea. But I will say nola ppl are very proud of Nola so I can see ppl supporting any competitive sport that represents Nola. Now, how much ppl are willing to spend money wise, I couldn’t say. And if it competes with other major sports like the Saints’ or Pelicans’ seasons, it would get less support.
Would you go to a game?I live in NOLA and I agree with all of this. We back the Saints no matter how awful their season, and I'm sure we'll support a soccer team as well. But yeah, I have no idea how popular soccer is here in general, so I have no clue how that translates monetarily.
Depends. I'm not much of a sports fan generally, but if friends wanted to go I'd probably tag along as long as it didn't cost a fortune.Would you go to a game?
Tickets for pro soccer are some of the most affordable in the country. Professional soccer in the USA is similar to a college football atmosphere. Tailgating and supporter groups bring a non stop party atmosphere. Chants and songs formed organically are part of what makes the sport great.Depends. It's a reference to what we call "New Orleans time." Waiting for a streetcar? It'll be here when it gets here. Thinking a Mardi Gras parade is about to start? Grab another beer and some crawfish and relax, it'll start whenever it wants to. It's just one of the many reasons we've been called the northernmost city in the Caribbean. That free-floating sense of time also extends to everything from road repairs to new construction. Can someone from NOLA explain the joke? Are delays that common?
In the North we call that our “tax dollars at work” with a joking tone. If things are really delayed, we say our “taxes must be taking a holiday”.It's a reference to what we call "New Orleans time." Love it! The parades on Mardi Gras day are typically about 3-4 hours long, plus always super delayed getting started. One time when I didn't live here, I was staying 20 minutes outside the city for the holiday. Got up around the time the Zulu parade was supposed to start. It was raining off and on and I didn't know if I wanted to fight traffic and pay for parking, versus just watching on TV. But after some coffee and a shower, at least an hour later, the rain let up and I decided to go for it. Made the drive (closer to 30 minutes with traffic), found a parking garage, walked down to the parade route...and still managed to not only catch over 2 hours of it, but also get the most prized throw, a coconut (they hollow them out, paint fancy designs, and hand them to people they choose rather than throwing them into the crowd). IDK about most, but probably a lot will. Another way to show NOLA pride? Sign us up!When jerseys come out, do you think most in NOLA will go out and buy one regardless if they are a soccer fan?
You didn’t ask me but probably not.Would you go to a game?
Don’t forget red tape & corruption. Everyone wants a piece of the profits so that takes a minute to get organizedIt's a reference to what we call "New Orleans time." Waiting for a streetcar? Uh that’s Zulu’s fault that Mardi Gras day is always late! And then it makes Rex stop FOREVER b/c they can’t cross Jackson b/c of Zulu!! So aggravating!Love it!
