I work with someone who will join in the conversation I could be having with someone in my office (which is next to the main office where she works). Or she will lean forward at her desk to listen to me talking to someone. I understand that most people are curious but I wish she wasn't so obvious about it!

I hate that too, I am real sneaky about it

People are rude.

I'm a high school teacher, and students will just butt in and start asking questions while I'm talking with another teacher. I think it may be that some of us learned manners at home.

For the coworker, perhaps pausing in what you are saying and asking her "May I help you?" might get the message across?

For the students? Fresh out of ideas. :(

That would drive me nuts. Could you change cubicles/location?

I think what I will do is put a radio near the door so she may not be able to hear as much.
