Noise levels in townhouses?

Can anybody ease a little niggle in our minds.
We are torn between a 3 bed townhouse in Windsor Hill/Palms or a larger bungalow style house with a bigger pool but slightly further out. We were sent details of a lovely larger house which I had enquired about with the owner via owners direct, after a bit of research we realised it has a (fairly new?) large road beyond a wall at the back of the villa - this put us off, we don't want road noise whilst lying by the pool.
Problem is DH would love to go to more of a gated resort style place like WH or WP but is worried close proximity of neighbors in townhouses. Will our two small children wake up the neighbours if they get up early (jet lagged), will there be a lots of noise outside in the pool next door in the evening keeping our girls up? Are they built well? do you hear a lot of noise through the walls?
Hope somebody can help.

Hmm...well I can assure you you cannot hear your neighbors through the common walls. They are built from cinder block and concrete, and even when we've had the TV or stereo on rather loudly the neighbors next door have said they cannot hear us.

Now outside neighbors in the pools if they're being loud could be heard from home - home. There are "quiet" hours in the resort, I believe it's from 10-11pm at night - 7am. That being said, the "kids" bedrooms are at the front of the townhomes, so they would typically never hear the noise at the back of the homes where the pools are located. Also, at least for us, this has never been an issue, in 5 trips there! I guess anything's possible though, you could get some loud visitors, so not something I can guarantee though, but very rare, the resort is all families taking their kids to Disney, it's not a "spring break" destination or something along those lines.

There is actually a county law against noise during these "quiet" hours, so I know our home's guest book has this information posted, and instructions for calling the local sheriff if someone is breaking the rules. Like I said though, it's never been a problem for us. We swim in the mornings and at night all the time, and the park trips and swimming combined makes for very very tired kids! In fact, we wish we could get them to go to bed as well as they do when they're there while at their regular home! hehe :rotfl:

Ditto what George said. We've stayed in two different townhouses and have never heard a sound inside the house and basically only by the pool when your outside by the pool. Very quiet. :thumbsup2

thank you both fo the info so far.
George, thank you for the info on the quiet hours, that's really useful to know.
I totally agree with you that the children are sooooo tired in the evening on holiday in Orlando - they'd probably sleep through anything!
Just wanted to put DH's mind at rest!
