Noise level of Boardwalk View rooms?

we stay in a BW view villa 2-3 times a year, and the noise has never been a problem for us (we found the multiple instances of all hours yelling in the hallways during our BCV stays much more disturbing:headache:).
if you would prefer a quieter room, requeat a high floor though - it does minimize the BW "music to my ears" :cloud9:.

btw, we have always received an in room notice when they are powerwashing. it is done during the day, starting about 10am.

I've stayed in a boardwalk view several times. The only time I had an issue was when we had a second floor room over Big River. It was June and people were out late carrying on. Other times I've been on 3 or 4 and it wasn't a problem. I always request top floor but only got it once.

We adore BW view and book it every time. I think we must have stayed in BW view rooms at least 30 times so far. If your balcony doors are open you will definitely hear noise. The Illuminations fireworks can be heard even with the doors closed. We have found that closing the drapes makes a big difference. That said, I often sleep on the pullout in the living room so I can look at Spaceship Earth as I fall asleep, so I don't pull the drapes closed. I have heard drunks at 1:30 - 2:00 a couple of times when I was on 2nd floor, but that only lasted a short time. I am an early riser so the boat horns in the morning don't bother me (and I don't think they start until 8:00 or so). If you are a very light sleeper it might not be worth the risk to book BW view (and that will leave more BW view rooms for me to book!) :rotfl2:

We were thinking of trying a preferred room/ garden view. What would be a good request? Anything over by the quiet pool? We so love the BW view but all of the noise has us wanting to try something else. Don't want standard because we seem to get rooms that you hear the busses.

The only time we've ever had an issue was one trip where a multi-day Radio Disney event was going on on the lawn outside the lobby. It was loud, and went LATE. Other than that, I've loved our boardwalk views :cool1:

I agree. Our 2nd floor room RIGHT next to Jellyrolls was REALLY loud. We were shocked at just how loud! We had stayed on the 5th floor before (in the INN), closer to ESPN and didn't notice a thing. The biggest problems were when Jellyrolls closed with the drunks leaving and the early morning CM's using the BW with their motorized carts. We'd hear them driving up and down all morning.

I think we had the same exact room, 2001, 1BR right against Jellyrolls. It was VERY loud in the evenings from about 10pm to 2am, either from Jellyrolls or Atlantic Dance, really loud music sounds all night. It was pretty bad, and if we had that same room again when we checked in next year, we would immediately ask to be switched. We left the bathroom light on so that the bathroom fan noise would cover the outside noise.

That being said, we LOVE the Boardwalk view. I spent many hours during the trip sitting out on the balcony reading, relaxing, playing iPhone games, etc., just basking in the Boardwalk atmosphere.

Can't be beat.

Yep-that was it! I should have added that while it was loud, it was awesome for walks to DHS....straight down a flight of stairs and we were on our way!

Also want to say, that I agree with the rest of your post--we LOVE the Boardwalk view!!!

The Friendship Boat horns is one of our favorite "noises" in the BW area. You can hear them from many rooms, in the Swan and Dolphin, too.

I agree that the boat horns are wonderful....they're our favorite noises too. HOWEVER, the hooting, hollering, party stuff after Jellyrolls closes waking us up on a nightly basis kinda sucked. We'll never do a boardwalk view again. We much prefer the grassy quieter views. LOL
