Nobody wants to be a Project X Beta Tester

Letting your users do the beta testing for you...sounds like someone has spent a little time in Menlo Park at the Google campus.

If Project X is out for 4 years and is still a beta we'll know for sure.

My ipod touch went missing a few weeks ago, but somehow I knew that there'd be plenty of interest in beta-testing Project X.

I was given this price because I'm "such a great customer". What is the price if you're not a great customer? I guess I will stick with my Blackberry. No project x for me.

At the Apple Store I paid $299 for my 16GB 3GS. I too am an AT&T customer but I just went directly to Apple. I have several friends that said dealing with AT&T was like pulling teeth. With the iPhone it should matter if you are eligible for an upgrade, because you aren't going to get a discount. Do you have an Apple store close by that you could just deal with them direct?
