NOBODY IS MORE SURPRISED THAN US! GKTW alumni return! 10/21 MOVING DAY!!

Judy, I'm new to DISboards and to your story, but am looking forward to reading all about your trip! You have a beautiful family and I hope this trip is wonderful!

Praying for Rachel for a quick recovery! Glad Christian was home so you could use his car. That's great to give back to Make-A-Wish with Pete's van so they can use the money to help grant a wish to another child. Praying that you can find a replacement car for Pete soon!

Want to hear the funny part...the only thing I know for SURE is happening will take place the last few hours before we check out...and I am not ready to tell that part yet, :lmao::lmao: (Okay Andrea are you reading?? I know how that makes you  when I do that...

I think it might be in my best interest to boycott your ptr and resume reading about 6 months AFTER your trip is over.

I think we're going to be telling his family tomorrow at his brother's birthday dinner. :rotfl2: OOPS!! I think we're taking away from their thunder once again! Only reason why we'd do it tomorrow is because I think his mom, dad, step mom and brother and sister in law will be there so we can tell them all at once (but if they aren't all there we aren't telling). But we may hold off because his step dad went into the hospital on Friday and they are running some tests. His blood sugar level was at 26 and he wasn't able to hold down any food they gave him. They also found blood in what he wasn't able to hold down so they are going to be putting a tube down his throat on Monday and I'm very scared. He is very frail and sickly (we still don't know what's fully wrong with him) and they plan on putting him under. Please keep him in your prayers for a successful out come.

Already leaving us with a cliff hanger!! So not nice!!
Prayers for StepDad.

And so glad to get a positive update about Mrs. D. One of my son's pre-K teachers *disappeared* and I had a fit b/c we were not told. After I made a stink we got notices saying she left for health reasons. Turns out it was all well -- she was pregnant and had m/c'd more than once in the past so needed to be on very limited duty.

Christian was in charge of our next movie night and it was my easiest one yet! He did all of the research for the meal, and found recipes he thought he would enjoy making and we would enjoy eating. He did all of the shopping and then the very best part..he did all of the COOKING!!! I think he had a great time and looked very at home in the kitchen. The last hour of his preparation I talked to Gail and Billy on the phone...heaven!

His food theme was French, with a twist because he picked The Hunchback of Notre Dame as his movie. I have to say, I have a NEW Disney favorite, I had never seen the Disney version and I really loved it! Esmerelda is my new favorite heroine, she actually reminds me a lot of myself when I was younger, which might explain why I think Disney should make her a princess. :lmao: Lisa was feeling a lot better for this movie night and it was just a fun, relaxing family time.

We also enjoyed grape juice (instead of wine) for those that wanted it. Looking at the pics, I might have enjoyed it so much because there weren't many veggies (spinach) and LOTS of starch. :rotfl2: The food WAS delicious, the movie was wonderful the company was delightful! I cant wait for it to be Christian's turn again!!!
Looks awesome! Hmmm, if I wasn't married I think I might be after Christian for his cooking (he'd just love a *29* year old like me LOL!!!).

I have never seen Hunchback either. My dh said it had bad reviews, but this is Mr. Anit-Disney speaking. I'm going to see if the library has it.

A quick request for prayer please. Rachel was taking her asthma meds this AM and passed out, hitting her head quite hard on the floor (so loudly that David and Lisa heard it upstairs). Christian was having a phone interview for a job and asked them to hold to see what happened as well. I roused her after about 10-11 secs (she actually couldn't see for several seconds), sent Christian back to his interview and called the MD. They instructed us to go to the ER for a CT scan. They also did a bunch of labs and an EKG. We are back home, she probably has a mild concussion, but no brain bleeds. She is sleeping right now, and is getting more sore as time passes (she hit really hard on her back/neck/head). I appreciate your praying for her to recover quickly. We return to the MD on Thursday AM.

Because nothing is ever simple in our world, I came out to the van to take Rachel to the ER and it wouldn't start, it seems my van needs a new battery. Christian gave me the keys to his car. Thank God for Christian!

On a happy note, We just donated Pete's van to Make a Wish yesterday (they didn't mind at all that it needed thousands of dollars worth of work, they will sell it at auction). It really brought a smile to Lisa's face to think she was helping another child get closer to their wish. :goodvibes:yay::goodvibes
Oh goodness! Prayers for Rachel. Ben's had two or three concussions (not sure about the last one as it happened while we on vacation and I didn't witness the accident and he didn't actually vomit). Anyway, I hope Rachel feels better tonight and gets a wonderful night's rest. I hope she doesn't have horrid bruising. Poor, poor dear.

What good news on the van though. I have a feeling by blessing MAW you too will be blessed in return. It's the law of attraction :)

I am so sad about your insurance changes. So are you telling me that *Affordable* Health Care is a misnomer??? Imagine that! :dumbo:

Judy, I'm praying Rachel feels bettervery soon. How scary! I'm so glad there's no brain bleed. Still I'm sure she will be even sorer tomorrow. Poor thing. As usual our lives are eerily similar. We ended up at the ER today with our oldest daughter too. I had to call 911 this morning for a particularly bad seizure that Tessa wasn't coming out of. Tons of tests (including an EKG for her blackouts), lots of meds, a patient advocate, a change of Drs and about 6 hours later we are finally home and she is feeling better.

Praying for Tess.

Oh no, poor Rachel. And that must have been so scary for the rest of you to have to see her go through that. I hope that you get good news at her appointment on Thursday.

OMG! Prayers for Rachel! I really hope your able to get some answers.

Prayers for Christian on that he gets some good news on the job front!

Thank you. We haven't gotten any answers on my SFIL right now but the Dr. wants to meet with my MIL, DH, and BIL but DH want's me there to so my FIL and SMIL will be watching the kids so we can both go. Hopefully we can find out what's going on.

I loved getting to talk to Mrs. D on Sunday. I got to hear her frustrations with the school and she got to hear mine as well. She was actually hurt that they wouldn't let us send flowers or even send her the card that they told me to create (the kids signed a card that said we miss you.) I had lots of conversations with the school because they told us that the principal told the kids that she wouldn't be returning and both my son and a couple other parent's told me that their kids said no the principal did not come in and talk to them. We were all a little upset about that too. Glad you were able to find out about the preschool teacher. It's just hard to see a teacher that the kids and parent's are connected to is all of a sudden gone. We at least got a letter saying she was out for personal reasons (ended up being for medical reasons.)

Judy, we just got back from a very last-minute road trip, so I haven't really caught up very well, just enough to see that Rachel needs our prayers after her fall and Tessa also needs them. You have been on my mind and heart these past days even though I couldn't log in. Please know I didn't abandon you - just didn't have a way to check in. I'll try to catch up on everything tomorrow.

Oh Judy, I'm so sorry for Rachel. I hope she is ok. That must have been such a frightening experience for you. Praying that all is well and that she recovers fully.

Argh! Sorry about your car. My gosh!

I love the positive note about donating Pete's van. :) It will help be a blessing to someone.

THANK YOU for all of the prayers for Rachel! She is still asleep this morning, I checked on her frequently through the night. She was hurting a lot in her hip last night and the lump on her head is huge. Pete was able to replace my battery ($132! They just keep going up and up)! Thankfully my van is working today, we have several MD appts. Funny how yesterday I didn't have anything until late afternoon (I had a lot of things I needed to take care of on the phone)...so had plenty of time to spend a lot of my day at the hospital. Again THANK YOU for your prayers and for letting me know you are reading. :goodvibes

Loved Christian's menu!! I love Hunchback also
BOTH were awesome!
Ah hit send too soon while trying to fix a typo! LOL Christian did a great job, all looks so yummy!

We won tickets to the world premiere of Hunchback. It was held in the Superdome. I still wear the commemorative tshirt but only to sleep in as it is pretty worn. LOL

We had Bill's going away party with my family this weekend. It turned into a larger going away theme as my cousin announced he has a new job and they are moving away. We are really going to miss them but I keep crying for Kaity, who is losing her cousins, the only ones around her age and local. To make it harder all three girls were having such a good time together! We are hoping to get a last visit in before they go.

Many prayers for all the needs. Unfortunately when I check in from my phone I can't scroll back.
That is so great you won tickets and have the T-shirt! I honestly can't believe I missed such a great movie.

I am sure the going away party was bittersweet. :grouphug: I am so sorry about the cousins moving away! I have been there done that and it hurts. I hope they aren't moving too far so you can still get some visits in! Praying for you!

Krystal, I am praying for Tessa!!!

I hope Rachel is better this morning. That sure was scary to read about. I can't imagine actually seeing it. I will be praying for her.

Thanks for the Buzzy idea. I can't believe how easy it appears to make blood draws. What a great idea!!! Thanks for looking into that for us!! :thumbsup2

The meat thing is so cute!! I love the pictures of your family!! The Hunchback movie night dinner looked great!! And sounds like you had a great night off on that one!! Perfect!! Disneyland also had a Hunchback show when when Michael was little. It was AWESOME!! The show was done in a round theater stage at an outdoor venue near Small World. The action took place all around you! I think it was one of my favorite stage shows of all time. Totally miss it!!

Okay I guess it makes sense not share the last hours of your trip and hey I look at it this way... You are helping me to develop patience!!! :rotfl2:

Happy Monday!!

Madeline
I actually saw Buzzy on another site JUST the week before and researched it...looks like a great way to distract!

We are thankful for the meat, it came in handy last night, the chicken breasts don't have to be defrosted, so I popped them in the oven last night and we had a late for us (7:45) dinner. It was yummy. :goodvibes I was so proud of Christian and his hard work...his movie choice was great! I wish they would bring that show to DHS! I am tired of Indiana Jones!

I AM eager to share the news though! It is pretty good. :thumbsup2

Oh you know me well as I DID giggle at your post. You and I both know that we have tons to say but not enough time to say what all that we want to say.

I can think of no better place to spend a birthday than in Florida! Like you said, it'll be nice to get away from it all!

I heard your laugh all the way hear, even as I wrote that! :lmao: If I could say all that NEEDE to be said I would have a novel...and you would have a mini series, because your funnies are hilarious! I am so excited to get away...funny, Pete and I were talking yesterday morning before he went to work about how we feel the need to always live life to the fullest and try NOT to worry about the money, because things can change in the blink on an eye. Live each minute of your day my friends.

We must go back and watch Hunchback...haven't seen it since it came out.

Christian did an awesome job, and I am drooling over that bread right now. :worship:
Kathy, that bread was DECADENTLY good! It was a huge hit, Christian scored a home run all the way around. I can't wait until it is his turn again! This weekend is Pete's turn and Christian reminded him it was also his BD, so he expected his Dad to give him a good movie night. We don't know which night we will actually do it, since Christian will have plans, so we shall wait and see. Pete has already told me he needs a little help, if it wasn't Christian's BD, I would let him figure it out. :lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

Praying for Rachel. My eldest son, David, has had a couple of concussions. Scary stuff. David was seen at a concussion clinic after his 2nd concussion and was told that the first few days after his concussion he was to be in a darkened room with minimal stimuli to aid in healing the brain. Is this something you can get Rachel to do? For my son it was next to impossible, but it may be helpful for Rachel.

Oh my gosh! I didn't get email notifications from the Dis and then, all of the sudden, I have over 100 and I saw your post about Rachel. Poor thing! I'll be praying that the soreness and the knot on her head goes away soon. Praying praying praying!

Good gosh almighty! I am sitting here at my desk counting down the minutes until I can eat leftovers and then I see Christian's meal. Tell him that he did such a good job that he's welcome to come on down to Louziana (yes I meant to misspell my own home State :rotfl:) and whip up a meal any time that he'd like.

I tell you, My entire family wants to come to visit Louziana (as Rachel says, New Orleans...the birthplace of Jazz is her destination...I say it is too far from you)...we will have to turn Christian loose in the kitchen if we ever make it! It WAS very good food! :thumbsup2

One year Disney gave a free day for your birthday...it just so happened my birthday and my daughters were both the week we were there...I think you had a choice of a day or a $75 giftcard. Since we were on a package we took the $$$ and bought something special. That was a great promo...wish they were doing it now so you could see the new Fantasyland:dance3:

I remember that promo, we couldn’t go ,but what a great offer!! That was a great promo to be able to get something special yu wanted...LOVE IT! I love it when someone gets a great deal!! :goodvibes And that was a doozy!!

Great job Pam!!! :thumbsup2 I know you didn't do it for the accolades, but doing good for our fellow man (and woman) is always worthy of thanks!!! ::yes::

Judy, yet another great movie night with The Hunchback of Notre Dame! Looks like Christian did a super job with the planning and the cooking! :cool1:
We have been enjoying Pam’s great treat. I aways hesitate to post when someone does something nice for us...I know God protects us, so I will keep posting! :goodvibes

That was a great movie night Marv, we had such a great time and I got to see a movie I thoroughly enjoyed. It was a fun time for us all.

I am sorry to hear about the flooding in your area. I hope all of the appointments went well today. :goodvibes

Thank you for your continued prayers :goodvibes, it is wild weather all over the country it seems.

Judy thank you for the kind words of understanding. She truly was my baby girl and I am still lost. I go home from work every day to an empty house and wonder what I'm supposed to do with my time now. It is a hard transition. I'll work it out though. San Diego was beautiful - it is so odd to me to have 70 degree weather in July - but I was happy to spend a couple days in the cool weather. I forgot to pack a jacket or sweatshirt (since it was 110 degrees at my house I was not thinking sweatshirts at all) so I had to get one while we were there because to me 70 degrees is seriously cold! I will be paying my sister back for a few months along with vet bills and my regular bills so...nothing else exciting for me until next summer probably.

The movie nights look like fantastic successes - both of your guys did fabulous jobs on the planning, cooking, and execution. Good job to both of you David and Christian. I like that you all have picked some not so over done Disney movies - it is nice to broaden the spectrum a little bit and mix those with the classics.

My prayers are with all of you on Judy's thread. I think of you all often.:grouphug:

Losing our furbabies is so hard, they are our faithful companions, giving unconditional love. I hope the pain subsides some soon.:hug: You will always love her though.

Seventy degree weather year round sounds like heaven to me (and definitely better than 110). I am sorry for the extra bills, they seem to crop up too much, I know. Pete is in charge of this weekends movie...Rachel and I are on standby to help. I have taught the boys to care for themselves, including cooking. I know they are happy they can do what needs to be done for themselves and it fun to see how they interpret the movies. I am also gad they have strayed a bit off of the typical Disney path to revive some of the old faves.

Sending you lots of hugs and prayers.

Hi! I am okay! I have been thinking a lot about everyone but I seem to constantly on the run with no me time to go online. But, on a high note the house is somewhat on schedule. We should be back home around the beginning in November. I can hardly wait. You would think that I would love being in a house that has 3,000 square feet but I don't. I like my house. It is going to be the same floor plan that it always except it is going to be built using the new building codes. I get an extra linen closet because the heater is going to be put up into the crawl space. That also makes my shower upstairs bigger. I couldn't be happier about that. Big changes.

You have a mighty full plate. I know that feeling of longing to back in your own home, I am happy there will be upgrades to code and things will be better and safer!! I am so happy things are moving along. I KNOW you are very busy, it is good to see you when you have time.

It's just no fun when we tell the kids they are going to get to see their cousins and then at the last minute it gets cancelled. I am glad we had the other birthday party to distract them. They loved getting to see Jeremy's teacher and her kids (since they hit it off really well when we met up with them at DL). I wish they could have given us a little bit more info like it wasn't life threatening. That was the fear a lot of us had because she seemed so well and I had just spent time with them in DL and then 2 weeks later she's out for a month and then she's not coming back at all. We had a very nice conversation while the kids played I shared my frustrations with her and she shared hers with me (her co-workers were told not to talk to her at all and she was given a hard time for showing up to her son's 1st grade performance being told she wasn't allowed to be there. She's not only a teacher she's also a parent. I think she had the right to be there for her son's performance. It wasn't like she was trying to go into her classroom.) I think we're in for a great year this upcoming year. I'm mainly ready for the kids to be in the same school!! Sarah is excited that there's a great chance of Mrs. D being her teacher and she already knows 2 kids who are going to be in the AM class with her. She also has 2 friends in the PM class. Jeremy can't wait to be on the big kid playground. He could care less about who's in his class but I know he misses his friends.

I think mine will try to go too but once college hits and then they start their own families and lives I just know it'll be harder to coordinate. But I'm enjoying our trips and time together now! Not focusing on that far in the future yet! Yeah we'll be having our own Grand Gatherings too!! :rotfl2:

I try to get the new movies as they come out but it doesn't always happen. I also don't get them when they release them unless I don't already have it on DVD/Blu-ray. It depends on the movie. I've already told DH though that we will be getting Monster's University when it comes out.

So I haven't heard from my MIL today so I'm guessing everything went well today. I will be calling her tomorrow for an update.

Next appointment is on August 14.

I am glad you have reconnected with Mrs. D and that it looks as if you will be together for the coming year. It means a lot to know and like the teacher our children have. How exciting for Jeremy, the BIG playground, how fun for him! It will be so much easier for them to be at the same school, especially with the baby!! I know it wil all work out and the children will be so happy. I used to love to go to the appts and hear the heartbeat. I hope all is well.

Thinking of you.

Thank you!!! :goodvibes
