NOBODY IS MORE SURPRISED THAN US! GKTW alumni return! 10/21 MOVING DAY!!

Good gosh almighty! I am sitting here at my desk counting down the minutes until I can eat leftovers and then I see Christian's meal. Tell him that he did such a good job that he's welcome to come on down to Louziana (yes I meant to misspell my own home State :rotfl:) and whip up a meal any time that he'd like.

One year Disney gave a free day for your birthday...it just so happened my birthday and my daughters were both the week we were there...I think you had a choice of a day or a $75 giftcard. Since we were on a package we took the $$$ and bought something special. That was a great promo...wish they were doing it now so you could see the new Fantasyland:dance3:

I am so glad that the coolers got there in good condition. Lisa had told me how she did it, so I followed in her footsteps.
Great job Pam!!! :thumbsup2 I know you didn't do it for the accolades, but doing good for our fellow man (and woman) is always worthy of thanks!!! ::yes::

Judy, yet another great movie night with The Hunchback of Notre Dame! Looks like Christian did a super job with the planning and the cooking! :cool1:

I am sorry to hear about the flooding in your area. I hope all of the appointments went well today. :goodvibes

Oh Dawn, :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: I am TRULY sorry about Maxine! She is FAR MORE than just a dog, she was your family, your companion, your comforter and friend! I hope you can have some time away with your sisters to heal. Maxine will always be a part of your heart that you love and miss and I am praying for your sad heart!!! :goodvibes

Judy thank you for the kind words of understanding. She truly was my baby girl and I am still lost. I go home from work every day to an empty house and wonder what I'm supposed to do with my time now. It is a hard transition. I'll work it out though. San Diego was beautiful - it is so odd to me to have 70 degree weather in July - but I was happy to spend a couple days in the cool weather. I forgot to pack a jacket or sweatshirt (since it was 110 degrees at my house I was not thinking sweatshirts at all) so I had to get one while we were there because to me 70 degrees is seriously cold! I will be paying my sister back for a few months along with vet bills and my regular bills so...nothing else exciting for me until next summer probably.

The movie nights look like fantastic successes - both of your guys did fabulous jobs on the planning, cooking, and execution. Good job to both of you David and Christian. I like that you all have picked some not so over done Disney movies - it is nice to broaden the spectrum a little bit and mix those with the classics.

Sandra - I hope all is well with you and you are feeling alright these days. I am so happy for your family.

My prayers are with all of you on Judy's thread. I think of you all often.:grouphug:

Michele, I have missed you!! Praying all is well, I have been thinking of you. I really DID enjoy the break, it was a great treat.

Lisa had an Esmerelda shirt I bought in a lot of clothes off of eBay. It was actually Rachel's first, so it got a lot of wear. It was pretty, but it never was a movie I sat and watched. That is why I love movie nights, I force myself to take time and spend with the family...even if there is a ton of things I could be doing. Esmerelda is gorgeous, smart, funny and strong...loved her! How wonderful to have some time with her at DL, I really think she should be out! Thank you for posting that adorable picture, I love your blonde Esmerelda...and your baby Pooh! :goodvibes

Hi! I am okay! I have been thinking a lot about everyone but I seem to constantly on the run with no me time to go online. But, on a high note the house is somewhat on schedule. We should be back home around the beginning in November. I can hardly wait. You would think that I would love being in a house that has 3,000 square feet but I don't. I like my house. It is going to be the same floor plan that it always except it is going to be built using the new building codes. I get an extra linen closet because the heater is going to be put up into the crawl space. That also makes my shower upstairs bigger. I couldn't be happier about that. Big changes.

Thank you for the prayers. We haven't heard from my MIL since this morning so we're guessing that he's doing ok right now. Tomorrow is the day I'm mainly worried about. About 15 years ago my great uncle went in for routine surgery and never woke up. He was a very healthy 72 but it was a very sad day that happened.

Leaving us in suspense also just makes sure we keep coming back!! :rotfl2: But I'd be here anyways.

We ended up not telling our family today about the baby. My BIL and SIL have been having problems ever since I've known them (going on 10 years in September). I don't know what happened today but my SIL ended up cancelling dinner tonight.

Kids were disappointed but got over it because we went to Jeremy's Kindergarten Teacher's son's birthday pool party today. The kids had a blast and enjoyed spending a lot of time in the water!! I know I had asked for prayers for Mrs. D back in April when she went out on medical leave and today I found out it wasn't anything as serious as we kept thinking it was. I also found out that she is going to be returning next year and if things work out like they should Sarah will be in her class when school starts on August 27. Both Sarah and Mrs. D are excited about that possibly happening. And we'll be getting together again in the next week or so the kids can have some fun in our pool together.

I'm with you on always wanting to get away. But like you I know it can't always happen and when it does happen it's even more exciting!! I can't wait for your trip to get here so you can just get away for it all! I'm just as excited as you are for this trip to happen! You guys all deserve it!

Of course the day of them no longer wanting to do Disney will never come. But I do know the day will come that they won't always be able to come with us so for now Disney trips trump all other trips.

Christian did a great job on his movie night!! The food looked delicious! Especially the bread! I love bread! I love the Hunchback!! Unfortunately it's one of the few Disney cartoon movies that I don't own. But I did get lucky and it was on the Disney channel a couple weeks ago and I Tivo'd it. Now we just need to find the time to watch it. I think the kids will love it!!

Hi Sandra! Sorry to hear about your FIL. I am praying that he is okay. Congratulations on the baby!!

It amazed me how cold 70 degrees felt in San Diego. Sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry the in-law drama continues!:hug: It is hard when things get canceled our children were looking forward to; but, I am happy they had the pool party and you were able to find out what happened with Jeremy's teacher...I understand privacy and al; however, since it wasn't that big of a deal they could have saved you all a lot of heartache and worry had you been told. I am glad Sarah should have her as a teacher, that should help her feel more comfortable.

I had to laugh, I think as long as we are able to go to Disney, all four of ours are going to try and figure out how to tag along...and bring spouses, grandchildren, etc...I am ready, lol...we will have our own Grand Gathering. :rotfl2:

Our copy of HB is so old and well watched. I can't do it now, but when the children were younger we used to buy all of the Disney movies as soon as they came out. We have quite a few of the older ones, love it.

Have a great week and take care of yourself!

It's just no fun when we tell the kids they are going to get to see their cousins and then at the last minute it gets cancelled. I am glad we had the other birthday party to distract them. They loved getting to see Jeremy's teacher and her kids (since they hit it off really well when we met up with them at DL). I wish they could have given us a little bit more info like it wasn't life threatening. That was the fear a lot of us had because she seemed so well and I had just spent time with them in DL and then 2 weeks later she's out for a month and then she's not coming back at all. We had a very nice conversation while the kids played I shared my frustrations with her and she shared hers with me (her co-workers were told not to talk to her at all and she was given a hard time for showing up to her son's 1st grade performance being told she wasn't allowed to be there. She's not only a teacher she's also a parent. I think she had the right to be there for her son's performance. It wasn't like she was trying to go into her classroom.) I think we're in for a great year this upcoming year. I'm mainly ready for the kids to be in the same school!! Sarah is excited that there's a great chance of Mrs. D being her teacher and she already knows 2 kids who are going to be in the AM class with her. She also has 2 friends in the PM class. Jeremy can't wait to be on the big kid playground. He could care less about who's in his class but I know he misses his friends.

I think mine will try to go too but once college hits and then they start their own families and lives I just know it'll be harder to coordinate. But I'm enjoying our trips and time together now! Not focusing on that far in the future yet! Yeah we'll be having our own Grand Gatherings too!! :rotfl2:

I try to get the new movies as they come out but it doesn't always happen. I also don't get them when they release them unless I don't already have it on DVD/Blu-ray. It depends on the movie. I've already told DH though that we will be getting Monster's University when it comes out.

So I haven't heard from my MIL today so I'm guessing everything went well today. I will be calling her tomorrow for an update.

Thank you! I'm just taking it a day at a time right now. Resting when I can and staying out of the heat. Hope you have a good week.

I agree Disney is definitely a family favorite for vacations. If we could get a week at Disney for the same rate we get a week long cruise we would definitely pick Disneyland!!! :wizard:princess:

That's funny about the railings thing. :lmao: We went on a cruise for our honeymoon and then waited until our son was 8 for our next cruise. Mallory was born with the heart issues so we took a break from cruising because doctors told us that it was not a good idea to have her in crowds. After she had her final big surgery(fontan 2 years old), we gave her a chance to heal and then we started cruising again. I can see how it would be a bit tough with little kids on a cruise. Your late night dinning with your husband sounds wonderful!!! I miss the chocolate melting cake. I saw a tagline on a cruising blog that said I still cruise for chocolate melting cake (that is totally me :rotfl:)!! What I love about cruising is the all inclusive nature of it, including activities for the kids and adults, and of course the price!!! :rotfl2:

How do you find out about the ships that aren't full and have last minute deals available?

Yes, let's keep in touch and who knows we might run into you at Disneyland or on Carnival, either would be awesome!! :yay:

Oh and I love your little baby ticker. Too cute that the baby is practicing facial expressions this week!! Adorable!! :goodvibes

Have a great day!!!

Madeline

We do love Disneyland. Our normal trips are over Christmas week (yes we deal with the park closures and crowds but still have a great time) but with a baby on the way we probably won't be back until next year sometime. Ill be too close to my due date to travel during our normal trip time. I agree if I could get the rates for DL that I got for the cruise I think we'd be going a whole lot more often!!

I don't know why the railing thing scared me so much but I got over it and we all had a great time!! The kids are already asking to go on another cruise. But when I ask do you want to go on a cruise or Disneyland what do you choose? They choose DL! I've trained them right!! :rotfl2: OMG!! The melting chocolate cake was to die for!!! I'd get one every night and then I had to start ordering 2 of them because we had to pick the kids up from the kids club before desert was delivered so I had to get Jeremy one too!! He said forget the ice cream give me the cake!! The last night of the cruise I wasn't feeling good so I didn't make it to dinner and our waiter was going to send one up to the room with my DH for me. But I ended up picking the kids up from the kids club and then we went to the dining room for desert so I at least got to enjoy it while it was still hot and gooey!!

We've either booked straight through Carnival or Vacations to Go. We go with whoever can give us the better deal.

I'll let you know once I know when our next trip will be. I'm pushing for a Thanksgiving trip but I need to see how I'm feeling and if my Dr. will clear me to travel. I'm considered high risk so I'll give up the trip to make sure I have a healthy, no problem pregnancy.

I love what the ticker's say. They are cute and it makes you wonder what is the baby really doing in there!! :rotfl2:

Sandra - I hope all is well with you and you are feeling alright these days. I am so happy for your family.

Thank you! I have been feeling really good (still tired but that's to be expected). Just trying to enjoy these last few weeks of summer vacation with the kids. They don't go back until August 27.

I hope your doing ok. I'm sure it's still hard to come home and know your best friend isn't there. I'll admit there are still days I come home and go to call for mine or wake up in the middle of the night thinking did we let Bear out and then break into tears because I remember he's no longer with us (it'll be 4 years in September). :sad1: I promise it does get easier but you never forget. :grouphug:

Hi Sandra! Sorry to hear about your FIL. I am praying that he is okay. Congratulations on the baby!!

Glad to hear that your house is coming along. I'll read your blog periodically when I find the time but I'm really bad about commenting over there.

Thank you! Haven't heard from my MIL today so I'm guessing no news is good news. I'll be calling her tomorrow to check in.

Thank you! We couldn't be more excited! Next appointment is on August 14.

A quick request for prayer please. Rachel was taking her asthma meds this AM and passed out, hitting her head quite hard on the floor (so loudly that David and Lisa heard it upstairs). Christian was having a phone interview for a job and asked them to hold to see what happened as well. I roused her after about 10-11 secs (she actually couldn't see for several seconds), sent Christian back to his interview and called the MD. They instructed us to go to the ER for a CT scan. They also did a bunch of labs and an EKG. We are back home, she probably has a mild concussion, but no brain bleeds. She is sleeping right now, and is getting more sore as time passes (she hit really hard on her back/neck/head). I appreciate your praying for her to recover quickly. We return to the MD on Thursday AM.

Because nothing is ever simple in our world, I came out to the van to take Rachel to the ER and it wouldn't start, it seems my van needs a new battery. Christian gave me the keys to his car. Thank God for Christian!

On a happy note, We just donated Pete's van to Make a Wish yesterday (they didn't mind at all that it needed thousands of dollars worth of work, they will sell it at auction). It really brought a smile to Lisa's face to think she was helping another child get closer to their wish. :goodvibes:yay::goodvibes

Oh no :( poor Rachel! I will definitely be praying that she heals quickly, keep us updated and send her our good wishes! Sorry about the car situation as well!

Hope that Rachel feels better soon. So sorry that when you are in a rush the van won't start, hopefully it will be an easy fix for ya'll.

I am glad Christian had a phone interview hopefully it will pan out and he will get a job. I have been applying for some online the last few days because I still don't have a work assignment since the gentleman I was taking care of passed away, and I need the money I make working.

Hope the rest of your day is better than the first part was and ya'll will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Thoughts and prayers to everyone who needs them.

Praying for a quick uncomplicated recovery for Rachel. Continuing to pray for a job for Christian.

Praying for Rachel!!!! How frightening!!! Prayers for good things from the interview for Christian, too.

Praying for a quick recovery for Rachel and that the van just needs a battery and is an easy and cheap fix! Also, how awesome that you were able to pay it forward in such a huge way by giving Pete's car to MAW to auction!

Please let Rachel know my family is praying for her. Hope for answers on Thursday.

JJ had a really good day yesterday. This afternoon wasn't so good.

Oh my goodness! I hope Rachel recovers quickly :flower3:

You are a strong woman in so many ways - I probably would have lost it when the van wouldn't start. I sincerely hope it is a quick fix.

Judy - reading about poor Rachel brought back bad memories of my mother falling down a flight a steps on Thanksgiving last year, many extra prayers going out for Rachel today! Mom had a severe concussion and a fractured sternum but no other injuries, I am here to tell you that 73 yr old women "don't bounce well" or bounce back well but finally after many months she is back to normal! Rachel is young and will be back to her normal self very quickly!

To all on this thread - I am just back from a vacation, I have figured out that I am TOO OLD to travel with a 5 year old very active boy!!!!! But we had fun and that is all that is important. And did I say VERY VERY active 5 year old.............just shaking my head right now trying to figure out what lapse in my good judgement I had when I planned the trip :rotfl2: For those of you that have a boy around that age........GOD BLESS YOU!

Now I can catch up on the Disboards, the only thing I have read on here for the past 8 days was this thread, I was given very little time on MY kindle to say the least, I had to compete with 75 games - I kid you not, that is how many he has on here, all free of course because I have better things to do with my money than buy games for a kindle. I had to buy "skylanders" (those with boys will understand),toy animals from Virginia Safari Park, yard sale treasures ie TOYS, Spiderman popsicles, Happy meals - only to keep getting the same Minions over and over ...............yadda yadda! But he is a good kid 99.9 % of the time, has manners, never meets a soul he won't talk to, thinks of others ..................gosh, I don't know about you guys but it sounds like I am describing Judy's kids ;) I can only hope that he will grow up to be like her 4 children:flower3:

We are praying for Rachel. Poor thing. How nice about donating the van to Make A Wish! What a great way for Lisa to feel like she is giving back or paying it forward.

Thoughts and prayers to all.
