NOBODY IS MORE SURPRISED THAN US! GKTW alumni return! 10/21 MOVING DAY!!

At least you know that she's feeling some better if she's asking to play her guitar. Please keep us updated on how she's doing!

Oh, how frustrating for Rachel! I'm sorry I didn't understand and assumed she was doing better than the first day after some rest. We'll keep her in our prayers, I know the next couple weeks will drag by for her, especially not being able to do her regular activities. I pray she'll see significant improvement soon. Any idea yet on what caused her to pass out in the first place?

Not the news I wanted to hear :( I will positively be keeping Rachel in my thoughts. I'm a bit concerned particularly b/c she was dismissed from the ER without anything significant found on the exam/CT. Please keep us posted. See, this is why I'm better reading every few days -- if I waited until the weekend to log on you might have posted some more definitive news re: seeing the neurologist, etc.

You'll be delighted to hear my PT is scheduled: for August 27 :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

I guess they really want my shoulder to freeze even worse and require surgery to save some $$$$ :rotfl2: In a couple of years once all the new health care really goes into full swing everyone will be able to relate to what I deal with when the government runs your health care. I know you (Judy) are already getting ramifications of it with your insurance changes.

DAWN I am so glad your apt complex was willing to work things out with you :)

Judy, Thanks for the update on Rachel! Praying that she'll get the rest she needs to bring healing and end the headaches ASAP! Hope the appointment with the neurologist will provide answers. I know you'll monitor her carefully and won't allow her to overdo even playing the guitar. Your vacation can't get here soon enough!

Oh Judy! I'm so sorry Rachel is not feeling better. I'm so glad you already contacted the neuro and have the ball rolling. Are there any concussion clinics in your area? Ours was part of the Neurology Department at our local hospital and saw us almost immediately. Sending hugs and prayer your way.

Sorry to hear that Rachel isn't bouncing back quickly. Its a long process , my mother wasn't back to full activities for quite some time after her fall and concussion, I would say 4 weeks before she could use the computer, read, do her puzzle books or really watch TV, she just had it on for noise. She and the cat slept alot, now the cat thinks he should sit on her lap all day or sleep with her every night ;) And its hard to tell a deaf cat NO, and he is profoundly deaf, but we talk to him anyway.

Just a quick update, Rachel's concussion isn't any better. She has to rest as much as possible until August 13. She can do some low key things IF I feel her cognition is okay and she is up to it...She begged to be able to play guitar...within moderation was approved, again if I say she can. IF she isn't better Monday, I need to get her in to the neurologist. I just made the call, I am not waiting until Monday, it can take three MONTHS to get in to neuro!

Her head hurts, her thought process is slow, as is her response at times.

I am comforted to know you are praying! Thank you!!

Judy,Not much to say other than we are praying and will keep doing so.

Concussions are so horrible. I am sorry that Rachel is still having troubles. I hope that she is feeling back to herself really soon. I would have done the same thing as you did by calling the neuro doctor today, it can be too long of a wait if you don't get right on it.

Thank you again for all of the prayers and concern. Rachel is NOT any better as I stated yesterday, in fact everywhere we went people commented on how pale she appeared. Her Orthodontist saw her yesterday and was shocked at how pale/quiet she was, as he put it if it was his child he wouldn't wait. I told him I had already made the call. She looked a bit better at dinner, of course Pete couldn't tell she was at all pale/different. She went upstairs to play guitar and when I came up to check on her 10 minutes later she was asleep. I will call again when the office opens at 9 and have decided if they blow me off I will just take her back to the ER, they will have to see her then. Our pediatrician leaves town today for vacation, returning August 13 and insisted Rachel have an appt that day. I am not going to just sit here and do nothing though if I think she isn't getting better. I do know it takes time to improve; however, she is only 15 and I don't want a lifetime of problems for her.

No time for responses, the DIS will be shutting done for maintenance shortly. THANK YOU AGAIN for your prayers!

Boy, I wished Rachel was doing better. Praying for her. Concussions can be very serious. I hope everything goes smoothly to get her into the neurologist. What do they think happened to make her pass out in the first place? Side effect from the inhaler? Lack of oxygen from the asthma? Maybe you already answered those questions previously. If so, I apologize for missing it.

We have an appointment with the neurologist at 11 AM. I have changed the day around to accommodate this of course.

Several have asked how Rachel fainted in the first place, thanks for the reminder Michelle. Not 100 % sure; however, we think it was a vasovagal response while she was using her inhaler. It was NOT the actual medication, she has used that for several years. It happened early Tuesday AM; Rachel had already had breakfast. Labs showed she was NOT dehydrated or anemic.

Thank you for your continued prayers.

I was going to post "go with your Mama gut and take her to the ER" but then saw your post that you were able to get an 11:00 appointment. Keeping Rachel in my prayers! Let us know what the doc says, please.
