Nobby's Gnomies... heading to WDW in April 2010

Happy Saturday Gnomies! :) I hope you're all enjoying your long weekend - I wish it was one for me too! (I suppose I shouldn't say that - I am grateful for the work hours I get!)

It's been a busy couple of days around here! I had the dentist (which was fine with me playing the role of dopey!), and I've spent the last two days hanging out with my cousin. He's been feeling kinda down and lonely and he opens up to me so I had to talk him out and cheer him up!

I've also taken up a new hobby since I've given up shopping! I'm a newly-discovered scrapbooking lover! I always thought I'd be rotten at it since my artistic abilities are limited but stickers make it easier! Right now I'm working on my 2006 Disney trip! It's fun to relive it all again!

Well, I'm off to get ready for work! I hope you all have a safe and happy day!

Hey Stace, glad your shift wasn't too bad! And good luck with that valium, I need at least 2 to get me feelin good ;)
We have HBO here, but I can NOT seem to catch True Blood on there! I've tried to watch a few scenes here and there on youtube, but it's just not the same! I really really liked Sookie though! I can definitely see some similarities between Twilight, but you can get yourself attached to some of the characters in these books too. Like LL and I think CP said, I thought books 1 and 2 were kinda slow, but I loved book 3 and 4 and 5, 6 (Definitely Dead) wasn't really my favorite, but I really liked 7 and 8 too. And now I'm on her latest one that just came out. So all and all, a really good series! I read them kind of fast.
Like I told C and P though, if you'd like to borrow any of them, I can send them your way :thumbsup2

Thanks Jess! The valium actually hit me much harder this time than last and I was very sleepy! I take 4 for each appointment....Do you guys not have TrueBlood on DVD yet? I just got mine on Tuesday! The books and the show are definately different, but the books are snappy and fun and I like a little mystery! And thanks for offering to send them to me, but to save shipping costs I'll get them from DBFF Lauren. I steal them while I help her pack! ;)

True Blood is a lot different and very...um..graphic but it's good.

Yes much more graphic!! Quite graphic! But still great! Much of the storyline of book one is exactly the same including some dialog! But definately not a family-friendly show! ;)

So gnomies, I had a BAD day at work today. Really bad. Hard to explain but in essence I screwed up and did something my boss was not especially pleased with. Now in my head, I totally get that you're human, you screw up, you live and you learn. Happens all the time. But I can't shake it. I'm dwelling on it and beating myself up over it. Are any of you dwellers? How do you pull yourself out of it? :confused3

C I am such a dweller! And a worrier so I'm generally just doomed! I find that with more time away from it you see the more optomistic side of the situation and realize that a valuable lesson is learned. Until then I usually put on a false happy-face and try to do things as normal. I'm sure you'll be just fine C!

Juelz - I'm sorry to hear about your trip. But not to worry, you will see the World again soon! It'll look all the more shiny when we get there!

Jen(jolt) - I realize you're away but my thoughts and prayers are with your mom. I'm glad things turned out ok.   HAVE FUN! (I'm sure you are!)

Katie - I'm glad your back is a bit better. I hope full relief is on it's way

Hi gang,

Julez- hoping for no rain for Rachael's b-day party. Can't wait to see pics.

Stacy- yeah for a new scrapbooking hobby. Just think of all the scrapbooking opportunities gnomefest will present!

---------

So, when it rains it pours. As I am considering this DVC contract, I need a new washer and dryer. Well dryer but washer will be close behind and don't you need a matched set? Oy. :headache:

Girl- get your priorities straight! Buy DVC and get the washer/dryer off of Craigslist!

ARRGGH!! Back alarm went off at 5:00 this morning, it apparantly doesn't know it's Sunday :sad2:

How is everyone? We cleaned the boys rooms yesterday (one of those, dump out everything and sort them back into some sort of order cleanings!!) This morning I have a few things to do around the house to get it ready for company. My brother and his family and my parents are all coming for lunch and just the chance for the kids to hang out together.

CP, did I remember to say congrants on finishing the school year? I always hated those last couple in-service days, such a waste of time! One year we had 1 in-service/work day every month built into our calendar but we had so many snow days, they decided to use them as contact days. All that of course meant was kids got out the first week of June and teachers were left with 9 days at the end of the year. I was 8 1/2 months pregnant with Patrick and prayed every day to go into labor :lmao: Unfortunately, I didn't realize that if my doctor put me on bed rest (which they really debated about doing because of my blood pressure), I could have taken medical leave for those days. DARN!

Any word Christine on the DVC?

Hey Stace! Scrapbooking huh? That's one thing I have considered because I have lots of friends who are into it. But I have little creative talent and always figured I would buy a ton of stuff, get started, not like how it was turning out and then quit with it unfinished! I did manage to get my 600 pictures into albums and had a really great time sorting and ordering and going over the memories (made me ache to go back!)

I'm loving the live updates from LL and Jen. Too bad it's raining for them (but I think FL needs some rain desperately!)

Julez, I hope all goes well with Rachel's party today :thumbsup2

Hi Jess and Paula :flower3:

Have a great day everyone!!

Good morning, Katie! Thanks, I am glad that the year is over. The two days this week will be a huge waste of time -- I will probably be finished with everything before lunch on Tuesday -- guess I will have to DIS to pass the time. ;)

Stace, I love scrapbooking! I never seem to have enough time to sit down and work on it though -- I still haven't finished last year's Disney trip, and we leave in 13 days!

Julez, have fun with Rachel's party today!

Christine, doesn't that just figure about the washer and dryer? :headache:

It has been raining here in Georgia for about three days straight! Grrrr. I am ready for sun!

Hi gnomies!

Katie - sorry about your back! Did you over do it on the cleaning? Another reason for me to avoid housework!!

Julez- have fun with the party today! :yay:

CP- hope you get some sunshine and woo hoo for 13 days!!! :woohoo:

Re: the DVC- I have it "on hold" so the contract is "mine" to execute if I want it- although it would still have to go through a right of first refusal process with Disney where basically they won't let any sale go through too low to preserve resale value. And I'm not sure sure they'll let this one go through. I just looked and the average price is $86/point and this is at $80/pt but I do see a couple (in other months) that went through at $80. :confused3

I think I have until Wed to decide and return the signed contract.

C- How exciting on DVC!

Katie- Doh! to the back.

CP- It's been calling for rain all week and we haven't gotten any- I sincerely hope TODAY IS NOT THE DAY! It can come tommorow- but NOT TODAY!

Back to gettting ready for the party! Will update y'all tonight or tommorow w/pictures! Yay for NO WORK TOMMOROW! WOOOO HOOO!

Hurrah for no work tomorrow! :cheer2:

Julez- hope the party went well and without rain!

CP- I thought of you today. I got in my car to head home and all the radio stations had the emergency broadcast station on warning of a tornado warning in southern Connecticut. Then they went through the emergency spiel of what you should do if you were in that area. :scared: Scary stuff. I can't imagine dealing w/ that on a regular basis! :sad2:

Hope all the gnomies are having a great weekend! :goodvibes

I actually saw that warning on the weather channel site this afternoon!!! I thought -- what? Why is there a tornado warning in New England??? I hope it wasn't anywhere near you!

You really are addicted to the weather channel! ;) Nope - ~an hour's drive from me but in the years and years (and years :rolleyes1) I've lived here, hearing that on the radio was a first for me!

Hi everyone!!

I'm happy to be off the next 2 days!:woohoo: I still need to pack for Cleveland...but I think I'll do a "christine" and pack in the morning:lmao:

The guys got half my porch floor replaced already...I didn't expect them to get so much done. Although the whole floor might be done already, if the jacka$$ that put the porch on in the 1st place had done it right:sad2:

We almost lost the whole porch roof because it wasn't anchored to the house:scared1: and to make matters worse... the support posts...had no support in them! All they were is the decotative columns that are to 'hide' the 4x4 posts.... but there were none!!

It's a miracle the whole stinking thing didn't collapse from the weight of the snow over winter. OTTV! Now we have to get a roofer to look at anchoring the roof...yippee, more expenses:sad1:

Christine...I think that at $80/pt it will pass ROFR. It may be close, but as long as it's not in the 70's I think you'll be OK. You could always offer to pay $81/pp... in return for them paying $200 toward closing costs that # may look nicer to Disney:confused3 and your cost is still the same...playing the system:thumbsup2

tootles!

paula

Hey gnomie ladies!

I am certainly ready for a nice quiet night! There was a model search/competition in the mall today and the stage for these things is always right infront of my store. This means people stand around near us but don't come in and give me their money!:rolleyes1 It was a long day watching all that hair-flipping and posing!

Hope everyone else is having a great night!

C- you're right - my scrapbook for Gnomefest should be a hoot! I'll have to make copies for everyone if I ever get them all finished!

ARRGGH!! Back alarm went off at 5:00 this morning, it apparantly doesn't know it's Sunday :sad2:

Oh Katie you're poor back:hug: You need Greg and the kids to wait on you hand and foot for a couple days! :goodvibes As for the scrapbooking, I thought the same thing to myself. See, I have plenty of creativity but not much in the way of artistic ability! Yeah I can picture it but it never turns out the way I imagine it! But with all the stickers and little charms and such you can buy it is alarmingly easy! I am delighted with the way my pages have turned out so far! And it's pretty cheap since I got a bunch of stuff at the dollar store! And then the left over photos I'll just toss back in the photoboxes I used to store them before!

Stace, I love scrapbooking! I never seem to have enough time to sit down and work on it though -- I still haven't finished last year's Disney trip, and we leave in 13 days!

Hiya Jackie! I can't believe you leave in 13 days already!! I am super jealous! Don't worry about the weather, think of where you'll be in two weeks and that should make you smile! :) And you're still ahead of me, I'm working on the trip from 2006!! I never realized how long each page can take! I spent like two hours working on my Cinderella Castle page! With all the stickers and waiting for the glitter to dry...:)

Paula- have fun in Cleveland! on pulling a "christine" and packing at the last minute!

Stacy- take some pictures of your scrapbook pages and post, please. :flower3:

Katie- how's your back? Did you enjoy your family lunch yesterday?

Jackie- you are getting SO close!

Julez- party looks like SUCH fun. Rachael has a big ole smile on her face! :)

I *think* I'm going to go for it with DVC. I got a loan with a reasonable interest rate through my bank and I should be able to pay it off fairly quickly. But there is a piece still nagging at me that says "is now really the best time to be doing this?" and "that's a lot of $ to be spending on something 'frivolous'" and scariest of all, "are you sure you'll keep going to WDW for ~30 years?" On the last one, I sure hope so but what if my FH (future husband) doesn't like Disney? :scared1: I guess it will have to be key selection criteria. :upsidedow

Have a great Memorial Day, gnomies!!

Yes, it was great fun!

Today is gloriously uncomplicated! It's gorgeous outside, the boys went fishing, Rach is playing with her tons of new "littlest Pet Shop" animals right now and although I do have to shampoo the carpets and the couch- that can wait!

I'm up way earlier then I wanted to be but that means more time to do what I want and maybe even squeeze in a nap around 2! :cloud9: I've never had a better Labor Day! :cool2:

Any fun plans for anyone else? Or as in my case- "Non-plans"?

C- look at it this way- DVC isn't necessarily just Disney, remember? You can travel the world w/your points! And even if the future *DH* doesn't like Disney per say.... who doesn't love to chill in nice diggs w/great pools? I know taking "resort" vacas to Disney World are on my list for someday- staying at a resort while visiting the GAZILLIONS of other things there are to do in Orlando and surrounding areas & beaches. Not to mention DVC in Hawaii, California, Vero Beach, and South Carolina! It's a timeshare- not just Disney...... like the promo stuff says- it's tradeable all over the world! :lovestruc

Oh- AND when you want to be "snow-birds" someday- you'll have tons of choices of where to stay!

Katie- how's your back? Did you enjoy your family lunch yesterday?

My back is MUCH better. I had very little pain yesterday and woke up with only a few twinges this morning :thumbsup2

would you really find yourself that serious with a Disney hater? If I had realized in college how much it would be a part of me, I would have had it on my list of requirements for a hubby! Greg likes Disney, he just doesn't LOVE Disney (now, if I already owned DVC when we met, he might feel differently!)
