Nobby's Gnomies... heading to WDW in April 2010

Jen, have you checked out mousesavers.com? they have a section with tons of rental car codes. that's where we found the best rental deal last summer (we ended up with a minivan for the same price every other place wanted for a full-size)

Hi gang!! :)

Jess - hope you "win" the discussion on when to leave on vacation. That Home Depot shovel drawing you posted is hysterical! :lmao::rotfl::lmao:

LL- hope it was a better day today! How is your foot?

Jackie - how was the weather? Are Charles & Connor feeling better?

Jen (MM) - so glad you popped in! My goodness you have a lot going on. So glad your mom is doing better. Will we get to see pics of Meg's graduation, recital or Kings Island? :flower3: I didn't remember you were considering moving... within the same area or are you thinking about going a distance?

Jen (JJ) - well maybe it has to do with the name, but you have a lot going on too! I think it's fantastic that you're so involved with your school and church. Those kids are lucky to have you! Good luck with everything. :goodvibes Selfishly counting down until you're done so we can do more Sept trip planning. :rolleyes1

Julez- what was going on at work today?? Do tell!!

Paula - was today any better? I hope so!

Stacy - I think I forgot to say good luck with the walk this weekend! :goodvibes

Katie - how's your toe? Walking into town for lunch sounds so fun. Do you live in a small town? Good call on mousesavers - they have some good deals!

------------

So for all of you considering fall trips (which I hope is many of you say for the Sept 24 thru Oct 3 timeframe :rolleyes1) I may have some good news. I suppose we can't call it "news" just yet but rumor/speculation/supposition and I really, really, really hope it comes true! :yay::yay::yay:

So on the WDW Today podcast, my friend Len Testa (co-author of the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World) said the following: he had heard ~ 2weeks ago that the free dining promotion had not sold "nearly as well as Disney had hoped." And that they had sold 50% of the rooms they had wanted to at the value and moderate resorts; only 12% of the rooms they wanted to at the deluxes and only 2% of the rooms at the DVC resorts. So, Len and the co-hosts were speculating that there will be some awesome deals this fall for deluxe and DVC properties. :woohoo: They speculated that it would be targeted for annual passholders but we'll see. Keep your fingers crossed b/c fall is a great time to visit! :upsidedow

C, my heel feels better but by the time I come to work both of my ankles are so swollen. I am so worried about Disney. I elevate them when I come home and they start to feel much better. I need to figure out a way to elevate them at work.

I was wondering if Disney would offer anymore deals for the fall. I'd really like a super great promotion so I can convince Marc to go! :rolleyes1

OH BTW... katie and CP...we got our 1st 2 'probable' pig flu patients today at the hospital.... not to worry....I'm keeping enough Tamiflu hidden for me:lmao:

P

Hide some for me as well! :rotfl:

OK you married ladies...Do you ever have times when your hubby isn't doing anything unusual but he just drives you nuts?

Tonight Greg was talking about and commenting on various things and all I could do is smile while in my head I was screaming SHUT UP!!!! He was driving me insane for no particular reason and I just wanted him to shut the **** up!

Yes, sometimes I look at him and say, "Charles, I need quiet time. Go find something to do." Then, he says I am treating him like one of the kids. ;)

CP-So sorry again to hear about your car! Thankfully Charles wasn't hurt nor anyone else and thankfully your hurt didn't fare worse!

Thank you! :goodvibes He was very lucky. My dad is pretty sure he can buff out the scratches and replace the headlight, so we won't need to claim any of that on the insurance.

CP, bummer about the accident. Sounds like one of those things that wasn't entirely Charles' fault but he will get the blame for, that sucks! Wishing you a calm weather day today!

Thank you! It wasn't entirely his fault, but you know how rear-ending is viewed.

It was a calm weather day for the most part -- all the bad stuff went south of us and sucked all the energy out of the atmosphere! After being worried all day, I was finally able to breathe freely about 4:30 when they canceled the tornado watch.

Hey lovely ladies---I am not even going to attempt to try to catch up----too much chatter to wade through!!! I hope all is well for everyone! I have been ridiculously busy and haven't been able to chat with all my lovely DISers....this has been so sad!!!! I have missed you all so much!

What have I been doing??? Well, first of all,
--helping my mom recover from her surgery--she is doing great btw
--busy with the follow-up from my women's retreat---this has been time consuming, but so worthwhile
--helping out some good friends by watching and caring for their babies
--Taking care of all the end-of-the-year school/dance madness for Megs--her preschool graduation is next Wednesday and we are also getting close to her recital as well
--we got Gold Passes this year for Kings Island (a local theme park) and have spent many weekend days there already
--PLUS, Tom and I have been working on packing and readying our home because we are putting it on the market soon.

I FEEL LIKE I HAVE GONE CRAZY!!!! Running around like a headless chicken doesn't even come close!

We are still thinking about going to WDW in September, but unfortunately our minds are somewhat fixed on selling the house and moving right now. I think once we get a better grasp on that situation, we will be ready to book something.....let's hope!

I hope you are all well---feel free to catch me up!!!!

Yeay, Jen is back!!! Why did you decide to sell your house? This is a surprise!

Starting Book 5 today LL and CP!
Thank GOD Debbie learned a lesson...I was ready to throw my book!
A little weird about Bill not technically being the last 2 books, but I STILL wish Alcide would come into the picture for Sookie now that Debbie is gone! :goodvibes

I knew you would like Debbie's lesson! ;) I don't think you have met my favorite character yet -- I can't remember which book it is though...

Well, the boys and I walked downtown and met Greg for lunch. It was nice but very windy on the way home. Yep, storms are on the way (but probably not severe, hopefully CP can say the same thing)

Yes, I feel like I can finally say it was not a severe day. Let's hope I get a breather for a little bit, and then I can talk about other things.

Well things are just crazy busy here LOL...the end of the year is crazy. I'm the National Honor Society sponsor and we have our inductions this week and then I'm walking in honor of my mom for Relay for Life on Friday. Saturday is Disney on Ice LOL (which I'm not complaining about LOL) and then next week I have to work on the final preperations for our Teen Youth Group End of the Year Banquet LOL!! Too much Stuff I have to do but after that come glorious May 22nd things will slow down and then I will have down time YAY!!!

Jackie and LL...lots of hugs and lots of love!!!

I hear ya, Jen, about the end of the year -- I am starting to get that overwhelmed feeling.

Jackie - how was the weather? Are Charles & Connor feeling better?

So for all of you considering fall trips (which I hope is many of you say for the Sept 24 thru Oct 3 timeframe :rolleyes1) I may have some good news. I suppose we can't call it "news" just yet but rumor/speculation/supposition and I really, really, really hope it comes true! :yay::yay::yay:

Yes, Charles and Connor are feeling better, thank you! :goodvibes

That's very interesting news about the discounts -- I would so like to take Connor for his birthday or sneak away with Charles.

The weather, thankfully, was much milder than originally predicted. This morning's newscast was just plain foreboding -- tornadoes and everything. So I was a nervous wreck for most of the day, eyeing the radar while teaching. Most everything went south of us with the exception of some early morning storms.

Hi Stace!! :woohoo:
Sorry to hear about the dentist! When I was younger and experienced some cavities, I used to wear my headphones, a blindfold and use a stressball (I kid you not) and now for the OBGYN, the 1st time I ever went in (my doctor is actually one of the nurses that was in the room when I was delivered!) she told me "don't come back unless you'd had valium" :rotfl:
So now I have to take 2 before I go to any appointment, but she is my SOURCE when I need them to fly :worship:

See I don't have any trouble with that! It's only the dentist and getting blood taken! Maybe it's because I go for that check up once every 6 months since female troubles are big problems in my family and have plagued me in the past so I'm just used to going. Plus I just go to my regular family doctor for that (who also delivered me!)

So how do you know about your past lives? Just a feeling you have or someone told you? I went to a psychic once (I love that stuff) who said I was on a battleship in WWII and went crazy so they had to throw me overboard :scared: and that I was also in ancient Greece as an orator (interesting since public speaking is one of my biggest fears!)

I don't honestly know. I just think these things. I try to guess how I could have died in my past lives based on my birthmarks (they say that's a sign of how you died in your past lives - and I have several birthmarks). Also things that I just have completely random interests in or places I'm compelled to go for no real reason. If all these different things connect than I try to think of some previous life I may have had! I also have a lot of deja vu and can slip into certain accents with great ease and they sound believable and right! It's just interesting to think about....and thanks for the luck on the walk this weekend. It's all in honor of Baby Gracie.

I hope you gnomies all have a great weekend and I will talk to you soon! Thanks for all the well-wishes with my teeth too! I certainly will need it!

Morning Gnomies.

I have decided to not go to work today. My ankles are still bothering me, usually when I wake up they feel fine until early afternoon but they are already hurting me. I didn't sleep all that great last night since they hurt. I'm calling the doctor to see if they have the results of all my tests to see if she can give me a prescription to help the swelling. This needs to be taken care of ASAP. I'm getting a little frustrated.

Sorry you're not feeling well, LL. Let us know what the Dr. says. We cannot have ankle trouble bothering you at WDW! :sad2:

I'm working from home today so I'll be around. :rolleyes1

No, we really can't have any trouble at WDW. :sad2: I think a lot of it is when I am sitting down at my desk at work.

I think I might try to go back to sleep until Marc gets home. He's bringing me a bagel. :lovestruc

feel better LL:hug:

I just wrote 'bagel' on my shopping list:goodvibes I just got some strawberry-rhubarb fruit spread from tastefully simple...and it on a bagel is calling my name:thumbsup2

have a happy day gnomies!

I almost took the day today -- I have so much that I need to do -- but here I am at school.

I'm working from home today so I'll be around. :rolleyes1

I'm jealous.

have a happy day gnomies!

Paula

You too, Paula!

Morning girls! Have a nice Thursday.

LL, sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Let us know what the doc says

C, Yay for working from home today!

Bagels sound yummy. So yesterday I told you that we walked downtown for lunch (I think it was C who asked, we live in a "big" town for Iowa, about 23,000. I think we are the smallest of the bigest schools in the sports classification system. We live on Main st and have a traditional Iowa downtown area with the courthouse being the centerpiece. We are 4 blocks from the courthouse and the first house as you move toward the residential area. Lovely victorian homes to our west and churches and business district to our east. It's a great location because most "events" in town like parades and festivals involve main street so we just walk out our front door or a few blocks to the festivities)

ANYWAYS, last night my stomach was not feeling well and it occurred to me that I haven't felt that way in awhile. A month or two ago, I felt that way every night almost. It has to be a result of the chinese buffet for lunch. I hadn't realized that since I started watching my diet I wasn't feeling nauseous anymore. I guess another incentive!

FYI, we now have 4 confirmed cases of piggy flu in town. And I'm sending my hubby and Patrick back to school today! Wish them luck.

I get like that too Katie. With my dairy allergy, now when I even try to eat a small piece of say ice cream cake or something, from not eating dairy in a LONG time, I get a horrible stomach ache, it's not worth it to eat something small and risk the pain later! Thinking about your hubby and Patrick today! :goodvibes

feel better LL:hug:

I just wrote 'bagel' on my shopping list:goodvibes I just got some strawberry-rhubarb fruit spread from tastefully simple...and it on a bagel is calling my name:thumbsup2
Oh YUM, my mom has some of that, it's very tasty! :thumbsup2

Sorry you still don't feel good LL! I know it's frustrating, but thankfully you are still 2 weeks out and you are able to treat it now. I know it's hard to say, but try not to think about it, it's just going to make you worry more!

Hey gang!

I am so glad to be able to be "back!"

Of course there will be pictures of the upcoming graduation and recital....and hopefully will remember to take some pictures next time we go to KI. It is fun to have the pass there, but like Megan and I keep lamenting everytime we are there...it is NO "Mickey's House!" I know you all can appreciate that sentiment! ;)

The move has been milling about for quite sometime, but Tom has finally hit the point that he wants to move, and move NOW!!! We will still be looking to stay in the same general area, but want to move to a better location for Megan. Most of the people in our neighborhood are either single, married w/out kids, or retired.....not many kiddos for her to play with. Since she is an only child, we want her to have a neighborhood where she can find kids to play with---she wants this desperately too! I am just stressed because there are some things I need to do to the house before we put it on the market--general staging and packing and removing unnecessary things--but Tom is so busy at work and on the weekends that I will probably be the one doing this all on my own. Once that part is done, I think I will feel much better about the whole process.

Because we have had so much going on, and things have been a little shaky at Tom's job lately (he just survived another round of layoffs) we have yet scheduled a trip for September like we had hoped. I am hoping that gets taken care of soon too, but it has been put a little on the back burner for right now until we get the house thing on the roll.....boy is it going to be a busy summer!

I hope you are all doing well today!!! Sending you wishes to get better, stay better, and have happy things happen today!

Hey Gnomies!!

LL...you must get to feeling better soon!!! I'm sorry you are still experiencing some foot pain...that is no fun at all!!

Jen (MM) WB you have been missed so glad to see life has been treating you well and you are just busy as a bee!!

C...I can't want until we can sit down and have a great conversation about our Fall getaway!!!

Katie...you take care of those boys and I'm praying no one in your family gets sick!! Stay safe my love!!

Okay so you want to hear a really gross only could happen to a science teacher and of course on her busiest day of the week LOL

So tonight is our National Honor Society Banquet and everything as come together wonderfully and I knowing I won't have much time between the end of the day and the ceremony I decided to dress up for school. Well today is also the day we are having school wide observations from some bigwigs from Atlanta so I'm doing labs all day...a turtle dissection for one. So I went to go get my turtles from the storeroom and was walking them back to my room when I felt something wet drip on my foot...oh yes of course in my nice outfit the turtles would decide to leak all over my skirt...so yah...I smell real nice today...although it is amazing what lysol can cover up LOL and will have to find the time to get home and change and then make it to the banquet on time...OTTV LOL!!

On a good note, my observation went well LOL!

Jen (MM)-I completely understand the reason why you would want to move. I'm an only child too and it was tough growing up in a neighborhood with no kids to play with. I did have both sets of my grandparents on either side of me, but overall, I pretty much had to play games with my stuffed animals for a looooong time

Jen (JJ)-Oh gosh! I hear ya on the turtles. Being a science teacher really has it's perks doesn't it? I got so tired last semester of taking my gloves on and off while they were doing a Perch dissection that I just did it without gloves and got the "ewww, how can you do that?!" noise at every lab bench  Can't say I ever dissected a turtle before, but hopefully you CAN find the time to get changed and ready for tonight. Good luck!!! :thumbsup2

Hey MM, good to hear from you again! We are hoping to move in a couple years, partly for the same reason. Lots of older and younger people in our neighborhood, very few kids.

sorry you grossed yourself JJ. Not related but your story reminded me of something at our school a couple years ago. The chemistry teacher is also a farmer and he had a neighboring farmer friend with a 2 headed piglet born. It didn't survive so he gave it to our chemistry teacher. Our Anat/Phys teacher dissected it in class. I'm sure it was an interesting dissection for kids to analyze what it shared or had two of.

Still haven't heard back from the doctor. I just called and they promised to have a call back to me by 5. Boo.

Your town sounds great!! Funny I had a call on my cell phone from a number I didn't recognize and googled the area code. It was Iowa and for a minute I thought, I wonder if Katie is calling. :lmao:

Now that I've been eating better for a while now I notice a huge change in how I react when I fall "off the wagon." It's really amazing. Not enough to always keep me on the wagon but interesting nonetheless. :rolleyes1

Glad your observation went well. :goodvibes Not sure I want to know but I'm going to ask. When you say the turtle leaked... exactly what does that mean? :confused3

Still haven't heard back from the doctor. I just called and they promised to have a call back to me by 5. Boo.

Ugh. Sorry, LL. But at least we know if they're not in a rush to call you back that it's nothing too serious. :upsidedow But I know that makes it no less annoying or painful for you. I hope it gets resolved soon and of course hope for pain-free walking in WDW!

---------------

BTW, ladies, the latest Mickey Monitor for passholders is out as well as a special scavenger hunt list for the Studios in honor of the 20th anniversary. I have email addresses for Jackie, LL, Katie, Stacy, Julez and Jen (JJ) so I'll go ahead and send (feel free to delete if you're not interested). Jess, Jen (MM) or anyone else- if you would like me to send to you, just PM me your email address. :)

Thanks for the Mickey Monitor, C. I just read it and it said that the Up characters will be doing greetings. Yay!

No call from the doctor still. I am so annoyed.
