Nobby's Gnomies... heading to WDW in April 2010

OTTV, Jess. That's a lot to deal with! I have faith in your ability to grin and bear it!!
Thanks C...one question though, I have always been meaning to ask this, but what does OTTV? I always "see" it throughout the threads, but I always make up something in my head when I'm reading it! :lmao:

Oh, Jess. I totally feel for you, I really do. I know how hard it is. I know you are a nice person and don't deserve putting up with all this drama. We are always hear for you went you need rant/vent/cry/stomp/whatever you need!

I've been emailing with FSIL all day and we've decided that the four of us are going to sit down and figure out a way to handle the MIL & FIL the same way so we are all on the same page. All four of us are extremely frustrated.

C, I can't come down with a cold as much as I want too. If you aren't going to book a trip to WDW then we should pick a date for our dinner so I have that to look forward too! ;)
Oh LL, I wish that you and C lived around here (and all the rest of the Gnomies of course!) then we could do dinner dates whenever we wanted! :woohoo:

Now that you are "in the know" Jess, your situation definitely deserves an OTTFV! I sometimes feel bad about not having a relationship with my in-laws and that my boys will probably never meet 1/2 of their grandparents/aunts/uncles/cousins. Then I hear terrible stories about what others have to deal with and I think maybe I am lucky after all.

My advice would be to pick your battles carefully. There are certain things you will not be able to change about them so be prepared for them and try not to let them get you down. Eventually you will find things that you and Blake will have to put your foot down over and not choosing the little things will hopefully make them see that you mean the ones that are most important to you.

On a happier note, Yay C for a 1/2 day off on a beautiful day :thumbsup2

Good to hear from you Stacy!

Thanks Katie! I understand with your in-law situation though. I'm not sure if I told this story completely, but we (my parents I mean) live in a rowhome, so there's 6 connected to together. We live in the 2nd one, my dad's parents live in the 3rd and my mom's parents live in the 6th. In my 5th grade my mom got in a fight with my dad's parents and even though we were only connected with a fence, we didn't speak from 5th grade until after I graduated college. That included, my aunt and uncle on my dad's side, my cousins...etc, the only person we talked to was my great grandmother.
Thankfully I was able to speak up and got an extra year and a half relationship before my grandfather died just last March. Things are still weird with my aunt/uncle/cousins, but I at least talk to them now, but I'm glad I at least have my grandmother back, especially now that she's by herself.
I certainly regret not speaking up, but I was little and didn't know any better. I know that every situation is different, but when it comes to family things, I get my feelings hurt very easily. So with Blake's family's situation, I'm like you, sometimes I feel bad, sometimes I don't.
Hope you had a good day though! :thumbsup2

Good Morning Gnomies.

TGIF!! :woohoo::yay::dance3::banana::dance3::yay::woohoo:

Jess, I agree with what Katie said, pick your battles carefully. I let a lot slide because sometimes you just have too in order for the more important things. :goodvibes

Hey LL. YIPPEE for 35 days to go.

I have :banana::dance3::yay::woohoo::cheer2:

14 DAYS

Way to rub it in! Hehehe, Just kidding!

Hi everybody! How are you guys today? I see lots of in-law talk goin' on. That bites!

BEAUTIFUL day here yesterday- and than again today. But rain for the weekend.::sad2::

Oh well-o.

:lovestruc

Morning girls!

I'll be thinking of you Jess. Have some fun this weekend!

WooHoo LL for 35 days :woohoo: I saw some threads yesterday talking about the crowd level predictions for May. 8's and 9's, that seems really high for a non-summer/holiday crowd! Rumor has it lots of conventions are coming in May and the resorts will be quite crowded, if that's the case, maybe crowds in the parks won't be quite as high as they think. Here's hoping for you!

Hey Julez, I was surprised to not hear from you yesterday, you must have been productive on your day off! We have had a few days of BEAUTIFUL weather too. Rain is supposed to reach here sometime tomorrow (if it won't be until noon like they are saying now, we may go to a parade in the morning). It's forecasted to be cooler for a couple days then even warmer next week :cool1:

Well, I am starting day 3 of being back on the diet/exercise bandwagon. Day 1 was really hard (I thought about food all day long!), day 2 was easier and I feel really good about it today. I haven't gotten to the gym yet but have taken a number of walks outside, hopefully I'll hit the gym this weekend!

I've been trying to not pay attention to that crowd hype on the boards. I think we will be fine, I haven't gone to check my week, most people have been talking about the first couple of weeks of May. Who knows. I'll be happy just to be in Disney!

I was thinking the same thing, if I were in WDW, I would deal with the crowds!

I feel like I can vent this here. Another thread I read yesterday was an individual complaining that the ADR policies are unfair to him because he cannot plan vacations too far in advance because he is in the military and could be called to duty (you can see why I didn't post this there). Although I felt bad to his situation, I also noticed this person has not 1...not 2...but 3 tickers for trips in the next 3 months, including a Disney cruise. Umm, hello...how about being grateful for the chance to go that often and the great discounts you get!!! I would take any ADR I could (or none at all and just eat CS) if I got to take 3 trips in 3 months!

How about "no, I'm going to Disney World!!":rotfl2:

Jess...soooo sorry about the inlaws!! That really bites! I CAN tell you from experience...that making your own way is the best...no matter how hard it is in the early years!! 2 of my Sils are married to brothers... due to fortunate circumstances (the boys parents are NOT rich) all of the boys recieved land/houses when they were married! I was very jealous...I'm not gonna lie...it took Tom and I 10 years before we were able to buy our own house. Now, I wouldn't change a thing. It was really hard starting out with very little help (some old furniture from the attic...my MIL used to buy a case of baby formula for Kyle when we visited...that sort of thing) but now we have a good life...nice, well behaved kids, nice house...even a dog....and we did it ourselves...it's a good feeling:thumbsup2

Stacy... I hope that the party is a raving success!! we've missed you around here:cloud9: BTW... your igloo isn't gonna melt with the warm up is it?? Do you have to build a new one every year?? :rotfl2:

LL..sorry you hate your job... why don't you go ahead and quit...I did;)

C and Jen and Julez and Katie...miss you gals!!:goodvibes

OK We are travelling this weekend. Allison has sectionals on Sunday morning. The stomach flu has been going around (Tom was off Tues, Kyle missed last week, and I woke up during the night feeling very queasy...but I feel better now) Say a prayer or two that Allison is healthy on Sunday:hug: I'm so worried about her getting sick:scared1:and bombing sectionals...she needs to do well to move onto States.

I woke up AND got outta bed at 5am today:woohoo: but since I didn't feel well..I crawled back in til 7:sad2: OTTV...I gotta get up tomarrow and Sunday! I do feel very rested this week though:thumbsup2

All the Tudor talk..I dug out my Boelyn Inheretance book and finally started reading it last night...i made it thru 50 pages before my designated 'bedtime' I may take it with me this weekend to read at the hotel.... unless we are chatting;) Saturday nite...it's been a while....

Tootles!
