Nobby's Gnomies... heading to WDW in April 2010

Hellooooooooooooooooo Gnomies.

No C yet?

How is everyone doing? I'm having an extremely lazy day. Marc has volunteered to do most of the last minute stuff on Thursday while I'm at work so there isn't a whole lot for me to do. We only have 4 more sleeps in our apartment and then 1 sleep at my parents when we go on Thursday to get our dining room table and new chair. Yayayaya!! This time next week I will be DISing from my new apartment!

Hey LL, that's so exciting about the move coming so soon! We're not doing much today. We had chocolate cake for breakfast since we got home so late last night. The boys fell asleep in the van on the way home so we did Greg's birthday celebration first thing this morning. We're going to go to an open house in an hour or so just to check it out. i'm actually on top of things enough that dinner is already in the crock pot so I'm just going to be lazy for much of the rest of the day.

Hi gnomies! :flower3: I'm back! And I missed you! I still have to go back and catch up on what I missed but thought I'd share some pics of my trip first. Hopefully you'll indulge me!

So it started out meeting LL at TGI Fridays. That was so fun! On my way up I started to worry - "what will we talk about?" "what if she doesn't like me", "do I call her LL?" But I need not have worried. It was great meeting her and I can't wait to meet all the other gnomies!

Nobby had fun too.

Flight went smoothly and I was in paradise by noon on Saturday.

I have about 100 pictures like the one above but I won't bore you with that. So what else did I do?

I went to the spa at a very fancy pants hotel.
DSC01139.jpg

And after an awesome massage I sat and enjoyed a glass of champagne. OK... it was 2 glasses. ;) I think I may have DIS'ed from my blackberry here.

We explored another fancy pants hotel and I thought of LL & the DIS when I saw this light fixture. It was funny b/c several times during the trip I thought to myself about how I needed a picture or to remember it for the trip report... and then I reminded myself I don't need to document every moment of my life... just in Disney! :rotfl:

Nobby came down to the beach once but due to the aforementioned sand in unpleasant places, he preferred to stay on the balcony.

I don't really know who this couple is but I had to take the picture. I want to be like them when I am older. Still in love (or at least look like it) and vacationing in a beautiful place. :thumbsup2

So other than sunning all day long what else did we do? Well we ate. A lot. I think I've gained 4 pounds according to the scale this morning! :scared1:

How's this for the perfect dinner spot?

DSC01132.jpg

And we saw some amazing sunsets.

So all in all, it was a GREAT trip! Very different from the Disney experience but still fantastic. I think I need the balance of the two- the nothing but sun and sand and the Disney experience. So basically I'm going to need more DVC points than I thought. Oh and you can trade DVC points to stay at the resort we stayed in... I'm just saying... :rolleyes1

My next "go somewhere" vacation is Disney in September but I am also planning a week off in the summer to lounge around the house.

So that was my week. Now I'm off to catch up on what happened around here! :goodvibes

I think I am caught up. I took notes so hopefully I don't miss anything.

CP & LL- I'm with you on finding Disney planning calming. At night when I can't sleep I do one of the following: mentally walk around World Showcase remembering what country comes next or go through the alphabet naming something for every letter -- sometimes it's anything Disney, sometimes it's restaurants. You get the idea. So glad I'm not the only nut!

The boards were down for a night???? :scared:

Jess -how is Riley doing?

Paula - Allyson is so cute in the video. What a talented gymnast. We may be seeing her on a Wheaties box someday!

And congratulations on the new job!! :cheer2: Sorry about the July trip but big picture it sounds great. A later post indicated this would take you off working nights? I will admit that my first thought was "how will this impact her DIS'ing?" :blush"

And hurrah for starting to plan for September!! :yay::yay:

Jen (MM) thanks so much for sharing your retreat story. It does sound like a life changing weekend. I'm so glad you got so much out of it!

K- ugh, sorry about the freezer! :headache: Good thing you realized frozen chicken shouldn't squeeze before you ate it! It's working now?

Your house sounds lovely especially your new fireplace surround. How nice Greg is so handy. I will have to add "handy" to my wish list for a potential spouse!

Jen (JJ) and CP - so sorry you had weather scares. Everything is OK?

LL/Marc - FL = heaven's waiting room! :lmao: Wouldn't moving south be so much fun? Weather scares notwithstanding...

Julez- I think attacking the credit card debt first is a good plan! And love your plans of teaching! I think that sounds awesome!! You'll be a fantastic teacher! :goodvibes

Stacy - you go, girl! On your way to a promo already! I hope that a Sept solo trip works out for you but if not gnomefest is practically around the corner! :cool1:

Katie - loved your "what are gnomies for" post. :grouphug: Oh and cracking up at your friend's process for booking a trip and then canceling it and channeling resentment. Perhaps not very mature but effective! ;)

Jen (MM) - what did your aunt and uncle decide to do in terms of ADR's? I'm with LL... no ADRs just doesn't compute! :rotfl:

So free dining is back. :rolleyes1 I wonder how that works with the bounceback deal I booked. I assume I can't just add free dining on top of it. Does anyone know what the "better" deal is?

I think that's it... hope I didn't miss anyone! :flower3:

Yay!! C is back!!! I missed you!! I'm so glad you had a great vacation. Some of your pictures are just beautiful!! :cloud9:

I was thinking those same things all day before we met for dinner. :rotfl2: I can't wait until I'm settled so I can have you up for our Disney Dinner. I have told Marc that he must get those Disney cook books out after we move so he can cook up a culinary storm! :lmao:

Christine, it is soooo gorgeous down in the Caribbean! How were you able to tear yourself away???

LL, can't believe that this time next week you will be in your new apartment!!! I am glad you were able to have a lazy day today. I have been doing, doing, doing today since yesterday all I managed to accomplish was a lot of hand-wringing.

Katie, chocolate cake for breakfast ROCKS!

Hi gnomies!!

Welcome home C!!! I LOVE your pics!! Where exactly were you in the caribbean?? It looks wonderful:lovestruc

Well 2nite's my last nite for the week... then I'm off 7 days..then back for 7more.then I'm done:yay: Easter Sunday is my last night to work, then I'll take the following week off to try to adjust my sleeping schedule:scared:

It will take some getting used to to be ggetting UP at 5am...rather than going to bed then:lmao:

I have a "to do" list a mile long for my next 2 weeks off. I want to try to get my spring cleaning done and stuff. I won't have a long stretch of days off to get it done once I start my new job:upsidedow

It was tough. And WHY is departure day always the most beautiful day of the week??!! :confused3

Thanks P. I was technically in the British West Indies. - the Turks & Caicos islands. So gorgeous.

What a nice feeling to be winding down on your job and getting ready to start your new one. Your to do list sounds ambitious. Remember to take some time for yourself too!! :goodvibes

PS- in the interview process did you happen to ask if you could DIS from work or if they blocked any websites? :rolleyes1

:lmao: You can bring the champagne! :thumbsup2

PERFECT! That I can handle! :) So are you ready? I'm so excited for you. Moving is definitely a lot of work but it's so fun to have a clean slate for your living space and to rethink decorating, organizing etc. I'm sure you're going to love it! And to think next week you'll be posting from your new place! :hyper:

I don't feel ready at all. I feel like there is still a ton to do but Marc assures me that he can finish up on Thursday. He took Wednesday night off, so he'll sleep most of Wednesday after his overnight shift Tuesday and then be a busy bee on Thursday tearing apart the electronics and packing the last minute stuff. :thumbsup2 Then we will go to my parents for a birthday dinner for him which he doesn't know about and then head back to our old apartment on Friday morning. I will pack the cats...hehehe that sounds funny...pick up our keys and he will stay back with the movers. Then let the chaos begin! :3dglasses

Paula, that is just so exciting that you are almost done!! :yay: Are you going to be working Monday - Friday?

for a while (probably thru May???:confused3) They won't put me on weekends til I'm trained. but once I start weekends, it'll be every other one, just like I have since I graduated college LOL!!

I may need to check that out... Tom and i still have to decide where to go next year for our 15th, and something relaxing is definatly on his list:goodvibes

I don't have time not to be productive these next 2 weeks off... i'm gonna start with the stuff I hate the most and get it outta the way!!

I did not ask about DISing... I'm DISing at work now, even though I'm not allowed... really, what are they gonna do fire me??

Paula

Good morning gnomies! "Happy" Monday. It sure is tough to go back to work after vacation, isn't it? Which explains why it's 7:30 and I'm still in my pjs! :scared: And why I'm wishing for the umpteenth time that I was independently wealthy and/or had a job that I loved. Oh well... off to shower. Hope it's a great week for you!! :upsidedow

"Happy" Monday. The only good thing about this Monday is that it means only SEVEN more Mondays until Disney!!

Good morning my GNomies!! I caught up on some TR's and started a couple new ones last night.

Chicago was fun- but EXPENSIVE!! Holy cow, our "weekend getaway" ended up costing over $300!!! :scared1:

The kids had fun though, and that's what matters, right?!

Gotta head off to work- everyone have a great day!!

Oh yea, and BTW Christine-welcome back!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE the picture of Nobby w/the beautiful background- the closeup. Very awesome. :thumbsup2

"Happy" Monday indeed! It was so miserable out this weekend that I didn't go to school to finish running gels for my thesis. So I told Blake to wake me up this morning when he gets up. Fortunately my "job" right now let's me sleep in until when I want to, but I wanted to get a head start this morning and try and get my stuff done early at school, or at least that's what I thought last night when I had asked him. Blake comes in at 7:15 this morning when he typically gets up for work, normally I get up around 9, and he hands me a bowl of cereal and some coffee. I must have looked ridiculous, I felt like I was in middle school and my mom was dragging me out of bed. I whined, complained...then Blake literally picked me up this morning and put me in the bathroom after I had rolled over and went back to bed after my coffee. :rotfl:

Oy...but alas I am here at work, before 9, and I'm going down to run my stuff now. I hope you girls have a better start to your day! :surfweb: ;)

Good Morning Gnomies!!

Well its official I have internet at my house again and how happy I am for that!!

C...WELCOME HOME and thanks for sharing the pictures. Looks like you had some gorgeous scenery and it sounds like you had a great time!!!

P...good luck getting your list done...I wish you the best!!

Julez and Katie....Have a great Monday...hope you have a great week too!!!

Stace and Jess...you guys have a great week too.. Stace I'm crossing my fingers for your promotion...you totally deserve it!!

LL...I'm so happy the move is almost here...just think a new home is awaiting you!!

CP: How are you feeling??? One more week until Spring Break...One more week until Spring Break LOL

So my inlaws come in this weekend and my house is no where near clean enough for them to see it UGHHH...I know they won't care but I things to move...I think I might make one room completely off limits so they can't go in it and I can just throw things in there LOL!!!

Jess, I think if Blake had a video camera that it would make for a hilarious video of waking you up in the morning. :rotfl2:;)

Jen, I am the same way! My house has to be super clean for company. I am having a panic attack about MIL & FIL coming over Friday night to the new apartment. Ugh. Granted they won't expect much but you know, I still want it to look as nice as possible.
