No zebras on Zebra Trail at AKL?????

Is this correct? Why is it called the Zebra trail if there are NO Zebras? Which savannah actually has the zebras?

You will see that the zebra trail and the kudo trail are both on the main inner "horseshoe" of the resort... you will also notice the opposite side of zebra trail has poolview rooms

I read it on a post asking for opinions of AKL versus WL. Someone said they were on the Zebra Trail and there were no Zebras on the savannah. Maybe it was just a temporary thing or they weren't visible. I started to panic because I specifically requested the Zebra Trail and wanted to see Zebras!!

There are no zebra's on the Sunset Savannah, (Kudu Trail). BUT, this savannah has more giraffe than the others.

Having stayed on both Zebra trail and Kudo trail I can tell you that we saw WAY more animals on Zebra trail, including lots of giraffes and zebras! Not only are there the most animals on Zebra trail, but it is more open, whereas Kudu trail has a lot of trees obscuring the view.

There are zebras on Zebra Trail but you need to stay on the Arusha side of that wing. The other side of Zebra trail is on the Uzima savanna which does not have Zebras. So...... you need to request Zebra Trail and the Arusha Savanna as well.

I believe it is the Sunset Savannah that does not have zebras. I remember some CM saying that this is because the zebras and the Thompsons gazelles do not get along and aren't kept on the same savannah.

If you want zebras, they're definitely on the Arusha savannah. The savannah rooms on Zebra trail will face either the Arusha or Uzima savannahs. I don't remember seeing zebras on Uzima. There aren't many savannah rooms overlooking Uzima; those are mostly pool view.

I don't believe the names of the trails have anything to do with which animals are visible from the rooms; they're just a reference. The Giraffe Trail is either standard or pool view and the only animals you'd see from balconies there would have two legs and no feathers.

There are many zebra on the zebra trail. The Zebras are on the Arusha Rock savanna which you can view from the Kudu or the Zebra Trail.

Zebra and Wildabeast(sp?) are only on the Arusha Rock savanna. The Arusha Rock savanna can be viewed from rooms on both the Kudu or Zebra trails.

Hello, FYI we just returned stayed Zebra trail rm 4052, I loved it great location, But, never once saw a zebra from the room, Girraffes, ankole cattle gazzelles, vultures, all kinds of fowl. But not one zebra.

As the other posters indicated, it goes by savannahs, not by trails. A savannah view room on the zebra trail will overlook either the Arusha or Uzima savannahs. We were on the Zebra trail. Loved our location - very convenient to everything. We overlooked Uzima savannah and saw MANY zebras. If you take a good look at the resort map, it does list animals on the different savannahs. We were told zebras are very aggressive and can not be put with some of the other animals. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the feedback....I will also be looking to request the Zebra Trail/facing Arusha Savannah....we have requested the Queen/Bunk Bed Rooms....are there alot of this trail? Also which floor is best...

Hi there,

I just got back from my stay at AKL. We were on Arusha Savannah, kudu trail rooms 5237 and 5239.

We saw TONS of animals every day. Lots of giraffe, ankole cattle, gemsboks (sp?) and loads of Zebras. Sometimes there were 5 and 6 at a time right outside our room.

I loved our location. The views were centrally located over Arusha Savannah. WOnderful.

Did you happen to be at the AKL during the time frame when they were rehabing the Arusha Savanna? Zebra and wildebeests are only on the Arusha Savanna when all three of the savannas are open. We have stayed at the AKL on three different trips and were told that by CMs and saw it to be the case on each trip. Giraffes are on each savanna.

Tiffany - No, we were not there during the reab of Arusha Savannah. However, as I think back, perhaps we saw the zebras entering and leaving the savannah. Our room had a view of where they took the animals on and off of the savannahs. I thought I remember them coming closer to the room as well, but I could be mistaken. Anyhow, the view was great! And it was cute how the animals all came over to the gate at a certain time of the day. They knew when it as their turn to go in the the barn(?) each day!

We had a room on Zebra Trail and we saw them everyday of our stay along with the wilderbeast.
