No Work and All Play – Disney on the Company’s Dime! (8/1 There and Back Again)

Loved the last two updates. I enjoyed the pics of the Monstropolis. I don't ave any pictures from there.

I love "that guy". It's the best part of the show. Maybe next time, huh?

And, what is this? No pictures of Sonny Eclipse???? I can't believe it. You must have been really hungry!

Actually, I was just taking it easy chilling with Sonny.
And I knew I had lots of pics from earlier in the year of him (see previous TR's) so I was "off duty." :)

I really like the pic of Monstropolis through the window myself.
I never noticed that window before since it's right when you walk in.
Usually I'm in too much of a hurry to get inside and get settled.
The things you miss when you don't slow down...

Glad you enjoyed your lunch with Sonny! :) As for the school group, I remember seeing a lot of unruly groups that trip most of which had chaperones who looked too tired to care.

Yeah, I can't imagine bringing a large children's group to Disney - there's too much going on.
But you are right - I also saw several of these groups wandering around that week.

Great, now I want cheese fries... :rolleyes1

And there's a problem with that? :confused3

OK, it's a HUGE stretch, but are you headed to Snow White? You know, the diamond mine/gems... :confused3

:rotfl:
Okay, even *I* wouldn't be that evil.
I literally meant a couple of little details in Fantasyland that are relatively new, changed, or that I had not had a chance to really explore yet.

First stop was to find the “secret path” to Fantasyland.
Apparently, I never noticed the little path winding from the Enchanted Grove towards the castle.
And, due to that error, I’ve never seen Cinderella’s Well (other than in pictures of course).
So I said good-bye to Sonny and headed straight for it.
IOUG2009916.jpg

This is a really beautiful spot with a nice vantage point of Magic Kingdom.
A perfect place for romantic gestures such as proposals or fun ones like a character meet and greet.
Actually, in hindsight, I’m surprised the Fairy Godmother or Suzy and Perla don’t gather here regularly.
IOUG2009917.jpg

Needless to say, I vowed to take my princess here on our next visit.
What 5-year old would not love a chance to make a wish on Cinderella’s Wishing Well?
And check out the details on the well itself – awesome sculpture details.

As for me, I was ready to take on a Giant!
And what better place to do so than Sir Mickey’s!
IOUG2009918.jpg

This little Fantasyland shop was built to reference two Mickey shorts – “Mickey and the Beanstalk” as well as “The Brave Little Tailor”.
The shop itself is basically themed as a tailor’s workshop.
If you look closely inside, you will find sewing supplies among the decorations on the wall as well as a painting of the village from the “Brave Little Tailor”
IOUG2009919.jpg

However, it’s the more obvious details that draw more attention to this locale.
The outside is covered in the vines of a huge beanstalk.
The inside continues that theme including a brave Sir Mickey making his way up that same beanstalk.
(Note the sewing machine, scissors, and thread behind our Brave Little Tailor)
IOUG2009923.jpg

Of course, it’s all to protect the fair maiden, Minnie Mouse.
IOUG2009921.jpg

But our hero should take heed.
He is not alone in his quest as the Giant himself has come down from on high to see what’s going on with this magical beanstalk.
And since he can’t really enter the shop himself, he simply made his own entrance by ripping off the ceiling!
IOUG2009922.jpg

I love that bit of detail.
And to top off our love story, the gift with purchase was a throw with the famous mice in front of a certain equally famous castle.
After all, this is a gift shop (I tend to forget that sometimes).
IOUG2009924.jpg

After a brush with a Giant, I decided to try the other extreme - Fairies!
No, not Pixie Hollow.
I wanted to explore the two remodelled shops that have recently appeared in Fantasyland.
The first – Tinker Bell’s Fairy Treasures
IOUG2009925.jpg

Besides tons of fairy merchandise, there is this out-of-place “window” behind the cash register.
IOUG2009930.jpg

Ask politely to the CM behind the counter if Tinker Bell, herself, is around and you’ll get a surprise.
Replacing the old “Wake up Tinker Bell” which was done only once a day, now you can call her throughout the day.
With the aid of the CM and the ringing of a special bell, I was able to make Tink herself appear to say “hi.”
Another must when I come back with my little princess…

The other side of the store has been turned into Castle Couture and has a Sleeping Beauty “feel” to it.
IOUG2009932.jpg

This comes across even more as the fairies from that story continue their colorful discussion.
Should Aurora’s dress be pink?
IOUG2009928.jpg

Or Blue?
IOUG2009926.jpg

You can hear them bickering as the dress magically changes colors.
And just when you thought you’ve seen all the fairies you could see, outside is one of the more famous.
The Fairy Godmother herself was meeting and greeting all the little princesses of the Kingdom.
And, of course, one not-so-little prince…
IOUG2009933.jpg

Be sure to grab your coat and hat – it’s time for “a stroll right down the middle of Main Street U.S.A!”

Wow - I never visit those places in the MK and that was so fun. I love the picture of the wishing well. I have never been in Sir Mickey's and your pictures prove that I seriously need a visit. What a cool theme!

I haven't been in Castle Couture either. I figured it was kids clothes. I love Aurora's color changing dress. Very cool.

OK - I am officially adding these things to my September tour list!

I'm shocked you'd never seen the wishing well before! Glad you finally found it! :goodvibes

I love Castle Couture and the color changing dress. Dale and I spotted that for the first time last Sept. and thought it was a really creative addition!

Great pictures :thumbsup2

Granted they are gift shops, not attractions, but you have to love Disney's attention to details.
I believe recently Castle Couture was even dubbed the "Royal Dressmaker" to blend with the new Fantasyland Forest theme.
And a new sign indicating that change is on the front.

We even bought a charm bracelet for my DD5 last time there which will be our new tradition.
So every visit to MK, we will make a point to stop there and get her a new charm for her bracelet. :goodvibes

Yeah, not sure why I never stumbled across that not-so-hidden-but-hidden-to-me path to the well.
But it is a great picture spot.

As for the gift shops, Fantasyland seems to have the most fun in this dept.
And I imagine it shall only get better with the Fantasyland Forest addition.
Even Pooh's shop has fun details scattered around it as well as the Dwarve's Mine.

Well I had quite the little bit of catching up to do after being on vacation for a week !

Great Monsters Inc. queue pictures :thumbsup2 We have never been chosen to be that guy on any of our 4 trips but that's OK cause I'm a little shy when it comes to that type of thing lol

We love Cosmic Rays too and Sonny is great ! I agree we hardly ever eat burgers at WDW , there so much more selection than burgers . I guess some people only see the burgers lol

Nice Sir Mickey's Pictures :thumbsup2

We have never checked out the well either , must do that next trip !

Nice Fantasyland shop pictures , I  that Aurora dress soo pretty !

If your gonna be walking down Main Street U.S.A. dose that mean this trip is coming to a close ? Sorry just really excited hear about your fall trip before we leave for ours lol

Yup! Unfortunately this trip is winding down. :sad1:
I think I have one or two more segments left (I expect to post tonite so I'll see if I need to break it up or not).
But I'm already prepping the pics for our Halloween '09 trip! :cool1:
When are you guys leaving?
My current deadline is before we leave in January 2011 - I figure 6 months is enough time, right? :lmao:

BTW, I just wanted to say a great big THANK YOU to :worship:Dawn and :worship:PrincessCaitlin.
Since Dawn is my travel agent for our upcoming trip, she (with the help of Caitlin) diligently called and called and locked in our ADR's for January.
So, with resort and airlines booked and ADR's made, we're on the clock! :cool1:
The ticker below has us at less than six months!! :woohoo:

Alas, it was time to bid the Magic Kingdom farewell.
The latest Dream Along with Mickey show had just ended so you could see the smoke still in the air around the castle.
IOUG2009934.jpg

I headed down Main Street for the last time but couldn’t bear to leave without another visit to my khaki-clad friends.
Photopass2009470.jpg

And, of course, being in the Magic Kingdom and on my way out – Tink just had to come visit once again!
Photopass2009474.jpg

Photopass2009476.jpg

I headed to Town Square and instead of heading through the tunnel, I decided to head up the ramp.
I wanted one more look down Main Street U.S.A.
Believe it or not, I’ve never stopped to “smell the roses” at the Main Street Railroad Station.
It’s such a wonderful view!
IOUG2009935.jpg

The Castle lies in the distance.
Guests are swarming all over in search of their favorite attractions.
And characters are even out in the middle of Town Square meeting and greeting all the little ones.
Today was Daisy Duck
IOUG2009936.jpg

And Pluto
IOUG2009937.jpg

With the American flag raised high, I took one last shot before heading out.
IOUG2009940.jpg

However, I noticed some details in the tunnel under the station.
Who else loves those old attraction posters?

Pirates of the Caribbean
IOUG2009941a.jpg

The Mad Tea Party
IOUG2009943a.jpg

Snow White’s Adventures (note the lack of the word “Scary”)
IOUG2009944a.jpg

Splash Mountain
IOUG2009945a.jpg

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
IOUG2009946a.jpg

Tomorrowland
IOUG2009947a.jpg

Walt Disney World Railroad
IOUG2009949a.jpg

Makes you glimpse the past of this place.
Back into the sunlight, there’s one more glimpse of Mickey out front of the majestic Railroad Station
IOUG2009951.jpg

And, of course, who could leave the parks without one more visit to Photopass.
Photopass2009480.jpg

Tink Waves Good-Bye
Photopass2009491.jpg

And then so does Mickey
Photopass2009489.jpg

Stay tuned as I wrap up my solo trip!

I really enjoy those posters in the tunnel- as a girl they really got me pumped up when entering the park! Such memories!

Just a FYI- all the DC MEET info is on my thread- if you've thought more about it with Mom Capell, I need a final count by August 19th or so.

THere are other kids coming, as well as some teens; I think the total count right now is 13 of us.

Hope you can join us, since you're right in the neighborhood!

It's so hard to say that final farewell to the Magic Kingdom, isn't it?!
Dale loves those old posters and has searched the parks looking for them with no luck!
Cute Tink pictures :)

GREAT pictures! I'm making it a point to go up the ramp to take a picture of Main St. before we leave MK this trip. I never knew you could go up there. :)

Sad to see this trip come to an end, but ready for your Oct. 09 TR!!! popcorn::

Yeah, I never really paid them much attention before.
Usually either running through too fast to get to stuff or being too sad on my way out. :goodvibes

Apparently Dale needs to slow down on your way into (or out of) Magic Kingdom next time! ;)

The Railroad offers an awesome view of Main St.
In fact, I hear that now the AAA "VIP Viewing" of Wishes! is from this spot.
How nice a view is that!?!?!?

I meant that he's looked all over where to buy copies of them :) He's dragged us in tons of stores in his search

Oooh, those would be awesome to have hanging in our house!
You have to let me know if he ever finds them!!!
I love the Tomorrowland one!
