Monday August 2nd

Returned our hire bikes before driving up to Anna Maria. Love the scenery, some very picturesque buildings but found the sand coarser than Siesta Key Beach. Had a walk up a couple of piers and went for an ice cream in a cafe, but we didn't stay long as it was just too hot and tiring, couldn't wait to get back in the car!

Don't know where the policemen were, probably having an ice cream too!

Drove back through Longboat Key and Lido Beach. Stopped at St. Armands Circle where Glen bought some swimming shorts (as if he hasn't got enough clothes already) looked for somewhere to eat but we couldn't agree on anywhere!
Arrived back home mid afternoon so called in a bar near home called Boatyard Waterfront for some food. Sat outside (silly really as it was so hot). John has taken a liking for grouper so had that yet again.

Packed up a few things for our return to Orlando tomorrow.

Hi Wendy
We love Anna Maria
We always have lunch at the restuarant on City Peir, I love their grouper sandwich. :thumbsup2

More lovely sunsets I see. :goodvibes

Nice touch having the boys in the foreground of this sunset series. Most of your photos make it look like you had the resort to yourself.

some fantastic photos, love the ones of the boys & the sunsets.you must be really pleased, with those pictures:)

Once again some fab photos, I've really enjoyed your sunset pics ::yes::

we love anna maria island, you piccies are fab as usual, sounds like a really hot day :cool2:

We love Anna Maria Island. You can see how hot it is in your pictures - sunset ones are stunning again. We ate at rod and reel pier in December and it was cold - locals thought we were mad to sit outside.

It all looks absolutely beautiful ... may well have to visit this area in the future as it looks so scenic and laid back. Love your photos ... some spectacular sunset shots!

that heat has to be felt to be believed. Sounds like you had a wonderful few days by the beach.

From your photos, Anna Maria looks a lovely place :goodvibes

How far is this from Disney ?
Is it do-able in one day with an early start, or would you suggest an overnight stop

We stayed a little further down the coast and I think it was 140 mile journey (that's why we broke it up stopping at BG on the way down, but drove straight back on the return journey) so I would guess Anna Maria may be about 110 from Orlando . To be able to relax and make the most of a dip in the sea as well as a look round I would recommend an overnight stop at least.
