I have to post this, maybe then I'll understand that it is real.

Yesterday my FI lost his job and now our trip next year will be cancelled. I just can't get it wraped around my brain.....*SIGH*
I just can't belive this.

Sorry Bambi that just plain stinks.... I had to cancel my trip last fall, not fun.. But don't worry things work out. Maybe your not goint this time will make the next time you go more magical...

I'm sorry to hear that, I hope things get better soon and you can plan a future trip.

Hope things get better soon! Just look at it this way, it was 5 years since I've last visited Disney World! Like Spyke said, it will be better next trip. This trip that I'm planning is already so much better than all the previous years, a lot more memorable too. Maybe it may be that way for you. Good luck in the future. :)

I' m sorry to hear your bad news....losing a job is always pretty devastating. And knowing that there will be no WDW trip in the works has got to hurt.

I think I will eventually have to space my trips to one every 2-3 years and I'm really sad thinking there could be a year where I won't be going. But I have to understand that WDW will still be there when I go back and that it will be just as wonderful....Cheer up I think alot of people are in your shoes, I'M sure as sonn as you guys find a new job you can start planning again....even if it's far away...it's gonna cheer you up.

I'm in the same boat. I thought that I was going to have to cancel my trip this May as well. It is starting to look like we will at least be able to keep this trip but there won't be another one for a few years. :guilty:

I know just how you feel. We cancelled our planned trip for this year because there was a lot of instability at dh's company .... sure enough, in February they laid him off. :( We're so glad now that we had the foresight to cancel!

Hopefully he'll have something new soon, and I'm already half-saved-up for our planned 15th anniversary trip in '06.

Hang in there -- you're not alone! :grouphug:

I totally understand :( We had to resched. this past Dec. to Dec. 2005 due to Dh and his brother closing the family business right after Thanksgiving. He was able to find a job within 3 weeks, but his salary has been greatly reduced. As long as we keep the house and food on the table we'll be fine.

What sacrifices you make now, will just make your next trip to WDW even sweeter!!

Hi, I am sorry to hear about your situation. I have to put off our next trip for a year because of budget issues that came up. As one who always has to wait & save for years between vacations of any kind, I know it's not easy! A few years ago I was also temporarily unemployed, and it is scary. When things calm down (and they always do, somehow), you can start planning another trip. I wish you many blessings, and a wonderful trip sometime in the future.

I am so sorry. It's not easy. We were supposed to leave April 12th (I still have to cancel my airfare to be honest) for an 8 day trip to WDW. We are not going. I too unexpectedly lost my job in late February. I had been holding out hope. However, I had to face the truth this weekend which is that we just are not going.
We're thinking of going camping in early May for something to look forward too. Not the same as Disney, but it can be done for like 1/20th the cost.
Hang in there!!!!

We were in a similar situation last year. DH lost his job in Feb. due to the sale of the company. It took him 4 months to find another position with a comparable salary, and made our planned trip to WDW last summer impossible. After spending most of the past year playing catch up financially, we are finally taking that trip at the end of June. There is a light at the end of that dark tunnel, hope you see it soon.

Thanks so much for all of the encouragement. I really needed it. After talking about it we will be able to go in 2007 for a big trip. In the mean time, I am hoping to save a bit up just to go for a few days....I'll have to wait and see.
