It could have been a lot worse of a pay cut though & I'm sure once holiday season comes around or certain managers are on vacations, he'll end up with extra overtime so it may end up working out more in our favor but I don't want to count on that. If no overtime, he'll at least be at home more.
I hope it will end up in your favor! Good to see the glass half full though...even if it is hard to at times. I mean at least he is employed, right?
ToT is the only major race I have planned. The 5K on Saturday for Make-A-Wish isn't really something I'm training for as there is a group of 22 of us from work doing it & a bunch will be walking so I'm not sure I'll be running the whole thing. Then I have nothing else booked. We will do the
Castaway Cay 5k in September during our cruise though. Depending on the info we get for my husband's San Diego Achievers trip with work and schedules & locations of things, there is a 10K on May 10th in San Diego we may do so we can get Proof of Time for ToT. If not, I'm keeping an eye out on that website for 10Ks that we would be able to do reasonably before July 1st. Right now, it isn't looking too good.
Getting a POT could definitely help get you into a corral that would allow for more pictures and such. July 1 is the cut off? I think I knew that. I just have different ones in my mind that I am trying to remember. I thought avengers was July 1....
Are you searching runningtheusa? best site ever!
I may do the Princess but that isn't set in stone either. If a few of the people from work want to do it, I will or we may do the 10K instead together.
Yeah, the princess isn't set in stone for me either. I really want to... and I kinda budgeted points for it. I just am not sure it is such a good idea right after January. Especially since dh is now supporting the idea that I go dopey...
If I did the dopey I wouldn't do the phm. I also would have to takle training and the races an entirely different way. I think I could do it. Run the 5k, walk the 10k, run the half and then walk the full. I
think that would be my plan. However, I am already struggling with what training program to get on board with and the dopey is a much more involved plan. Then again... maybe I wouldn't need to do too much more? I could run a 5k tomorrow and then a half a couple days later. It is just those additional 32.4 miles that I would need to be able to walk.
Hopefully one day I'll get to that maintenance mode too!
I think you don't have to get to that point. I am not sure I am normal that way. I think normal people take breaks... they train only when they have to and build up miles when they have to. I am just always afraid if I stop I won't be able to get started again. I started because I had good reason to. Now I am needing to reevaluate what drives me and motivates me.
I think this would be the downside if I went into maintenance mode

Running shoes are so expensive too but I guess I could just look as it as 2 dinners out with my husband.
I try to look at it this way too... I cut my starbucks consumption down a bit to pay for some of my running addiction... go out to movies less... etc. Something to note though... I get as minimalist shoes and I can. (low heel to toe drop) So there is not a lot of material there. If I got shoes that were more substantial (I would be paying the same) and if I didn't wear them unevenly, I could probably get closer to 500 or maybe even 600 miles on them. THAT is a lot better!
IF I make my goal of 1000 miles this year that means maybe every six or seven months a new pair of shoes.
It will be interesting to see where my pace is on the road when I get to run outside on Tuesday. My shins are probably thanks to the fact that I have such well developed calves & thighs, my shins haven't gotten this much attention so they need to balance themselves out.
I think that another area that can cause trouble for shins is where the tendon attaches under the foot. I know that is where dh has to use "the stick" on to "loosen things"
I'm excited for Saturday as well as it will be fun to go with as large of a group as I am, especially for such a great cause. Then there will be some fun day activities there afterwards.
Sounds like a fun time! Going with a group can definitely be a great experience.
