31 minutes on the bike followed by some arm & core muscle work.

W13D2 Run @ the Gym. I tried the FRS chews I had been given in one of the strideboxes at the 30 minute mark as well. I think it helped me not die off at the end unlike the other day.

Rest!

This was supposed to be the W13D3 run. About 15 minutes into my run, my boss called my cell phone so I had to get off the treadmill to speak with him (I actually haven’t seen my boss since the end of April between my vacations & his business trips so I couldn’t really ignore him as every other convo I’ve had with him as been in texts) So after I dealt with the information that needed to be given, I tried to get back on the treadmill and back into my run. It just wasn’t there. I kept thinking about the work stuff I needed to get done & then I started getting text messages from him so I just quit as my mind wasn’t in it anymore.

Friday, May 23rd

One of my girl friends convinced me to join her at the Zumba class the gym we go to does.

Zumba isn’t really for me but at least it was something different.

Saturday, May 24th

I did W14D1 of C210K. I didn’t really go hardcore on it as I didn’t want to risk hurting myself before a race & it showed in my pace.

Shaun & I went shopping this afternoon at our local Fit2Run & I stocked up on different fueling items. I’m excited to get to try the different items over the runs the next month.

Lazy day as tomorrow is 5k day!

ToT Costume Talk For Dis_Yoda

I’ve been trying to decide on a costume for ToT that is actually can be ran in. I don’t want something that is going to be hot or overly complicated. Once I pick mine, my husband will be able to get something that will fit with it (well, really just a t-shirt or tech-shirt) I don’t like running with sleeves on so everything presented here is sleeveless.

Option #1

tr4lADX.png

Vadar dress where I can wear my compression capris under. It is also black so it will hide my sweat well.

Option #2

vGuSAVG.png

Boba Fett dress where I will wear my compression capris under as well. Thoughts about this one would be that the green would show a ton of sweat by the end.

Option #3

Either of these tank tops for Vadar:

or Boba Fett

With either these leggings or my basic black capris.

Option #4
Any of the following tank tops with just my capris.

Obviously, I’m still really undecided. Thoughts?

Those dresses are super cute! Considering you are running the ToT no one is going to be concerned about seeing a some sweat, but I can understand wanting to hide it, I might too(especially if there are photo ops!). Have you ever ran in a dress? Do you think the length may bump against your legs? May be better to go with one of the tanks then. Although still get the dress just to wear for fun! :lovestruc

So proud of you keeping at it! Can't wait to party with you at TOT!

Thanks! ToT is going to be so much fun.

Omg I love them all. The dress is cute. I'm doing red queen :)

I love them all too. This is why I have such a hard time deciding.

Its more the photo ops that I'm concerned about the sweat with. I mean, once we're done, I'll be partying in Hollywood Studios with about 10,000 more super smelly people. :crowded:

I haven't ran in a dress before but whatever I do decide on I would do a run up and down my street to see how it handles. Although you did give me an idea of just getting one of the dresses & using it for MNSSHP.

I never thought about running in a dress! But I could see that type of dress as being very comfortable, kind of like a long tank. And they are ADORABLE. Where did you find them?

Yeah, that type of dress I think I could get away running in as long as I have something on underneath it.

I found them on Her Universe

The other items are either from Superhero Stuff, Hot Topic, Think Geek, or Etsy. I looked at Jinx but everything there was t-shirts rather than tank tops. I also fought with the Amazon search too much to even attempt to search for what I was wanting.

They're from a website called Her Universe. They have a ton of stuff, I want the Ewok hoodie tank :D

I want that hoodie tank too but I heard its sold out at Star Wars Weekends on the SWW thread. Looking at the size chart online, I can tell its cut like Juniors as the XL's chest measurement is less than 35". I have a feeling my 'ladies' can't handle that small of size. :worried: I wouldn't want to get one until I could actually see it in person. It seems the rest of the items there are cut like normal ladies at least.

I will say, if the dress is long enough, you could peel off your shorts after the race and just walk around in it. Might be a lot cooler, especially if you don't want to change.

I want in on the ToT costume talk!!!

Love your optoins- super cute. Although, those pants will probably be very hot to run in with the ToT weather, don't you think? I know it would be for me, but then we all know I overheat in 65 degree weather!

I decided to go with Captian hook. Do you follow that runner Kelly that does all the Disney races? I am modeling my costume off hers. I have a red tank that I will sew gold 'collar' on and I bought a Hook Bow off etsy (in lieu of a heavy, hot hat). I will wear my black sparkle skirt and make a foam belt buckle & shoe buckles. That will keep my clothing to a minimum for the race!

Awesome job on the running! You are doing so great! I took a week off due to a horrible cold. I am forcing myself down the next three days to do about 3 miles each day on the treadmill at my lunch hour. Just to get my runs in before my cruise when I know I won't do any running. Because I plan on relaxing!

I never thought about that idea. I don't care about having to change. I planned on having a sun dress in my bag for easy switch along with my underarmour flip flops.

Love the costume ideas! My favourite is Vader!

Thanks! I think I'm leaning towards that choice too especially in light of yesterday's announcement. Two uses for 1 outfit!

I only run in my compression capris so thats is what I'm going to be wearing no matter what top I do. It gets really hot here too so I know what I'm getting into at least. You may overheat in 65 degree weather but if I was in 65 degrees while running, I would be in :cloud9: Most days its in the 80s to 90s here with varying humidity especially as its the start of rainy season.

Captain Hook will be cute & probably not very common either. I understand wanting to be minimal for clothing! Capris/Tanks or Cotton Dress/Sports Bra is about it for me. I'm going to avoid many accessories as well.

I have been doing great until this week but I start real training next week so I'm allowed 1 lazy week in the midst of the training that will be my next 7.5 months. Hope you were able to get your runs in!

Good job with your training! You are really sticking to it!! Very impressive. :thumbsup2

Costumes - First... looks like you have Star Wars on the brain. Maybe they will be better suited for the new race that was just announced? Second... they are all super cute. My only concern is fabric and how they would "feel" running in. (ie. do they chaff and what not) I personally am a fan of any type of running skirt or dress...so I really like the vader dress. :goodvibes

I had been doing really well, until this week but we all have weeks like that.

It was on the brain because of the trip we just had. I plan on just reusing the same shirt/dress for both races to save on costs. As it is now, I pretty much run in either tech type tank tops or normal cotton tank tops. I hate any type of sleeve on my arms. They haven't seem to chaff my arms yet even on the runs just under 5 miles. Even the dresses, I'll still have compression wear underneath as I have no desire to chaff my thighs. I wore skirts yesterday all day at Hollywood Studios without having shorts underneath. I totally know better than to do that too. :headache: I"m leaning more towards the Vader dress or tank now. At least I have 4 months to decide.

May Week 4 Running Update/Judicata 5k

Monday, May 26th/Judicata 5K
We woke up this morning at 6:00AM to get ready for our 5K & I realized, I really don’t enjoy running with my husband. He annoys me. I annoy him. This is going to make ToT interesting but we do have 4 months to try to make us annoy each other less. I told him to run by himself prior to the race but he wanted to run with me & I knew it wasn’t going to go well. When running on the roads by myself, I’m zoned out and can make little goals for myself such as I’ll run probably a bit faster than I should until this random landmark then take a short walk break and so on. It is what works for me as I’m still in need of better endurance. When he is with me, he gets aggravated with that and thus I don’t tend to run as much as I would by myself as instead of my internal battle with various made up ‘goals,’ I’m having a fake argument in my head with him. Driving home, he said I’m done running with you until ToT :rotfl: I could have told him that.

Here are the official results:

15th from last!

My pace is better than what it was for the Walk for Wishes 5K in April. That does make me happy. I also didn’t feel fatigued at the end and was in no pain. What also makes me happy in the details from mapmyrun is that the first mile is my fastest full mile that wasn’t on a treadmill, I think, outside of that day I was angry at the world on April 9th. I also apparently weaved enough at the beginning that I gained .15 miles over the course.

The rest of the day was lazy as we had a cookout with some of my coworkers.

Tuesday, May 27th
Rest Day. I decided this week I’m going to be rather lazy outside of my planned runs. I start the Couch to Half Marathon app on June 3rd so this is a good break week.

The other exciting thing for the day was Disney announcing the Star Wars Half Marathon! That is great, except its in Disneyland & to do that, the costs increase a lot as now I have to worry about hotel, flights, park tickets, vacation time. It also means saying goodbye to the Las Vegas trip we were planning for our anniversary in February 2015 as there is no way to swing both trips due to cost & vacation time. (Farewell Robuchon Degustation Menu!)

I figured when bringing this up to Shaun, it would take some begging/pleading/puppy dog eyes. There would be no way he would agree to run a race on the other side of the country, right?

Imagine my surprise when the conversation went like this:

It is like he read my mind & wanted the same as me! Run Disney will be getting $640+fees from me on June 4th & I can finally have an official Disneyland trip. My husband has never been to those parks & I only did 7 hours in Disneyland in the middle of an interview trip for a job I didn’t get (nor wanted after the interview)

The other thing that excites me about this race when I posted on Facebook is that one of my sorority sisters from college, who now lives in Carlsbad, wants to run this with me (although she is more speedy than I but that means Shaun will have a running partner!) Another one of my friends from an online game I've played off & on since 2008 & also loves Disney is going to try to sign up as well. She's a little faster but told me she would slow down for me so I know I have a viable running partner that won't be aggravated with me. She's sometimes on these boards when she's planning her cruises.

Wednesday, May 28th
I was lazy again. I did get all packed for our Star Wars Weekend trip though.

Thursday, May 29th
And another lazy day. I went to the movies (Maleficent) with 2 girl friends instead.

Friday, May 30th
Hollywood Studios day! I also did go to the gym this afternoon intent on doing a run for W14D2. I got about 5 minutes in & just couldn’t stay motivated. I just went for 30 minutes on the bike instead & then ab work.

Saturday, May 31st
Hollywood Studios again! This involved a lot of walking. When we got back to resort for an afternoon break (that wasn’t in the original plans), I ended up swimming for 20 minutes & going on the bike for 28 minutes.

Sunday, June 1st
We went to Magic Kingdom this morning then drove home. I honestly was shocked when I got home around 1:00PM and got on the scale. I hadn’t gained any weight while at Disney this weekend, even with the excess of food & alcohol (I mean, look at dinner on May 30th) After unpacking, getting some updates done to my May 2014 Trip Report and giving the dogs attention, we headed to the gym for a bit before we went to the grocery store so we actually had food in the house.

DuePvQn.png

I didn’t go too fast as I wasn’t following any program and just went between walking & running as I felt like it. I don’t start the next training program until Tuesday.

May Health Update
For the month of May, I only lost 2.6 lbs. I don’t find it to be that bad considering the amount of travel I did during this month. When traveling, I tend to drink a lot more than normal and eat a lot worse too. Measurement wise from April 27th, I’m down 2 inches in my waist, .75” in my hips & .5” in my thighs.

Total Miles Per Pedometer:
5/4 to 5/10: 54.8 miles (102,317 total steps) Daily Steps Average: 14616.7
5/11 to 5/17: 36.7 miles (67,167 total steps) Daily Steps Average: 9595.3
5/18 to 5/24: 46 miles (79,757 total steps) Daily Steps Average: 11393.9
5/25 to 5/31: 41.7 miles (99,970 total steps) Daily Steps Average: 14281.4

Totals Lost since beginning of 2014:
Waist: 4.5”
Hips: 3.75”
Thighs: 4”
Weight: 17.7 pounds

That is super cool that your husband is in for the SWH! And not only the half, but rebel challenge? :woohoo: Ya know, I know I told you I wouldn't be doing the star wars race should it actually happen (at least I think it was you :scratchin) but when my dh saw the rundisney video on facebook... he was so excited. So he is going to be signing up for the rebel challenge. Our youngest ds may be doing the half. I am on the fence as to if I will even be going. It is after all the very next weekend after the donald. Not sure I want to leave the world and come home early. Dh has to come home early anyway cause he was going to not take the time off. For us... the fact it is at DLR makes it more accessible. Not a long flight...and flights are often lower in cost. Sounds like you will have lots of running partners. What fun!! I do realize that your husband and you don't partner well. My dh and I don't either. We always run races separate... but hope to run together at the ToT.

BTW, congrats on your race! Sounds like you felt much better at this one than your last.

I love your Husband's comments. That was pretty much how our conversation went at our house too, only for 2016. Fun!

I am totally with you in the running solo for a PR. You can push yourself a bit harder when you're felling it and lay off when you're not.

I was shocked at how quickly he agreed! He does read my mind well. It was me you told about not really doing the Star Wars race. Was your husband able to get registered yesterday or do you have to wait with the masses on the 10ths? I understand being on the fence especially with being in WDW the week before. I don't know how those people are doing the Dopey + all 3 Star Wars races as well, given the costs & vacation time but cheers to them.

Flights are going to be a killer from here - about $500 it seems but I'm going to keep looking and probably won't buy until September.

I'm glad we'll have running partners. My friend from online was able to get the half yesterday as she's an AP. Not sure if my sorority sister is going to be able to get in on the 10th but we'll see.

I love your Husband's comments. That was pretty much how our conversation went at our house too, only for 2016. Fun!

Thats great you had a similiar convo! I think this may be a one & done for us seeing as how much its going to end up costing us to fly to that coast. Maybe I'll be lucky & able to use my DVC but I doubt we'll get in.

I am totally with you in the running solo for a PR. You can push yourself a bit harder when you're felling it and lay off when you're not.

Exactly! If only my husband understood that for these shorter races.
