No trip for two years, and I need help....

We visited WDW back in February, and are planning on returning again in November of 2014, once the entire Fantasyland update is completed. We've been taking trips every other year, and usually I start getting the planning bug about a year out from our next trip.

Not this time. For some reason(probably related to the number of friends who just returned from Fall Break WDW trips), it is KILLING me this week that it's going to be another 25 months before we go again. I'm having a hard time staying off this board and other sites, and trying hard to resist making tentative plans for 2014.

For those of you who take similar breaks(or longer) between trips, how do you seriously bide the time? Is it good for me to check in on these boards, or will I drive myself crazy?

Well, we always say we are going to take a break from WDW trips, but we always seem to find a reason to get back sooner than we planned.

Guess I am not much help at all!

It's been a while since I've taken a really long break, but I like to stay on the boards and remain updated on Disney things.

Now, I'm also a member of a cruise forum, and I find myself taking long breaks on there between cruises. After reading the dress code debate and whether or not you can/should smuggle on alcohol threads a dozen times, it gets kind of boring. :rotfl:

We took a year & half off. It has been since December 2011 and we return June 2013. It has been a challenge.

But I have been planning, reading trip reports, making notes.

It has been ok! But there are days we are losing it.

After our 2013 trip we will not return until June/July of 2015. That is going to be difficult but our DS has marching band commitments we have to honor. 2015 will be his graduation trip.

I find that staying on the boards has helped me out a lot. :) It gives me a little bit of a "Disney fix". I especially love looking at everyone's trip reports and pictures!

I think if you check in from time to time it will help when you start planning seriously. Imagine taking a break for a year, how overwhelming it would be to go through all you've missed for a year!

I like reading trip reports to help pass the time!

Our last trip was June 2011. Next trip is (hopefully) Aug 2013. I am on these boards, way too often (if I would be objective about it), but I figure there are plenty of worse things I could be doing...Police blotter: "they search his computer and found he had been visiting the DIS boards dozens of times per month". Nope. No one getting in too much trouble for that one.

I justify it by saying that I need to do research to make sure the next trip is planned correctly to save money, time...But, I know reality is I just have to escape to WDW in my mind, if I can't actually get there in body.

I'm the opposite. On the off year, I don't come around. We had been going every even numbered year, so odd years I was demonllamaless.

A year out, I get back into the swing of things and then disappear again.

We just got back from Disneyland for the first time last week, but hadn't been to WDW since 2010, so it's been a very long while since I've been in the WDW side of DIS things. Hubby has a conference in April of next year, though, so instead of going into hibernation, here I am! ;)

I do the same thing. Since we just returned I'll probably stick around for another month and get it completely out of my system. Then I'll go into hibernation for a year or so until I start thinking about my next Disney vacation. I'm a bit travel obsessed though, so I generally bide the time by planning other trips ;)
