No TOT or RFTT in 2009? Robert?

I noticed that they have taken off the Tower of Terror and Race for the Taste races off the new Endurance magazines they were handing out at the Expo. If you go online, they don't list either of these races for 2009, either.

DH were planning on a different WDW race each year and wanted to do TOT next. I was trying to set aside some DVC points, but now I'm wondering what is going on??? Anyone know? Robert?

I gotta have some fun race on my horizon to keep my motivation up, ya know? Local races are fun, but not quite a Disney experience. :wizard:

Thanks!

Shan,

It may not have been in the magazine we both got, but there was a yellow covered brochure with all the Disney Endurance Races, and both races were in there.

I gave my copy of the brochure away to a friend of mine, who's picture from the 2008 5K was in the booklet. He was shocked when I showed him.

They are both listed on the marathon weekend booklet thing I got at the expo.

Shan the TOT13k is really fun. I didn't do it last year but I did it the year before. I have never done the Race for the Taste though (actually haven't done a 10k yet). It looks fun too.

A 10K and free Food and Wine festival food! What could be better!!! Trying to convince DH that we need to do this event.

OK, cause the one I picked up at the Expo had a picture of a woman wearing a Snow White outfit and the dates for both RFTT and TOT were 2008, all the other races listed were 2009 or 2010. The Disney Endurance website is the same way.

I'm also thinking it would be easier to take the kids with us sicne it is a night race. We could pull them out early Friday from school once they're counted for the day (I think around 11:00.) and put them in the kids' club at BC during the race on Saturday night. Maybe do a park Sunday and drive home Monday - they'll just miss one school day. I really hate pulling them out, but it is very hard getting it set up to have someone watch the kids when we go out of town. Plus, I have this guilt thing about being at WDW w/o them.

OK, so I need to figure out my DVC points. I seem to keep hitting Friday and Saturday nights - point eaters! Looks like I can go ahead and book now, too...

So definitely the 24th???

RFTT was fun - you get to run thru both the Studios and Epcot - going past the BC and into the back entrance of Epcot all the way around the countries. No characters out, though. You actually get more park running time than even the half.

ToT is 10/24 for sure. My Disney Contact confirmed before program. I am doing RFTT this year. ToT fun but...........

According to the Disneysports.com website, anything after the Disneyland Half Marathon you can not register yet. Keep an eye on the website for more details.

I want those MNSSHP dates, too!!! I think that may help me decide between RFTT and TOT. Although I probably should let the extra 3K be the deciding factor!

I did listen to the Dis Unplugged for this week and they interviewed the lady in charge of the endurance series and she did say that they were doing both the RFTT and TOT.

I am just not sure where we can stay for each of them? Do they have certain hotels? Isn't RFTT usually done by a travel agency? What difference does that make in the planning?

What is the cost difference on each?

And what about Free Dining...IF they do it in October, will we be able to take advantage of that, too??

I think I can answer a few of these questions. But please, don't quote me because I could be totally wrong. :p

I think the free dining ends before the RFTT & ToT events. Rather, I think it ended before in the past. This year can be different.

I was planning on going to the RFTT last year but had to back out. MNSSHP was going on during that time. I was excited that I could do the MNSSHP & the RFTT the same weekend. However, I didn't get to go but I am hoping to be able to go this year.

When can you register for the TOT?

I posted on my forum that the ToT 13K opened reg on 3/21 last year. I would expect it about that time again. Maybe earlier and around the Princess. I would expect the same with RFTT.

Disney usually doesn't announced opening reg dates unless it is the marathon weekend or an inaugural race.

Thanks very much, that is what I was looking for. I just didn't want to miss it.

It looks like MNSSHP was on Friday and Sunday last year, with TOT being on Saturday. I didn't realize it started at 10:00! Childcare at BC ends at 12:00! This might not work after all... :sad2:

Anyway, I was trying to figure out which dates to book DVC so we could take the kids to MNSSHP. I never pull them out of school, so I was trying to work it so they only missed one day. The guilt! :lmao:

The race didn't even fill until right before the race. The last stat I have posted was on 10/9(2 weeks before the race) it was only 80% Full. In 2007 it filled in 2 months. With price increase and not being Inaugural race anymore, I think they will continue to have problems filling the race. Locals aren't doing it as much and us tourists have "been there done that"

Shan: The party goes until 2:00 am. Need to stay that long to get your money's worth. In 2007, they sold CANS of beer for $7 after the race at the party :sad2:

DOOD and I registered for ToT a little over a week before the event and got in. I had fun, but couldn't stay up until 2. I liked doing a night event and it was fun, but am thinking of RffT if we can afford another trip. Heck, maybe I'm just following Robert around....;)

Don't make threats you won't follow up on! First rounds on you at F&W :drinking1
