No tick or treating at DTD :(

Good - I hate ticks, and the treating for them...

I went in 2008 and it was the most miserable experience of our entire vacation by about 100x. I would never, ever go back to attempt it again. It was so crowded, the lines to get candy were insane and you couldn't move through DTD at all. I can only imagine how much worse it has gotten in the past 2 years.
Not realizing just how crowded it would be we figured we could hit DTD on our last night for a little ToT for our DD and get the rest of our souvineers and shopping done. I don't think I was able to buy anything and there were things we had really been planning to get.

Wanted to mention that some resorts do T&T. We stayed at BLT last year and arrived on Oct. 31th. We had our granddaughters (5, 3,1). We wanted to do something that night and found out that the resort had it. We crossed MNSSHP off our list many years ago, so that was not an option. So the girls went around the resort and was surprised that many areas were handing out candy, from all of the stores to special locations set up just for T&T. They were thrilled that they had not missed T&T. Not sure if all resorts do it, but they were doing in at BLT/CR last year on 10/31. Not sure if non-resort guest could participate, since it would require parking here and I'm sure parking was restricted that night since it can be a problem of folks wanting to park here during the party nights at MK. The girls were going to hop the monorail and go to some of the monorail resorts, but everyone was pretty much pleased with the offerings at our home resort. They even gave them bags too.

Thats a good thing...Im sure it was very crowded and frusterating for the ppl who simply wanted to shop or go to dinner. I did MNSSHP last week and we got a ton of candy and we did not redo any candy stops .

We did it in 05 and it was a ton of fun, they had a few fun activities for kids, they were able to trick or treat through all the shops, it was really nice!

Then we did in 08, very crowded, too busy activities, and lines for trick or treating were ridiculous.

In 10, we didn't even bother, we did end up at DTD a little later on halloween night, and you could not even really walk around. We quickly left!

It just got out of control with way too many people, and I'm glad they are ending it. It was fun while it lasted, but DTD just cannot handle that kind of crowding.

Funny, we were there that night... while it was crowded from the trick or treaters, we didn't think it was too bad. We weren't trick or treating, just taking in an evening at DTD and doing some shopping, and we thought seeing the kids in costumes was neat (one had a little Ghostbusters outfit with an inflatable proton pack... I told his mother it was the coolest costume I'd ever seen).

I can understand if they decided to do away with it though... it could easily be that the trick or treating was causing a net loss compared to a normal evening's worth of shopping there.

I have mixed feelings about it..yes it was insanely busy, but it gave people who can't afford to go to MNSSHP a place to ToT..Now with it gone ,besides resorts there isn't anything really..I can't help but think that this will kick alot of tourists( with cars) into surrounding neighborhoods to ToT.
