No speical events NYE at Epcot?

I had read a while back epcot was the place to be for NYE, but I don't see any special fireworks shows or anything. Why should we go to epcot?

Yes, there ARE special events.

There are two IllumiNations fireworks shows.
One at 6:30pm, the other at 11:40pm, culminating with a massive finale at midnight.

There will be other special things happening, as the park will be FILLED to the brim with guests that evening.

Epcot closes at 1AM on NYE.

I am not kidding when I tell you to not bother with looking at the listings in MyDisneyExperience/and the "official" Disney website.

The inaccuracies and omissions are very serious.

We've done Epcot for NYE the past 2 years, it has been my kids (now 13 and 17) and I. This year I'm extra excited because my husband can finally join us. He works at DHS Sat. Sun and Mon. so he hasn't been able to go on NYE but this year since it's on a Tue. he can go. It's so much fun, of course, there are massive crowdsm but we get there around 5pm, sit on the grassy area between Test Track and the Fountain of Nations, we take a blanket and just chill, then we watch the first Illuminations and head over to the parties. We stay a little bit in China and Italy but we spend a lot of time in the party at American Adventure, with the live band and Dj. Then we just hang back for the NYE fireworks. We don't bother trying to grab a spot at the rail because you need at least 3hours to do that...after the massive fireworks we stay in World Showcase and make our way out slowly, traffic is to get out is crazy so might as well stay in the park until the last moments.
