Was anyone else surprised that there seems to be no slide at the new Poly tower pool? Get I missed that.

Unfortunately, the size of that pool is going to disappoint a lot of people. To me it seems like the size of an adult only/relaxation pool, but then they put in the splash pad. I have no idea how those two work together.

Basically the same thing happened at Disneyland Hotel when they added the Villas tower. Splash pad and small quiet pool. But riiiiight next door to the other pools with legendary monorail slides. At least the poly island tower is getting a full new restaurant. Not that I don’t love Palm Breeze.

No, it’s a small pool. Each resort has a main pool with a slide, there is already one at Poly.
Did the math wrong they are adding on a number of resorts though.

POLY is going to be the largest resort only behind SSR and AKV. SSR with long walks makes it so it doesn't get crowded and AK has two main pools.

To me it shows Disney is going in a different direction than my personal taste (Adult centric with lack of attention for kids).

Disney makes 100's of decisions daily. It's OK if a few out of the hundred are Adult centric. Cater to everyone.

Most of the direction is adult centric. Their goal is to capture the growing DINK vacation spend.

You act like this is a complete one off which it is not. Correct they can't cater to everyone which means long term I may find myself spending my money elsewhere I am okay with that.

To be clear this is not me yelling at Disney but simply calling out the changing direction of Disney.

But what you are failing to admit is that even though the pool doesn't have a slide, there is splash pad for the little ones right there.
Splash pad is not adult centric even though I have been known to run through one with my grandtinker from time to time.

Bummer! There is certainly a demand for it. Both BLT and Contemporary have a slide and you can use both. Is that the only side-by-side resort combo that has one?

AKL and AKV both have slides. AKV is a much better one. Just like BLT and the Contemporary. For the most part there is only one slide at a resort with SSR being the exception. It has 2 feature pools with slides.

Absolutely and obviously true. Everyone is going after that demo rn because that's where the growth is especially in the luxury sector.

It is just one more thing that is going to ruin the current poly resort. We have already seen it become overcrowded with people visiting trader sams, ohana, fireworks in the beach….The monorail station and bus stops are already crowded, and volcano pool insane. Captain cooks is small and crowded too. This is going to make everything worse. We just sold our poly contact. So sad as we absolutely loved it there when we bought. We are constantly booking at AKL so we are buying there. Need somewhere that isn’t the popular hang out to come back to after busy days in the park.

Grand Floridian is similarly-sized and has just one feature pool and one leisure pool.

Boardwalk is a little smaller, but with a much greater ratio of high-occupancy villas. Again, one feature pool and two leisure pools.

I could never really relate to the complaints about pools and slides. No matter what Disney resort we stay at, no matter the time of year, we always find pool chairs. Even when my kids were younger (~10 yrs ago), they'd go down the slide 3 or 4 times and then move on to something else.

The splash pad is obviously there for kids. When did the slide-to-guest ratio become the gold standard for rating resort pools?

We stayed at Beach Club and VGF two weeks after Easter in April. It was low crowds at the parks. The Beach Club pool was not crowded at all and was very pleasant—super easy to find a chair with multiple options all around. The pool with the slide at VGF was always very crowded during the day and we could never find more than 1 empty chair. Beach club’s pool requires wristbands and VGFs does not (I’m pretty sure we didn’t even need to scan our magic band to get in). I’m not sure if that is the norm, but I do wonder if Poly and VGF get some amount of pool hoppers because they are so close to magic kingdom and mass transportation.

Yeah I think the balance of water options at Poly is still pretty strong. It already had a top rated splash pad, now it has two. Guests with young children might want to avoid the hectic Volcano Pool in favor of the more chill Oasis and Wailulu pools. Only thing the tower still really needs is an adults only rooftop hot tub and bar! :teeth:

I will admit we will head to CCs for some Tonga Toast each trip. I think Poly is now a resort that I would have to stay at, try out before I would ever consider buying there because of it being a resort that has an "attraction" status.
