No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems: A Tremendously Tropical PTR

The first 10 days of March are suppose to compare to Jan-Feb, That is why we decided on early March when we changed our trip dates but like you the individual ride times as of now are not bad the longes was soar'n at 48 mins

I had to laugh about the escargot, sorry but that is one thing I do not think I will ever try, I just picture garden slugs. I have never tried sushi either and did plan on maybe trying it at F&W oh well maybe someday
DH and I were talking yesterday about calamari, now I only tasted it once when someone gave it to me and told me it was clams, it did not taste all that different just chewier, but I was reading a review of the calamari at Tony's(we are eating there) and DH like calamari and said it looked good in the pic, but the person noted they serve rings there and not suckers :scared1: Ok that did it now I have the mental picture in my head of the squid tenticles and sucker  nope can not do it.

I have never tasted deer, but I know what you mean, my one uncle use to hunt squirrels, and there was no way I was eating that either.

I hope you can remember to do the WS pics with the CMs. That is such a good idea.

You really do need to find a way not to over extend yourself, when I was younger I use to fall victim to saying yes all too often. My big problem was someone would approach me and say to me I need a favor and my response would always be sure thing, no problem what do you need before ever asking what. I did finally stop myself from uttering yes before knowing what the favor entailed.

Garden slugs... :rotfl: YUCK! That just put a whole new spin on escargot for me! :lmao:

I have gotten so much better about saying no to people. It used to be impossible for the words to come out of my mouth, but once I realized that there was no end to what people would ask of you, I decided I better make some changes. I still hate to say no, but I will do it. And I agree with you... a lot of times I will at least say "let me think about it" before I give an answer.

So sorry for the delay in an update everyone! I hope you all are still out there! It's been an adjustment getting back into the school routine, and things have been so busy lately. This will be a quick update too because I'm headed to my Mom's to work on some Disney sewing projects today! I'm so excited to be getting some of that done and I'll be sure to share some pictures of everything when we're finished!

For now lets' talk about day 3! The plan for this day is tentative because it is totally dependent on the weather, but I am really hoping for a warm sunny day so that we can go to....

Typhoon.jpg

I am just thrilled about this! :yay: We have never been to a Disney waterpark! The theme of this place is awesome and I feel certain that we will love it, especially my DD.

We each have already picked out what we think our favorites will be and they really match our personalities perfectly.

DH, the thrill seeker, is excited about Crush N' Gusher (a water coaster).

DD, the beach lover, is thrilled about the GIANT wave pool!

And me, the ride chicken, will be tickled pink with the lazy river. :rolleyes1

All of us are looking forward to snorkeling in Shark Reef as well.

I am hoping my new waterproof camera will be very useful on this day. I'm planning on doing Photopass on this trip as well and hope there will be some PP spots at Typhoon Lagoon.

We plan to spend the whole day here, 10:00-5:00, and then head back to CBR to change and get ready for dinner. We have a 7:00 reservation at...

capemaycafesign.jpg

I booked this for two reasons.... to be able to check out the Beach Club, which I have never seen in person, and most importantly to fill up on these...

cape-may-cafe-crab-legs-and-clams.jpg

CRAB LEGS!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo: DH and I are huge fans of crab legs and when I found out that they now have these on the buffet each night, it was a no brainer. I really hope we enjoy this meal. If any of you have eaten here before for dinner and can recommend something specific on the buffet, I'd love to hear it.

After dinner we plan to walk down to the Boardwalk (never been there either). I'd love to see it lit up at night and maybe catch some of the performers.

Well, that wraps up day 3! Only 4 more to go!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

In other news... DD lost another tooth a few days ago. I really think that was the last one, but I'm not sure about that. :sad1: Anyway, she left a piece of paper beside her bed for the Tooth Fairy to write her a note. I thought that was so cute. She even punched holes in the paper and strung mini Christmas lights through it! I have no idea what goes on in that child's mind sometimes.

Here she is the next morning after finding her loot.

Her note...

Precious moments those are.

Then she had picture day this week. I painted her toes and curled her hair and then looked at her and realized that my little girl isn't so little anymore. It was one of those moments as a mother that just feels like a punch in the gut. I know I can't stop her from growing up, but I sure wish I could slow it down. :guilty:

P1000192.jpg

Well that's all for now. I'm off to sew! Hopefully I'll come back with something that my DD won't be too embarrassed to wear!

I can't wait to hear what you think of Typhoon Lagoon AND Cape May! Both are on my wish list, but I haven't made it to either yet.

Don't you hate that feeling, when you look at your child and you don't see a little kid anymore? I remember so clearly the day that I got back Justin's school pictures when he was in the 4th grade and he just looked so grown up that I started crying - Don thought I had flipped my lid

The lazy river would be about my speed too. :thumbsup2

I love the note the tooth fairy wrote, very cute.

I can't wait to see pictures of your sewing projects!!

You know of all the MANY TRs I've read over the years, I have only seen one that included Typhoon Lagoon. I wonder why more people don't go there? I think it looks awesome! We have never been to a full fledged waterpark before, only Great Wolf Lodge, so I am really looking forward to it. And as long as Cape May doesn't mess up the crab legs, I'm sure we will enjoy it there!

I totally know what you mean about school pictures. That same thing happened to me this past spring. DD was in the 1st grade and came home with her pictures. She was sitting in a chair with her legs crossed just like an adult! I was like, 'who the heck is this kid?' It was a sad moment, and I am sure I will have more of those. I think we need a big Dis Moms group hug at the thought of all this... :grouphug:

The lazy river would be about my speed too. :thumbsup2

I'm all about a lazy river! I'm just not an adventurous person, no matter how hard I try!

The sewing went well. We didn't finish anything though. We are working on a fall outfit for our first MK day (since the park will be decorated so pretty), and a Minnie Mouse zebra print outfit for our AK day. I think it's going to be really cute! :cutie:

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I just have to say that life is good today!!!!!!!!!! I don't know about the rest of you out there all over the USA, but we are having our first fall day here and I am a VERY happy girl. The air is cool and crisp and it makes me so energized after this brutally hot & humid summer!!! :hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper: And it's a wonderful reminder that October is right around the corner! :woohoo:

Looks like another amazing day! :goodvibes Can't wait to hear all about Typhoon Lagoon. We've never been to the water-parks.

You are going to love Cape May and spending some time on the Boardwalk that evening. We didn't get over there this trip and we really missed it.

I know how you feel about your DD growing up too fast. I often say to myself -- how do I have a middle school-er??? I wish they could stay little longer!!

Rinky - We are having a touch of Fall today here in CT. Woke up to temps of mid-40's when I took the dog out this am and we should reach highs of mid 60's today :goodvibes

You are going to love Typhoon Lagoon. We use to go every trip once they built it years ago, I loved the lazy river. I have to warn you the wave pool made me nervous since I do not swim so my DS the youngest and daredevil of the family use to go in it alone. They had lots of lifeguards all along the edges but I still would get nervous when the big wave came and for a few seconds I would lose site of my DS :scared1:. Of course you will go in with your DD I guess so maybe it will not be scarey.
I wanted my DS to do the shark pool but he wouldn't:sad2: I bet you get some awesome pictures.
Great place to spend a day and I bet it will be on your agenda from now on with each trip.

I so want to try Cape May for dinner, only ever gone there for Breakfast. Can not wait to read your thoughts on it.

You have a very nice day and evening planned!

I hope we like the waterpark. We have never been to one before except for the indoor version at Great Wolf Lodge. I just hope the weather cooperates.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the Boardwalk. I hope we catch some good performers like you did.

Watching your babies grow up is so much harder than I expected it to be. It's just happening too darn fast!

Isn't this taste of fall wonderful! I'm LOVING it!

Thanks for the heads up on the wave pool. We got in the wave pool at Great Wolf Lodge last fall and it was the same way (only MUCH smaller). It is pretty scary with little ones. I found that if I could get past the breaking point of the waves, it was really nice. Towards the back you just sort of bob and float. I wonder how they don't have more injuries though up where the waves break. Even as an adult, I had a hard time standing up and the concrete bottom is brutal if you fall down!

I hope DD doesn't chicken out on the Shark Reef. She's already hemming and hawing about it.

I hope we enjoy TL as much as you. I never hear anything about it on people's TRs so I don't know much about it.

You know what - it just gets better and better as they grow! Every age has its special 'features'. During the teenage years, there are a few rocky days, but they are so microscopic in the whole scheme of things. We're watching Brooklynn grow into such a sweet 'big girl' now, having left the toddler and pre-school years behind with some wonderful memories for all of us. Her thought processes are really developing now, and she's sounding out words.

Your girl is going to be so much fun through all of her years ahead,
and then
one day
you will find yourself in the passenger seat with her driving you instead of the other way around.
There will be the sound of sweet little voices singing Sunday school songs in the back seat,
and you will smile a very big smile.
There's a reason I know this. ;) :lovestruc

I have not been into the water parks, but Trent and Drew have. They like them both, but they said if they could only do one, it would be Typhoon Lagoon. Any water park with a lazy river works for me. :thumbsup2 The trouble is, I would fall asleep in the tube and my snoring would cause a tsunami! :scared1:

Awwww, MeMom, you just made me tear up!

We are Cape May lovers and have been known to eat there more than once per trip!

It's so convenient when we are staying at the Beach Club.
I love the crab legs and the calamari. If it isn't one of the calamari nights they have fried shrimp, it's really good too, not your typical breading, really light. They have a very good salad offering. Marc enjoys the ribs, fried potatoes, boiled shrimp, and don't forget the signature Oreo bonbons!!!

I sure hope you are right. I want to be there for everything for her and her kids when she has them just like you are with Jill. I guess I just feel like my time is short because she might move away from here when she gets married like so many people do now. I never thought about moving away from home, but most young people nowadays can't seem to stay put. And we don't live in a very good economic area either. We are in a very rural area and there are no fantastic jobs here, just your average stuff like teachers, office stuff, law enforcement, etc. so a lot of young college grads move away to Raleigh or out of state. It would just kill me if she left like that. You can relate since Trent did that for a while. I know I sound crazy thinking about stuff like that when she is only 7, but I know it will be here in the blink of an eye, and I just can't imagine life without her around everyday. I guess that's why I wish these childhood days could last longer.

Snoring tsunami... :rotfl: I might cause one of those myself. Oh wait... I do not snore (no matter what my family says). :rolleyes1

Awwww, MeMom, you just made me tear up!

 We need to get off this topic of our babies growing up... it is too depressing. :sad2:

Yay! I knew someone would have some suggestions for me! And ALL of that sounds yummy. I think it may become one of our new favorites too! So far the only restaurant that is on our repeat list is Ohana, so it would be nice to have another one to add on.

Oreo bonbons???? How have I never heard of these? WHERE have I been? :confused3 I mean, according to my MIL, I am THE expert on bonbons so how on earth did I not know about this! Well, I can guarantee you that I will rectify this situation once we get to Cape May.... I do have a reputation to uphold. In fact, I might eat some of those first... and I think I will text a picture of me eating them to said MIL just to reassure her that she has indeed been right about me all these years! :rolleyes2 Hmmm, I think the caption should say, "See.... you thought I only ate these on weekdays while watching the soaps, but you way underestimated me, 'cause I eat them all day long on vacation too!" :rolleyes1

You didn't detect any bitterness, did you? :upsidedow

:lmao: Yes, get an Oreo bonbon first just so you don't fill up on the other yumminess! They are sooooo good!!!!

I wonder if you could find the recipe so you could enjoy them while you are watching your soaps?

Hi Rinky,
Taking a break and uncovering my head from all my schoolwork to pop in and say hello!

We have been to Typhoon Lagoon and loved  it! It's a fantastic water park. The wave pool is what I would caution you about. It's nothing like Great Wolf Lodge's, or any other wave pool that I have been in. It truly is like the ocean. I saw so many kids come out hurt because they weren't prepared for the strength. My kids were fine-I guess because I had read about this and was prepared, and plus we are at the ocean every year. Anyways, just keep it in mind and you will have a blast!

More Cape May lovers here! We love the breakfast and the dinner. I want to go in October but don't think I can squeeze it in...gonna have to wait until June.

Bonbons, all day, yes, yes...I may have been familiar with that at one time too. If only, right?

Yes, if I like them, I'll ask for the recipe. I've gotten several Disney recipes just because I asked on our previous trips. My favorite is the Ohana Honey Lime Salad Dressing! YUM!!

I know it would so disappoint my MIL to hear this, but I HATE soaps!

You guys have me worried about this wave pool. I thought the one at GWL was too strong, so the one at TL may be more than I can handle. To me it is just too forceful where the waves break. I wonder why they have it set so rough. Surely they could tone it down a bit. :confused3 I'm glad to hear that you enjoy the park though. I've heard very little about it in all the TRs I've read.

Well it sounds like Cape May is a good choice. Everyone here seems to like it. I hope we do too, bonbons and all. And for the record, I NEVER watch soaps and the last time I ate bonbons was on our last Disney trip! MILs are a special breed of humans for sure.

So glad to have you back around. I hope things settle down for you as you get used to the new school year.

Rinky - Good Morning.

I do hope you don't avoid the wave pool but give it a try. Like I said being I am not a swimmer made it had for me to let my youngest DS go in it alone even though he was always a strong swimmer having learned at the local Y for a scout badge plus we had a inground pool. He first went in it at I want to say age 10 or 11 and was fine but I did put my prayers in the hands of the life guards should anything have happened, which is hard to do. My DS did love the wave pool.
My older son who was 20 -21 the first time we went to TL, is not a strong swimmer and heavy did not like it at all and only did it once and was out of there. Even if I swam I doubt I would have gone in since I am not very adventurous when it comes to anything a lil bit rough  ok truth be known I am one big chicken :lmao:

All this talk about Cape May so has me wishing I could fit it in my schedule, Ya know maybe there is a way, I have a rather early F! dinner pkg booked 3:55pm(I plan on skipping lunch and just do a snack instead), perhaps we could do an after F! late dinner ...I know DH will be hungry, he is always hungry

Now how in the world did I miss this!!! Forgive me girl!! Now I am gonna catch up! :goodvibes

Listen to MeMom - she knows of what she speaks!
Since all you do is sit around and eat bon-bons, just follow your DD to wherever she moves. ;) bitterness? No, didn't sense that at ALL!

I'd like the lazy river too! That's my favorite thing about water parks. My kids like smaller slides and wave pools (jumping the waves - if it doesn't knock them over!). I hope you get a nice warm day for it!

Cape May - We have only had breakfast- but it was SOOO good!

Oh we will try out the wave pool for sure, I'm just a little nervous about it. I'll be sure to hang onto DD until I see how it is.

I think that sounds like a great time to try out Cape May! I am really excited about it after the comments that everyone had made. I think it's definitely worth a try. Let us know if you decide to book it!

Now how in the world did I miss this!!! Forgive me girl!! Now I am gonna catch up! :goodvibes

Well hello and WELCOME!! So glad to have you joining in! I know you have been busy with that new little one of yours, but I'm glad you found time to come over here!

I love the lazy river too. We've never been to one as big as the one at TL, but we have been in several at hotels in Myrtle Beach. I love them. The only thing that annoys me is when people let their kids act wild in it. When kids are roughhousing and constantly jumping in and out, it's not very 'lazy' and you can forget about relaxing. Hopefully the lifeguards at TL will maintain order better than that.

It sounds like everyone is a fan of Cape May! This sounds promising! I may have another favorite to add to my list. :woohoo:

Rinky! Hello my friend! I have been MIA from the Dis for awhile and have missed much of your report. So, did your DH get the job you were hoping for? Have you settled on your dates? I need to go back to read right now but I did see your last update. Look how beautiful and big your baby girl is!!! :)
