No rooms at AS Movies

I have tried several times to get rooms at AS Movies and have never been successful. We always seem to be given Sports instead. We have stayed at the All Stars about 10 times and all but one of those times was at Sports. Is there some trick to getting Movies? This latest time I have two rooms at Sports 5/30-6/5 but I first asked for Movies and then Music. Is it because I need two rooms or maybe because I am getting an AP rate?

It's not the AP rate. I'm doing that and I've got movies for two and a half weeks in July. I think it's mainly calling far enough in advance. These are really popular resorts, and movies is the most popular of the three. I usually call around 5-6 months in advance, and I don't remember having any problems when calling that far out. When I've called a month in advance, they never have what I want.

Keep trying! There may be no availability today but that doesn't mean something will not open up tomorrow, the next day or next week. Last two times we were persistent until we were fully booked at Movies.

I'm staying at the Movies in July 02. We booked in Aug 2001.

Keep trying and you may be able to get into the Movies. For our trip last September they told us that they could get us into the Sports only, which I did not want. I went ahead and made a reservation for Sports. Every week I called back to see if they had any rooms at the Movies. It only took a few weeks. Good luck!

Yes, it could be because of the AP rate, or any other discount. Ask if there are any rooms available but don't mention any discounts.

They only allot so many rooms for discounts.

I think its just luck because one time I was trying to book sports but they had no rooms and CRO suggested I go to Movies so I did.

Like it's been said already, it can be good luck, early booking or persistence. My theory is that the best time to call CRO is first thing in the AM - from what I was told, if a deposit is not received by the due date for a room, the room gets cancelled by the system overnight and becomes available in the AM. We did get Movies but we did book about 5-6 months in advance.

Allstar Movies for us, 9 days in July-Aug, 2 days at dolphin. Made reservation for Movies almost two years ago??? 92 days left getting ready for the big drive from SW MO...... CBR99 Allstar Movies Feb2001 AllStar Music Aug2001......

We got our May/June reservations at Movies in Feb, and then two weeks later my brother from Tampa called to get reservations there the same time and they said they were full and recommended Music or Sports. I think the movies is just more popular and books up faster.

I always had trouble booking ANY All-Stars - I have never stayed there yet, and I been to WDW 8 times in the last few years. Back in Oct 2000, I tried to book any of the All-Stars for a three night stay in upcoming off-season January. The Disney website had availability for all the All-Stars, but when I called CRO, I was told that nothing was available on WDW property but a King bed at CBR. I politely argued, but the CM was firm there was nothing but one lone king bed at CBR available anywhere on property. Geesh! Should of kept calling or been brave enough to try the website but I gave up quickly and got a room somewhere else.

As well, back in 2000, I tried to book one night at any All-Star on the Thursday before before Memorial Day weekend. Even though there was availability and I called months in advance, I was denied a reservation since there was a three night minimum stay requirement that week.

YingYang - at least you stayed at the All-Stars! I gave up trying to stay there .... only moderates and deluxes now for me!

I usually book in the summer for our January stay. And then call back when the discounts are out and snatch one.
We stayed at ASMo last January and I had no problems at all. And that was even starting the stay over the marathon weekend, which has a tendency to book many rooms up.

In 2003, it will be the marathon's 10th anniversary. And the expo will be at CSR, instead of the World of Sports. My guess is CSR will be the hot marathon resort.
And the marathon is a week later than usual. It use to be the first Sunday in the year.
