No room for Warriors slacking in November

Hi all

Sarah - Sounds like things are going well. How did the girls do on their practice 5K? I would think running your short days and doing a walk/run on your long days would be fine. Just plan on doing a walk/run for the half as well.

Kate - Hope you can find out what wrong.

Kathy - Glad to hear the cold is almost gone. I think I may be coming down with something. Good luck at the space coast half.

AFM. This week was almost a repeat of last week workout wise.
Monday shifted another .01 mile from walking to running. Walk .22/run .28 for 4 miles.

Wednesday, decided to try walk 1:00/Run 1:00. Felt alot better than the :30/:30 last week. I also used it as a "speed day". And had a new Personal Best for 5K of 39:10. My first time under 40 minutes. I ended up slowing down at the end of my run though. I'll need to watch the pace early on for the 4 miler this Thursday.

Friday. Did 6.5 miles They started off OK. but my legs started feeling heavy by the end although I did picking up the pace a little even though I was planning on it being an easy day. I might have considered cutting it short but my mom wanted to go out for a ride, so dad drove me to the next town with mom riding along and I ran back along the trail so I was doing a one way trip.

Friday evening and yesterday, I felt tired all day. I don't feel sick just out of it. I was able to make it to church this morning but was a little tired by the end. I'm getting ready to relax before a community Thanksgiving service the church is hosting, and the choir is singing at.

This Thursday I have my First 4 miler. They forecast is calling for a chance of rain. Hopefully they have at least the time wrong and it will start after lunch or over night.

One more thing to add. Yesterday morning, I weighted in at 289lbs. I'm down out of the 290. And over 35lbs lost this year. Most of it has come since I started adding running into my routine in May.

Kathy thrilled that your cold's clearing up and that you have such a great attitude ready for race day. You've done it before so can do it again. If it rains- you'll get wet :rotfl:! No I'm sure you have a good jacket to keep you dryish. Good luck for your last week of training

Jeremy ergh, kathy's been passing germs around. Feeling under the weather is not nice so take care. Lots of sleep and lots of relaxation time. Sometimes you just wish it would come on properly so it would go away! Massive congrats for your weightloss!

me managing 30 mins still on treadmill and focusing on increasing strength in my legs- I actually struggling to life 10kg on leg curl and hamstring curl a few weeks ago. I wrongly imagined running would increase strength too, clearly not! Had a lovely moment of realisation about how lucky I am- stood at the top of our stairs in our new house and remembering my engagement. Weird, emotional, but a lovely reflection. Must make a note to do that more!

Have a great week warriors

Kate: :goodvibes When is the wedding, again? Glad to hear everything is going well for you... as long as the shins cooperate.

Jeremy: Well done on the weight loss! Hope you're feeling soon!

Kathy: Good luck with Spacecoast - hope you've shed the cold by then!

As for me? 8 miles in 1:40, today. I really should upload my elevation profile from my Garmin so you guys can see my own personal "Hill of Doom". Imagine 1 mile of steep switchbacks straight up from a river valley. It kills me every weekend, but I am definitely getting faster! It was also 32 degrees when I started; Seattle only gets that cold once or twice a year, so it was quite a shock! At least it wasn't raining!

The Girls on the Run practice 5K went really well - all the girls finished, which is always fantastic. The girl I was running with kept trying to "trick" me by bursting into a sprint and taking off, so it was 3 miles of walking for two minutes, then sprinting as fast as I can for 1 minute. :rotfl: That's a way to get some speed interval training! The girl who won the 5K for all of Seattle (I coached her, so I was pretty proud :lmao:) last year lapped us twice on the 6 lap course. :scared1: :yay: The "real" 5K is on the first weekend of December and it's always a fun event.

Hope everyone's training is going well!

Kathy - Have a great time down in Cocoa this weekend!! The Space Coast is a "bucket list" race for me. Maybe 2011!!

AFM - The "real world" reared its ugly head last week and grabbed me really badly & as a result my training has basically fallen apart. I was able to run 2 x last week, so I am planning to do 2 LR's in the next 5 days juuuuuust to see what happens. Probably tomorrow night & Fri/Sat morning.

Jeremy - GREAT work on the weight loss!! Keep up the awesome work!!!

OK, where did this month go???? 3 weekends in a row out o ftown with one more this weekend may be it. :guilty: Training's going ok.

Happy Turkey Day Warriors!

Kate - You have our permission ot pig out Thursday too!

Happy Thanksgiving Warriors!

I'm dressed and heading out to the local Turkey Trot- 5K I hope the rain stays light or non-existant I don't want to run in another pouring rain!

I hope you all have a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving and the road treats you well!

Happy Thanksgiving back at you and to all Warriors and everybody else.

Hope the rain holds off and you have a good TT-5K.

DW and I got out at 5:00 and did our 5K. I made our post walk breakfast and she is napping right now, he-he. Next up for us is the Space Coast 1/2Marathon on Sunday. Seems like the weather should be great:thumbsup2.

Can't believe that WDW Marathon Weekend is just around the corner.

Got to go wash DW's car and wax it right now and then start the Turkey.

Stay safe everybody!

Howdy fellow warriors,

I hope you all had a great Thanksgving day. Well, the cold weather finally arrived here in central Il. My 8 milier this morning was done in 20 degree weather with a wind chill of 7 degrees. Kinda reminded me of WDW marathon weekend this year :)

2011 marathon weekend is just around the corner. Hope everyone's training is going well, and you are staying injury free. Have a fantastic weekend!!

Stan

Fearless Friday Warriors!!!!

Its been a nice, warm few days. Highs in middle 80's. A "cold front" is moving through right now which is supposed to "cool" the highs to the mid 70's. Brrrrrr.!:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

AFM - 10 miles on Wednesday, which the last 4"ish" were very uncomfortable with left hip/leg pain.

Today - 11 miles at a :15 sec/mile quicker pace and a lot more comfort. I was going to do some more, Buuuuuuuut, while on the way"out" I hid a bottle of powerade in a bush next to what I thought was a very distinctive tree.

On my way "in"..........................I lost the tree. So I decided not to push dehydration and just packed it in. Felt pretty good though, so I am encouraged.

Goofy time draws near.................................. YIKES!!!

JimB, Good going on the training, I guess you'll just have to make a map for hidden drinks.

DW and I are at hotel in Cocoa Beach with the Atlantic breaking outside our room. Weather forcast showed a possible mid 50's for Sunday AM when the Space Coast Marathon goes off. Way too cold for me so arm and leg warmers might be required gear for this guy. DW says she will be fine.

Goofy is getting closer so after Sunday I will shift into full out Goofy training. Might get out Monday at 3:00AM for a quick 8 miles.:laughing:

Hi Everyone

John good luck in the Space coast. 50 is great running weather.

Jim- If you have a Garmin, maybe you should set a waypoint where your water is hidden. I haven't tried using waypoint but it might work.

Stan- Our weather turned cold today as well. We've been alternating been warm and cool weather.

Pam - Hope your Turkey Trot went well.

Sarah - There were some kids in my 4 miler yesterday that seemed to do the same thing. Run as fast as they could until they got tired then walked a few minutes.

AFM - I did my normal Monday Workout of extended period of walking and running. On Wednesday I only did 3 miles and 1 of them was walking getting ready for the 4 miler on Thursday.

On thursday was my "turkey Trot"

I had decided to do a 1:15/1:20 run/walk ratio. The First mile was a gradual but stead uphill. Went out a little bit faster than I was planning on. I possibly should have tried for more of a negative split. The middle 2 miles were small rolling hills through a metro park. There weren't any big hills but they were noticeable. The Final .75 miles were downhill along the same road as mile 1. My Split times were.

Mile 1 12:58
Mile 2 13:07
Mile 3 13:00
Mile 4 12:25

Official time 51:30. An automatic PR.

My Brother-in-Law did his first race as well. He finished the 4 miles in 48:27. He's most of the way through the C25k.

Hey all!
I got way behind in my training due to one work trip (to San Fran) and one fun trip (I went to the World Premiere of Harry Potter in London!!!). I think I'm back on track for the 1/2 marathon. Definitely need to stay focused at this point in time!

Amanda

Turkey trot went well- close to my best time so I'm happy. Now to get back to a regular routine! (although I'm not sure anything will be normal until we return from the Panama Canal cruise now with Holidays and all coming!)

Hello Warriors

Space Coast 1/2 Marathon has been entered into DW's-Kathy aka Embroidery Grandma and my log book. PR's were had by both since this was our first official 1/2M. Weather was cold for me but ideal for almost every other person there.:lmao: 56 degrees

We went out strong and were doing well until.....ITB hit Kathy. Things got a little better for her but we had a downhill a few miles from the end and wham the ITB hit Kathy big time. Had to hold on to her for a good distance but we made it.

Back at room right now resting, icing, compressing and elevating.

P.S. Don't we just hate it when cruises get in the way of training.:rotfl2:

Sarah wedding's not until 13th August 2011, but we're pretty ready for it! I love the way your kiddies test you :)

John I cannot think of a worse reason to miss training.... NOT! So sorry Kathy's ITB didn't hold on, but what a wonderful gentlemanly husband you are. Extra pixie dust for you

Pam glad your turket trot went well! More cruisey fun for you too.

Amanda how were your two trips? Was the premiere impressive and how on earth did you arrange that? We are pretty much gripped in a cold weather surge right now so good work missing it. Temps have been -14oC and had 18inches of snow in some parts! Not me tho, boo.

Stan great to see you and even better to read that you're cracking on with training and runs :) brilliant.

me still in the gym but with 16weeks til marathon I need to get my bottom out into the ice and RUN! Did 4 miles on TM yesterday with no tape so that was nice. Trying hard to strengthen my bottom as apparently that's the route cause of all of my shin and IT probs!!!! Officially launched my fundraising this week so trying to plot activities to raise the £1500 that Asthma Uk have set me :surfweb:

Kate - My trip to London was awesome! The premiere was so cool and I even got to walk the red carpet. My brother is a big executive at amazon.uk so he got tickets. The weather was pretty cold and rainy while I was there (much like what we have in NY right now  ).

Amanda

My knee was not an ITB but tendonitis.:sad1: I have some exercise to work on and hopefully I will be ready in a month.

John and I did an official time of 3:44:39.:cool1: I feel real good about it since I injured my knee about 1/2 way thru. The last 3 miles is when I really struggled. Rolling small hills and cambers I guess are not for me right now.

Kathy beat me by 1 second. My official time was 3:44:40.

Next time I will not try to diagnose an injury but it sure seemed like she had a ITB problem.

I was able to finish out the month with a good walk today. Wound up with 6.45 miles, 1:07:10time @ 10:24/mile.

Good luck to all in the up coming month.

Congrats to John, Kathy and Tracy for Space Coast! SOmeday I'd love to get there!
