Hi everyone -
We're trying to get a room at the Swan (teacher rate)for the end of February, but they're full. Same story at YC. Must be full of conventioneers? Is it a good idea to keep trying?
We can stay WL instead, but I really, really wanted an Epcot resort... We've stayed at BW but didn't really like the atmosphere - prefer quieter resorts.
Thanks for any hints, suggestions, answers...

Sorry you didn't get what you wanted but why don't you book WL and then keep trying for the others. People book multiple rooms all the time and then cancel when their plans become final. You might just get lucky. Also, with the Swan you could try various online sites and Starwood itself to see if a room opens up. Good luck and have a great trip :D .

Try Try Try Again!

If it were me, I would book WL NOW, before there is no more availability there. Then I would continue to call CRO and try for the YC or Swan. People cancel all the time, and when one operator tells you there is no availability, 2 minutes later there could be. This happened to us last summer, and I tried calling back twice a day, once first thing in the morning, and last thing before I went to bed. Finally after only a week, my resort became available! I think I read here somewhere that the reservation system clears out cancellations nightly, so that was why I tried late at night and first thing in the am.

Good Luck!

Great advice!

The early birds DOES get the worm!

so that was why I tried late at night and first thing in the am.

That's how we get those great AP rates, too!

but, I always have a "back-up" ressie!
Just in case!;)

Lady Hiss, When are you going at the end of February? Dreams Unlimited shows that teacher rates are available at the Swan for 02/19/2004 -02/22/2004 and 02/27/2004 - 02/28/2004 at $149.00 plus $17.14 in taxes w/ a teacher discount.

The Dolphin is available the same dates for $139.00 plus $15.99 in taxes w/a teacher discount.

Perhaps a couple of those dates will fit your needs. You could always split your stay between resorts.

If the YC is full, how about the BC?
If you didn't like the BW, have you considered the BWV? Our stay at the BWV was one of the absolute quietest stays we've ever had at WDW. We hardly ever even passed anyone in the hallways there.

If all that fails...I enjoyed our stay at the WL, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. ;)

These boards are absolutely amazing. Thanks everyone, for your helpful replies!

I'll be taking your suggestions for making the ressies with WL and will keep trying The Swan. There was no availability there for 2 days of our 4 day stay, but I'll keep trying (don't want the hassle of packing things up to move between resorts during such a short trip).

As it turns out, there IS availability at YC, but the rate was way, way too high.

Thanks again all!

We have ressies at the Dolphin 2/27 - 3/6 with AAA rate that we are probably going to cancel. We got a postcard the other day and now have ressies at POR also. When I called the Dolphin to see if I have the best rate or was there something better the CM told me the Dolphin was sold out for all my dates. So not only is there no better rate, I'm doubting I'd be able to get an upgrade when I got to the Dolphin, which I know was no guarantee from the beginning.

So I think for the $600 I'll be saving, we're headed to POR. If my dates can help you at all, let me know and when we decide I'll let you know when I'm going to call and cancel.

If there is a convention, many conventions block book rooms and then release them shortly before the convention (maybe 48 hours?). I would definitely keep calling to see if there are any cancellations.

Also, I find that it helps to make calls in the morning. The WDW computer seems to cycle through their cancellations and no deposits made at midnight.
