They might not have anything better to do, but I don't think that's the point. These people said these things -- period. I have a hard time believing Disney didn't know it. They likely dismissed it. Now there's renewed scrutiny so they're changing their tune. This is part of my issue with all of these old tweets from several people coming to light. Its always said that employers and what not search individuals social media. Well with this all happening is that really true or do they just not look that far back? Also who is digging up all these tweets? Do people have nothing better to do with their lives?
I have little sympathy for this fickle, hypocritical industry -- any fallout from at any point accepting what should be intolerable is deserved IMO.
There's no statute of limitations on a PR problem -- that's the calculation here -- nothing more: will enough people care to hurt our brand? RIGHT NOW the answer is yes. Yesterday it was no and tomorrow, who knows?
My general issue is that people are owed due process with accusations. This isn't that type of situation -- he admits to the tweets -- about PEDOPHILIA. Why should Disney take a chance with its brand?
