No Poland booth at Food & Wine??

I agree with both sides here. With places like the west village in my backyard, I don't need to go to WDW to find great food. I have access to it daily. When i go during F&WF I don't cancel my ADRs. I use the booths as glorified fast food. Also, my husband is a total beer snob. While the additional beer selection during F&WF doesn't knock his socks off by any means, he appreciates having a much larger selection, and not in a restaurant or bar where we have to sit down & stay a while- especially with a 1 & 2 year old in toe. The booths are good, not mind blowing, but like others stated, they're better than burgers & fries. Plus, we only do F&WF at the start of the day & never usually past 1pm so we haven't experienced how bad I imagine food could get considering all the factors going against them. Party for the Senses, however, is a different story. I've had some great food that I watch chefs cook for me as I stood there waiting. Not to mention it's a fun atmosphere for my husband & I to get away & have a little fun without the kids.

I do feel all these Epcot festivals are just a bandaid for a much bigger problem which appears they're finally starting to try to address.

Lol...I'm a sox fan...they are embroiled in price/eckersley gate right now...

So that being said...you know who I DON'T like at all...john and Susan and that stupidity...

As for Yankee broadcasting-it's the worst!! I'm a Met fan but my husband is a Yankee fan so I'm nauseated by them near daily. :scared: I don't understand how the Yankees can be "the NY team" and yet get away with such a laughable broadcast team, crummy stadium, and the pizza of the NY Yankees being Papa John's (the only pizza you can get in the stadium by the way!!!). Yeah, they can keep their history...'cause the rest of what they are offering to their fans is laughable and downright painful. Imagine listening to Susan while eating Papa John's?? Qualifies as torture.

I will never forget watching the Sox game where the disgruntled fan threw the slice of pizza. Their commentary with that still makes me cry laughing. As for the whole price/eckersley- what a mess! Luckily, we're not in the thick of off field shenanigans. We've had our fair share though & I think it'd be wise for broadcasters to shy away from any of it. Mention it once and then move on.

Oh, I don't complain (well I do: the crowds annoy, and the booths are ugly, but that aside). If it was an upcharge, I'd really give the stink-eye to that. I can't really cheer it though.

The problem though is that this isn't just a nice extra Disney does because it loves us all, it's a weak attempt to goose a park that is otherwise in bad shape. I'd much rather see an increase in focus on more cool shops. It's still possible to find things in the Epcot stores you wont easily find elsewhere. If FW and FG were just a few weeks to a month each, that'd be better IMV.

Not a shopper, but more shops is fine by me. But there s never to many food offerings. I just wish they would add about 10 of these to DHS-yuck there.

Heck I'm looking forward to DRR dining-esp a few minute gondola.

How does that make you feel when you use your fingers to count? Do you blame your mother/father?

I blame myself actually. I enjoy the festival because I am a big person for atmosphere. I like going around the world showcase seeing the sights and smells and everyone in line waiting for a $6.00 taco while I walk onto Test Track. There's also some booze offerings that are unique. Granted, there aren't many, but there are some and my husband enjoys that. I have also found a thing or two that I enjoy when I am there that isn't normally offered and something I don't think I can get locally.

Now, here's the answer to your question: Would I have gone as much if I were not a FL resident and a passholder? No.

And I really think the LOCALS fuel this festival. I know far too many people who go for lunch or dinner at Epcot during the festival.

That scenario is outlawed by The Hague...I'm pretty sure

All kidding aside. Locals and New Jersey have killed it.

That and the Halloween lemmings.

It's just too much. From a dvc perspective...I know who the enemies are...

I couldn't disagree more. I think the lagoon in beautiful when the booths aren't cluttering up the views.

There are already plenty of buildings that clutter up the view. It is not ever unobstructed.

Sure. I object to the lake-front restaurants greatly. Are you really saying "well there's a few bad spots already, so why would you care if they totally trash it?"

I don't disagree with this. I went to the "Art" Festival. It was like the food and wine festival, but the food took 20 minutes (slight exaggeration) longer to prepare because a: it wasn't mass produced and b: it was like art nouveau-ish. I liked the art festival because it reminded me of how the F&W used to be!! That's why I liked it and it took me the whole day to figure that out. I kept saying to my husband, "I really like this festival, I wonder why" and then BAM! it hit me in the parking lot like a piece falling off the monorail.

Love that festival as well. :thumbsup2

I like the arts thing too...and flower and garden with food is a much better experience than food and wine for the last 10 years....

And I'm glad you had the revelation...and I'm glad that piece of the dilapidated monorail didn't scratch your car...

I'd totally rock F&G if it wasn't just F&W-lite and "oh look, Disney made Spring happen in Orlando." With an actual focus on horticulture, and plants from around the world then I'd likely be there every year. As-is, the best I can say about it is, it beats the dead trees of the mid-west.

I don't think the booths trash it. I don't think they do much to obstruct the view either. Many of them are not even lagoon side. But your first post made it sound as if the booths blocked what was an unobstructed view of the lagoon. There never is such a thing as an unobstructed view of the lagoon. And even with the booths, there are plenty of places to see the lagoon. There has to be so people can view the globe during Illuminations.

Ok now ask yourselves WHY you liked those festivals. I think we'll all agree. It's how things used to be at F&W, imo that makes us all like them.

I hope they bring that art festival back. It was February, I was cold so that was awesome cause I hate sweating, It was low crowds, the offerings were REALLY weird, but I was happy to see them. I tried a few and liked them. I tried a few more and hated them, but I was still glad they were there to try. I couldn't get ANY of it back here. And there were UNIQUE offerings in terms of art. Some of it crazy over priced, but all of it unique.

I even bought a signed piece of art.

Problem is with plants around the world is that you can introduce an invasive species into the ecosystem. Florida already has a fragile ecosystem due to invasive species that I don't think it's a smart risk. They have moved a lot more toward education and horticulture other than just making things look really pretty. There are a lot of exhibits.

Oh no doubt...

And this is a much bigger argument about shifting travel patterns, attendance increases, and how Disney's successful strategy has kinda got them flat footed now and going forward.

The disney diehards...don't like crowds...and never really did. We like the run of the place.
