Hubby and I have about 50,000 airmiles for virgin between us - mainly due to last years 20 hour delay!

They will expire soon and with Virgin prices so expensive and reward seats difficult to get we will be converting them to Virgin Vouchers - £200 worth - meaning our 4 adult tickets for US/IOA is now going to cost us just £160.

12,500 miles = £50 'The Virgin Voucher'

Not to be confused with the Virgin Holiday Voucher which requires a package holiday to be booked. I called Virgin Holidays and have got it confirmed that this can be done.

Have you already converted them?
I only ask as Virgin have a reward seat sale right now so you could get 2 x Economy seats for 50k miles. Which would be a huge saving.

Also bear in mind that expiring miles can easily be renewed - just go to the partners page while logged in to your Frequent Flyer account and buy a cheapy song track from iTunes for a couple of quid and you get another 3 years added to the expiry date (though if you got the mile last year and they're expiring soon maybe they had certain conditions attached?)
