No PIRATES NIGHT? on the Alaskan cruise?

FWIW, our 2013 Pacific repo lists Pirate Night on our itinerary right now although it lists nothing else.

That's strange...on the May 24th one, the party was inside. The weather wasn't bad, I was just under the impression that they were also under noise restrictions? It was a lot of fun, but *very* crowded in the atrium.

Maybe they were expecting rain?

We were the cruise right before you: May 17-24, 2011. We had the party up on deck. The buffet afterwards WAS inside (Beach Blanket).

This is probably our worst picture from the Pirate Party, but I am sharing it because it shows the Pirate party on stage AND you can see some cruisers dressed in jackets, sweatshirts, beanies, and other warm clothing --- hopefully settling any question that this was Alaska. ;) (After this photo, 6' 5" DH took over the photographic duties. :lmao: )

Too bad but I'm not surprised as they bill it Pirates IN the Caribbean....

- giggle - We have partied at a Pirates IN the Caribbean party on the Wonder in Alaska, Mexico, and the Bahamas. pirate:

ETA: I just had this thought. The OP says:
I was aware they didn't do fireworks but I just called DCL to ask what night Pirates night was on and she said it wasn't on the Itinerary....
I don't believe it is on the ITINERARY. It IS part of the scheduled events, but if she was looking only at the itinerary, perhaps she didn't see it listed and is unaware that it is an event??? Just a thought.

Weird...no, as far as I know, it only rained once -- when we were in port in Juneau, and then it just drizzled. But now it's a case of what you don't know, you don't miss and vice versa. I had assumed that it was inside b/c of Alaskan regulations. Now that I find out that it was outside on other cruises, I'm bummed! Oh, well. Hoping that it's better (outside and WITH fireworks!) on the NYC/Canada cruise! We've gone all out on my husband's costume this time. Last year when he saw what Christian and the ship's officers were wearing, he said he didn't want a scruffy pirate costume -- he wanted to be a "commodore". So now he has a gentleman pirate costume, complete with authentic tricorn hat from Colonial Williamsburg! :rotfl:

I am sailing on the June 4th cruise to Alaska and was told last evening on the phone that there is no Pirate Party. The lady that I was speaking with could not supply a reason, however.

The only cruise with our exact itinerary is May 28th which puts them getting off June 4 and we will be there. LOL The one that is May 21 does go to Alaska but doesn't stop in Victoria. Maybe they will be able to answer the question just not my Victoria question. I know someone on that cruise.
Queenbee, if you don't leave until June 4th, the cruisers on the first Alaska cruise will be back and should be able to give you an answer on this. There are two leaving before yours, and I'm sure someone here can post after the 28th to let everyone know. We're on the one that leaves on the 28th, so I won't be any help to you since you'll be boarding the same day we depart, but I'm sure someone will be kind enough to help you out!

I am on the first Alaska trip leaving on the 21st. Just got off the phone with DCL: "formal night, semi-formal night, but no mention of a Pirate Night on any of the AK ships this season".

I am going to take her at her word because:
A) fewer things to pack
B) I'm tired of stressing out about it (I know...get a life)
c) My DD(12) doesn't even know about the cruise, let alone if there was ever going to be a Pirate Night :rotfl:

Our Alaskan Cruise last year had it, but it was very cold, and poorly attended. Maybe it isn't worth trying to pull off again in Alaska. Beg draw is typcially the fireworks, which they can't do anyway. Its not the same "Pirate Party" without the Magic Fireworks....

Although, that night, going back to our rooms we briefly saw the Northern Lights :)

We had a great time at the pirate party on the Dream last August, but I am with you on points A and B, mkladypink! There are lots of things to pack for Alaska, and I don't mind all the layers, the formal night stuff, the khakis and polos for the boys, but we could fund our Juneau excursion with the cost of the pirate costumes and gear for three boys! I'm OK with different themes for a different kind of cruise. :)

Update...got info from my fellow 5/21 shipmates that there is not a pirate MENU but still a pirate party. Taste of AK will replace the pirate menu. I think I will still stick to the plan of not taking pirate gear...may get flamed by Pirate die-hards, but I need the luggage space for my inner diva gear :bitelip:

I've spoken to three different CMs on three different days- and they've all confirmed that for our June 30th Alaska cruise, there will be NO Pirate Party night. :(

They did have them last year, without fireworks due to Alaska Maritime Law, but cxld them altogether this year. :( My husband said the same thing- well, we're not "in the Caribbean." But still!

This will be our first cruise OUTSIDE of the Caribbean! Hoping I don't cry over the colder temps! (:offtopic:)

I think some of the confusion might be that the CMs are just seeing that it says no pirate menu and think that means no pirate night.

I'm on the May 21st cruise and we've been told by several higher up CMs that there is one, and its on day 4.
