We won't be going into the parks for our trip in late Dec/ early January. We currently have 2 nights in a Grand Floridian 1 bedroom booked. We are planning on going to the pool, Disney Springs, and getting dinner at Cali Grill/ Narcoosees or room service depending on how we're feeling with Covid. We are socially distancing the best we can. Would you choose to go to Vero instead?

What do you want from your vacation? A Beach vacation in January will be very cold for swimming. But if you don't mind chilly walks along the beach, the experience can be nice.

If you want restaurants and cool Disney stuff and are not big beach people than continue to WDW

BUT - if you have the time and money. I would consider Aulani. Get the tests, Air fare is cheap and most will let you alter you itinerary right now.

For two nights, the flight to/from Hawaii isn’t worth it under any circumstances, and the testing required is a mess right now. People not getting results in time, changes in requirements, etc.

For OP, I’d stay at WDW. Your plans sound good.

Keep your reservations! We love Vero, but there isn't much to do or many places to eat nearby. Absorb as much of the "magic" as you can... Enjoy the best you can!

We're going down last week of Jan, first week of Feb, no parks , just resort and Disney Springs. I haven't even made any dinner reses yet, a little wary with the virus, but my wife is telling me to make them anyway and we can cancel them when we're there if we change our minds. Lets see how two weeks go without the parks.

WDW. As others have noted, if you want a bit more solitude and walks on the beach, then VB is lovely. They also have very limited dining opportunities on site, so to even get take out (other than a couple of small joints nearby), you have to drive into Sebastian or VB proper, and neither is Disney oriented. We returned from a short 3-night stay at the World, and we stepped into MK a couple of times just for the sights (and two rides first thing in the morning before any crowds appeared), and AK once to ride EE first thing and grab Starbucks and the giant Mickey cinnamon roll. We visited Disney Springs twice, both times in the middle of the day when it wasn't crowded. Most reports right now say that DS is quite crowded at night. We did take out from a couple of Disney restaurants for dinner and cooked one meal in our 1BR. We also mobile ordered lunch a couple of times. If we can't eat outside, we don't eat there. Still, with all the precautions, it still felt like a Disney vacation, albeit different than prior trips, naturally.

We are owners at BLT and VB and I agree with the consensus - for that time of year you are going to have more options at WDW. We love Vero but only go from late April to Sept. (Of course, we are Floridians so others may like the cooler times). The beach is truly the draw and without it not as much to do. Not many restaurants around there either. As someone else mentioned it depends on purpose of the trip but my guess is you will have more options at WDW.

We decided to skip WDW and moved our February trip to Vero. We don’t mind driving around to places like Pelican Island NWR and enjoying nature in FL. It’s the time to see manatees in certain areas!
