Very true, and it seems to be getting later and later. We've done three trips there so far this year, in Jan (1 bedroom), Feb (GV) and July (1 bedroom).
Every one of them, we didn't get into the room until past 5p.
We have one more trip there this year (and another in Jan) and am hoping our luck will change. But until this year, we must have been lucky because our rooms were usually ready at or around 4p, with one actually ready at noon!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
We're coming from the Wonder's Repo cruise ending in San Diego- and the last time we stayed at the GC we were staying with a military discount. And used the rate to springboard to concierge for $35 more per night!!
Think good thoughts for us then- I'd hate to have to sit in their lobby until 4 or 5....
Before our trip I just called GCH for any reservations we needed (BABW, character meals, cabana bookings, villa room number requests) & any other questions about the resort. They were so helpful. Make sure you write down your reservation #'s (couple times they couldn't find them til I gave the #'s).
Earlier this month we didn't get the text the villa was ready til 3:57!!! Then when we switched to the studio we got the text at 3:58! Talk about cutting it close. I think if pull my hair out if I had to wait until 5pm!
On our trip last August, we did not get in until 4:50pm. We started asking at the desk at 4:00pm, they kept saying a few more minutes. Finally around 4:45 the front desk cm went to the room himself to check. It was finished a couple minutes later. He gave us a each an instant fastpass as compensation. Could be used on anything except RSR. We used it for Toy Story.
We had no problems checking in at VGC last October, but then waited in a long line for 30 minutes to check our bags with Bell Services. I do not know what was going on. But suddenly 8 bellman showed up and cleaned out the line.
