:sad2: I asked two questions on other threads and no one will answer. Plenty are reading them but no one will answer. I will try here.

1st question asked. Has anyone noticed how fast non stop flights are being booked, and how fast the prices are going up? :confused3
I just booked on American Airlines for 5 people and lucky to get non stop and it came to a little over $1,900.

Does this seem steep or normal?

2nd question asked. This one may be a real dumb dumb question but here goes. can I hop on the bus from AK to go to AKL for a meal at Boma? Or do I have to go back to my resort and start from scratch? What is the distance between AKL and AK? I don't want to step on anyone toes by using their bus.

Sorry I don't know the answers to your questions.

The airfare really depends on where you're going and when but they are going up fast with rising gas prices.

As for your AKL question yes you can. You can take buses to any resort from the parks not just AKL. I don't remember how far AKL is from AK from when we stayed there but it couldn't have been more than 5 or 10 minutes.

Yes you should be able to hop on a bus from AK to AKL.

If you go back to your resort and start from scratch--you will have to travel to a hub (1 of the 4 parks or DTD) and then do the same.

As far as airfare. I don't know when your dates are. 5 people at $380 a piece seems high--but that really depends on where you are originating. That's about what we would pay to fly to El Paso, TX on a good day. I do not know what is normal for Illinois to be able to judge that ticket price. You can download DING from SWA and they will ding you with deals often.

ETA: Additionally--seats are planes are batched for different fares. And once a fare sells out--there are no more. So it may seem to the traveler that the rates are going up--but in reality--probably just means that all the lower fares just sold out.

Feel free to use the bus to get anywhere you like. You never have to start back at point A to get to point C. Sorry I don't have an answer to question #1.

What Lou said.

I haven't booked a flight since January. I think it would depend on where you were going and when.

And you can use any of the buses to go anywhere. On my last trip, DD and I toured resorts and used all kinds of transportation.

1: No, but I'm not surprised. ;)
2: Maybe normal, if you are booking for summer...........anytime from August on, I'd say a bit steep. :confused3
3: Yes. :thumbsup2
4:No.
5: I don't know. :confused3

5 by my count! Hope that helps! :woohoo:

When are you going? If you are going over the holidays then airfare is always high. If you are going in the summer then it is too steep a price.

Nothing to add, but posting to make up for those who didn't! :)

#1. I have no clue.

#2. Yes, you can. Ride the bus all day long, to and from anywhere! They don't care. :)

I think you can actually walk from AK to AKL. But after dinner you'll have to take a bus to a park and then switch to get the bus back to your resort.

1. You didn't say where you are flying from or where you are going. Is that to Orlando? From where? That seems really steep. We are travelling to WDW in Oct. I bought my airfare over a month ago. Paid $210 pp. I bought early b/c I was afraid airfare was going to go insane.

2. I have no idea, but I see you've gotten some answers to this already.

Good Luck.

I've never stayed at the AKL, but we always go eat breakfast at Boma on our trips. If we don't have a car, we do exactly what you mentioned with the buses. Once you are actually on a bus from AK to AKL or vice versa, it will only take about 5 minutes. The problem is that you might have to wait 15 or 20 minutes on the bus to pick you up. So if you need to be there at a certain time, allow time to wait on a bus. If the bus pulls up right away and you get there earlier than needed, you are lucky and can just browse around in the Zawadi Marketplace, the lobby, or the grounds :goodvibes.

From the AKL, you just catch a bus to where ever you want to go that buses go (e.g. parks, DTD), then get to your resort from there.

Sure you could, it would just take a while. Technically, you can walk to any of the parks. :teeth:

Thanks everyone. I knew I could count on you.

In answer to some questions. We are traveling from Chicago to Orlando. yes I guess it is considered a holiday time since it will be two weeks before Easter. I also figured with the gas prices I should book as soon as possible. Now I just won't look any more in case the fares do go down a bit.

Thanks again!!

You are going to kick yourself for booking your tickets so early. From Chicago to Orlando you could have gotten tickets for under $200/person, probably closer to $150/person. Never book flights this early-they are ALWAYS more expensive. The best time to book a flight is about 21 days or so before your flight. You will probably save money by changing your tickets to something less expensive closer to your trip-even with the ticket change fee.

Hey Stitchfans! :wave2:
We miss you on the Chicago disers thread, when are coming back to the thread?
I can't answer the AKL question, but as of airfare, I think Southwest may go to Orlando and Airtrans(I think both out of Midway).
Spirit airlines(from O'Hare) used to go out to Orlando, not sure if they do anymore.

The 21 day thing is NOT always true, especially during holidays like spring break. I'm a travel agent (corporate, not leisure) and I can't tell you how many business travelers I have to book to go to FL in the spring who assume they can get a cheap last minute flight, and we can barely find them a seat, let alone a good price. My company is strongly considering restricting business travel to FL cities in March/April due to cost because we've had so much trouble the past few years, in fact.

I do think the OP booked too early (unless traveling the week of Easter itself) but to wait until 21 days prior during spring break is foolish at best and a disaster in the making at worst, especialy needing 5 seats the way the OP does (and double especialy from Chicago, where the vast majority of the flights to Orlando fly totally full). At my company, for spring break travel to FL cities, we try to get our people to book by the end of December, we find that after the holidays is when most people look to start booking for spring travel and the space starts to dry up and the fares begin to increase. For travel to almost anywhere else at any other time of the year, we find booking between 60 and 30 days prior to travel tend to yeild the best balance of good flight availability (meaning you generally have your choice of flight times) and good prices. In fact we require all our business travelers to book 30 days prior to travel whenever they have advance notice of a meeting. These are just general trends we notice, we've seen jaw droping good deals at just 7 days out and horrible prices at 30 days out, it's still a game of Rusian Roulette at times! But more often than not, 60 to 30 days out is a good bet for non-holiday travel.

To the OP, American is one of those airlines where if they come out with a lower fare for the exact dates and flights you are on, they'll issue you a credit for the differance good towards future travel. You have to find the lower fare, they won't notify you. Keep checking, if you see a signifigant fare reduction (and with fuel prices, you may not) you can contact AA and ask for the credit.
