OKW must be very busy for the first week of December. I called on Friday afternoon at 4:45 p.m. EDT to check on availabilty for Dec. 1 to Dec. 9 - One Bedroom at OKW. Was told there was availability. I told the the very kind CM at DVC that I had to confirm my flights and my vacation time with my company and I would call back early on Monday. Our use year is September and we have a total of 460 points.

I called DVC today at 9:50 a.m. and was told that there was no 1 bedroom units available at OKW from 12/1 to 12/9 - even for cash! I was also told that there was nothing available for BWV, WL or BCV for points or cash for those dates. It is hard to believe that in a matter of 1 hour (between Fri. at 4:45 and Mon. at 9:50) all one bedroom units were sold out! I was told that there were two bedroom units available for those dates for both points and cash. I do not wish to use points for a unit that I do not need for two adults.

We have been "wait listed". I hope that this process works as this is our last week of vacation for the year. We have not used the wait list program before. Have any of you had success?

Thank you for your input. Bob D.

Bob,

Wow, that stinks.

I have waitlisted with success. I would recommend taking any days available and than listing day by day. You can always cancel if it requires too many moves, but I think you have a better chance of it coming through that way.

Good luck
Sandy

the first Ms might have been wrong

December is very, very popular - and all the DVC resorts are generally sold out before now.

but get on the wait list - on the day-by-day wait list - so if you get any of the days - not the whole time wait list.

it is very strange that they have 2-bedroom - I was told that first the studio, then 2-bedroom, then GV, then 1-bedroom was generally the sold out way.

I hope you get what you want - but a 2-bedroom is still cheaper in points than going to a WDW resort using your points.

If you have already made the plane reservations - I would get the 2-bedroom just so you know you have something.

I would ask which nights are sold out. It's possible that just one night sold out between Friday and Monday, throwing off the entire reservation. If they are all sold out, then I'd say the first cm made a mistake. They also said not available for cash, did they mean member discount? I just checked disney.com and there is a 1 bedroom available through there for your dates at OKW.

I'm not surprised that the there's no DVC inventory at this late date for early December. The point charts make early December a great time to stay at DVC resorts.

Because OKW is over ten years old, there are undoubtedly more and more members whose children have left home, and who are thus no longer tied to school vacation calendars.

And it's a wonderful time to visit WDW -- holiday decorations, great weather, and short lines in the parks.

We have a 2 bedroom for the 1st to 7th of December, we made this reservation 11 months out!! As said this is a very popular time at the resort and you need to make the ressie either at the 11 month window or 7 months, if OKW is not your home resort!

Horace, we're OKW owners and have been since 93....those darn kids keep coming back!!! We love it though!!!

I'd definitely call back. Early December is low season for Disney other than DVC'ers... At the same time Dec 1st is the Monday after Thanksgiving. It could be people are abutting a week off with Thanksgiving.
