No new ships anytime soon

It's very interesting to see how different sources spin things differently.

Here is an article from the Orlando Sentinel:

<a href="http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/custom/tourism/orl-asecdisney10101003oct10,0,1320083.story?coll=orl-home-promo">Disney looks to new ideas to boost parks, cruise line</a>

wow, that's a little disappointing...

Nevertheless, since coming back from 10/5 cruise, we were very happy with the changes/additions made on the Wonder- not the least of which was the addition of The Golden Mickeys show- you folks seeing it for the first time will not be disappointed....the $ is really on the stage with this production...

Interesting Orlando Sentinel article. Can't believe Disney is using the exchange rate as a factor in not building more ships. NCL just ordered 2 more ships a few weeks ago with Meyer Werft in Germany. NCL doesn't even charge close to the premium prices Disney does. There has to be more to the equation.

This is a little OT from cruising, but the Orlando article states (incorrectly):
Disney also is expected to confirm plans to bring to Epcot a virtual clone of Soarin' Over California, one of the most popular rides at Disney's California Adventure park in Anaheim, Calif.
In fact it is one only about 6 rides at DCA, Disney either needs to add a lot of attractions to DCA or make it part of Disneyland (Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom)

The exchange rate arguement about NOT building another cruise ship or two seems really, really weak to me. They build two more sister ships and the cost per ship drops dramatically, place one on the west coast and position the 3rd at port canaveral taking longer cruises (like the upcomming 10 day cruise) and they would have 4 full ships paying for themselves in a reasonable time frame.

One of the things I was asked not to talk about when we were on the May cruise, directly from Cruise Director Rick, along with good info that I have passed along about the remodeling that happened when the Magic was in drydock was exactly what the Orlando Sentinel has printed.

Disney is entertaining contracts, but is waiting on the Euro to be more favorable to the US dollar. Now you have to think on their scale: depending on the exchange rates, you could easily be talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions.
