I was just at Universal May 4th. We rode Revenge of the Mummy and LOVED it! I was looking on the Universal website for a description of the Mummy ride and stumbled on the Mummy website. I watched the little video of the ride and in there they showed a robotic Mummy stepping out of a wall. Then in the photos section, there is a picture of the robotic Mummy holding his hand up to the mummified "tourist".

I do not remember seeing a robotic Mummy anywhere else but the "control room". Is this something that you normally see? We rode the Mummy three times throughout the day and I don't ever remember the robotic walking Mummy.

Sometimes, that part will be inoperable. When that happens, a video of the Mummy's face is played on the head of the casket which threatens you with the same message. Did you see a different mummy wearing a ball cap warning you about the curse of the Mummy? Its the casket next to that ball cap wearing mummy, where the Mummy might or might not jump out of.

We were there for a week in January and it never worked once. I knew it was missing because he had been there the previous 100 times we rode it. I bet it's not coming back otherwise you would think they would have had time since January to fix it.

We were there in May also and the first mummy you encounter (just as the ride starts) was working fine every time we rode it (10+ times).

Hit or miss for us. We ride Mummy a lot, and I'd say it works maybe 70 percent of the time.

Thank you! I was wondering if this was a permanent missing element or not. Sounds like it is hit or miss. Too bad we missed it. We'll just have to go again. ;)

DH and I have turned it into a little competion. Every time we ride, we bet each other a quarter on whether it will be working or not.

When we rode it last year the mummy was working but missing a hand :rotfl:

Past year or so its been hit or miss, maybe its getting worn out.:thumbsup2

Thats what I'm thinking also..US should not cheap out on this cause its one of my fav parts of the ride. But I'm lucky,in the past year I only seen it not working 2times..

I've been lucky and have only seen it not working one time.

What is the deal? Between Universal's Mummy and Disney's Yeti, monsters aren't faring too well.

The mummy issue is not really on of it working or not (usually)...it is the fact the it takes a certain time to reset the effect and sometimes that time is more than when it is needed to go off again for the next railcar to pass or the effect did not reset properly. It is rarely completly out of show for a day/week unless there is a major tech issue.

It is funny to notice when things are missing. And sometimes its the most random thing. Like I was on Spiderman my last trip, and the "spidey signal" was out! I guess it needed a new lightbulb or something, lol.

We were there 3 months ago. The mummy worked most of the time, but we saw the video on the coffin a few times too. We rode this ride a lot. Love it!

I don't think there was even a video on the coffin. Are you talking about when you get into the temple area? All that we saw was the mummy with the hat saying to turn back because the curse is real. Then you go around the corner with the lights on the wall and then you go into the temple room and that is the first time you see the mummy on the screen.

That makes perfect sense. Thanks for the explanation. :thumbsup2

Of course there was the time when the sound was out of sync too but those little things are no big deal to me. I just love this ride!!!

Yes, with the full animation, while the mummy with the hat is warning you to turn back, the main Mummy jumps out of the coffin next to him. The Mummy holds up his hand toward the hat wearing mummy to silence him and then starts threatening the riders.
