Hi all and welcome to the first NO more WEAK-ends thread!
For all of those who get Weak on the (what we call) WeAk-ends.
This is the place for you.
It seems many of us agree that small goals are a good thing so, threads like Onderland and new years challenge etc. are a great sub-support for a certain group of people. This is for all of us (of course) but especially those who are having trouble sticking to eating healthy during the hectic weAk-ends.
I, myself have noticed that during the week days, my life is preety much routine. My two older children are off to school and I am home most of the time with my two little ones. On the days I decide to venture out, I make a plan. I plan on eating before I leave so there are no drive thru visits and no of that " the kids are hungry I must take them to Mickey Dee's" and then manage to woof down a big mac and fries as they leave their food and play in the ball pit ( then I may attack their food as well). I also schedule any appointment (doctor, dentist etc) according to the time of day so, thats its right after breakfast of lunch. This once again assures me no nonsense eating on the go.
Then come the weAk-ends!!!!!!
Where nothing is really planned or if it is I have set myslef up for disaster!
The WeAk-ends comes along and there is rountine just mostly anything goes. Spur of the moment type things.
:earseek:

:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:

Which leads me to NO more WeAk-ends...........
Every thrusday evening we can post about our up coming plans for that particular weekend and help one another make good choices about what to do (eat) in a certian situation.
Even if we have no plan for the weekend, we can still help another on a good choice.
On Monday report back to your fellow WeAkenders and let us know how you did. Also, there is a weekly Monday night chat (9pm) we can get to gether there and chat about how the WeAkend went.
I also thought about weigh-in's, but of course that is totally optional (although I will do it)
So without further ado.....my upsoming weAk-end will definitely be a challenge, so I will be the first to go.

The family and I will not be able to attend my Inlaws Thanksgiving dinner next week. My mother in law was a little upset about this so, she invited us this weAk-end to have a early thanksgiving. I now have literally two thanksgiving dinners to be concern with.
I have been thinking (stressing)about the Real thanksgiving dinner for about a month now. Then this came about! Besides the early TG dinner we have to drive 3 hours to get there so theres that stopping along the way (drive thrus) that also have me concerned. You see thats kind of a ritual, you know, the kids and the long trip and stopping is always a treat for them.

What sort of eating plan are you following? If you are following WW then I would load the plate up with turkey from the breast, lots of veggies, and avoid butter and gravy and give myself small portions of stuffing and mashed potatoes - pass on desert. If you are doing Atkins I would do the same thing except I would use some butter on my veggies. Ask your mother in law if you can make or bring a dish. And then bring a big salad or some type of legal food that you can eat.

By the way I think this is a great thread because I never actually force out a plan for the weekends.

Friday Night: Will be grilled chicken breast (I just picked up a great spice I am looking forward to using), Green beans, and salad. Snack foods for watching a movie will be either peanuts or strawberries with whip cream.

Saturday: Watching the OHIO state football game at BW's so I will be eating Hot Chicken wings and a salad. I will avoid all fries and anything with potaotes. Dinner will be based at home where we will probably do something on the fly like salads, sausage and cheese, or left overs from Friday.

Sunday: Breakfast will be egg, ham, and cheese crossover. Lunch will be a big salad with meat in it, and dinner will be at my dad's. It typically consist of a meat, starch, and veggie - I'll just avoid the starch.

By the way if I get a chance I would also like to work out on Saturday.

~Amanda

I am not really following anything particular although I am wacthing the carbs........
Im thinking I could defintely keep away from the starches...
but our ritual stopping will be hard...
I tend to say ahhh hell its the weekend I have been good all week.
So i am aiming for a mickey dees salad. I have had them before and there pretty good with the low fat newmans vinagerette.
I sometimes plan on cheatig. I have been anticiapting this weekend and saying things like I have been so good this week.....I am gonna SAVE my bad stuff for that stop over!
lol.
Tomorrow night I am heading over to the mall and theres another ritual... we always eat when were there.
The kids have asked me how come we dont eat out anymore. and although i know its not good for them either i do kinda feel bad.
This weAkend thing has really become bad...
I was thinking about it earlier and I started to think that I get through the weeks cause I keep telling myself I ll cheat on the weAkends! lol.
anyone else do this?

Renee, for the trip to your in-laws, try bringing some healty snacks in the car so you won't need to stop for fast food. But don't bring too much in the way of liquid, or you will need to make pit stops and that is more temptation. As far as dinner strategy, keep careful control of your portion sizes. Fill your plate with what you consider a healthy amount, eat it and wait before you get seconds, to see if you are still hungry. Also, stay away from the deluge of appetizers and desserts. Pretend you are living healthy. Picture yourself graciously saying "No thank you." Spend time talking and enjoying eachother. Always have a glass of water with you. Really, carry it with you and you will be less tempted to be grabbing food, because you will have something in your hand. You can do it!

Saturday will be excruciatingly difficult for me as we will be watching the
U of M/OSUgame. That means big party and lots of not so good for me foods. Sunday, the family wants bbq ribs. Another not on the healthy living menu plan. Truthfully, I'm scared to death. don't know where I'm going with this weakend. I'm actually less worried about Thanksgiving than I am about this weakend.:earseek:

So, I am opened for suggestions. Help!

Keep the Faith!
Tracy

Renee, I've found my little cheat free bear to be GREAT motivation for staying cheat free, even on the weAkends. At the moment, I have pledged to be cheat-free until Thanksgiving, but then I don't have an extra early Thanksgiving celebration to deal with. Maybe you can decide to splurge during ONE MEAL during each weAkend. That way, you can decide what you really want to eat and have it, hopefully in moderation??

Tracy, those football parties are TOUGH! I'd eat before you go and definitely take your own snacks!! I eat low-carb so I'd take a cheese & bologna tray for everyone, especially me, to nibble on, and maybe a can of mixed nuts to sit out. I like your idea of ALWAYS having a glass of water in hand.

My weAkend plans are still up in the air. Tonight - nothing on the calendar - who knows?? Tomorrow, the family will be going on a 6 mile walk. We'll have breakfast at home. I'll have water and Atkins protein bars with me. Lunch will be out but I'm sure I'll eat low-carb, wherever we end up. Sunday looks like another lazy day, after church. I hope to plan my meals for next week, do the grocery shopping and possibly cook some of the food ahead of time to make next week's evenings less hectic.

My current weight is 131. Good luck all!!

I'd eat before you go and definitely take your own snacks!!

LOL! Doe, the party is at my house! I'm still laughing at the situation.

I'm going to make cheese soup, have some beer and chill a bottle of champagne and probably have some healty apps, like veggie tray, and I found a recipe for goat cheese and roasted garlic croutes. I figure if there is a lot of cheese in the offering, I will stay away from most of it. Not a big fan of cheese. Then maybe a large salad for dinner with some chicken breast on top. The only thing I haven't got a solution for is DH keeps talking about ordering a bucket of wings from Hooters! :earseek: Don't know if I can disuade him, but I'm not even going to bring it up and just say NO if he asks tomorrow.

Keep the Faith!
Tracy

Too funny!! Sorry, Tracy!! Good luck - I'll be thinking about you!

I hope this thread gives me strength. With T-day coming up I need to be good this weekend. Plus I haven't been great this week, so I really don't have Flex points to get me through.

I can do this though! I'm going to clean the house for Thanksgiving. That should keep me busy and help me burn calories.

Also, I starting the Couch to 5K running training program this weekend. I'm pretty excited about it, so maybe that will help give me a boost.

Best of luck to everybody. If I feel close to the breaking point I might be posting on this thread for inspiration.

Tomorrow I have to work and I usually do very good at work on a week day but when I am there by myself on a Saturday I tend to blow it by snacking on a nut mixture that a co-worker always has laying around in a gallon bag for everybody to help themselves. Once I get started on that I just can't seem to stop and even though it is nuts and soy nuts which are good lo carb snacks, when you eat 1-2 cups of it it is very bad LOL. My strategy for dealing with this tomorrow is going to be as soon as I get to work I am going to lock that bag of nuts up in a cabinet in a different room!!!

The rest of the weekend, including today, I will be busy cleaning and getting ready to have 20 people over for Thanksgiving dinner. That should keep me very busy, hopefully too busy to blow it . If I need a snack I'll have cheese or pepperoni chips or an Atkins Shakes.

Having the cheat free bear star has really helped me this week (I am at 4 days so far and the farthest I've gotten with it before was 2 days) and I am vowing right now that by Sunday night it will have a 7 on it. I really want to stay cheat free until Thanksgiving. It would be sooooo nice to se a 10 by my bear next Wed. night!

Good luck everyone and thanks for helping to keep me motivated! If I feel like I'm about to get weak, I'll be back here looking for your help.

Cheryl..this is only to help you resist that 'community' bag of treats. Just think of all the gross, germy, flu bug covered hands that have dipped into it!!!!

I don't have any big plans this weekend, I do work Sunday so hopefully that will keep me distracted. I think the 'big one' is going to be next weAkend!! I just need to watch myself around what DH is snacking on!!.

Oh..this is the worst!! My 'best' friend bought me a 1/2 gallon of BlueBell Peppermint ice cream!! It's my favorite and it's only out this time of year...how sweet is she!!! I've been eating 2-3 (large) tablespoons a day (not on atkins) I can't bring myself to throw it away!!

Dis Fam 95, Thanks, thinking if all those germy hands, especially seeing how I work in a hospital, will really help to keep me out of that bag! I don't have time to get sick!!!

So far so good today......but if I didnt have enough to worry about...lol last night my sons teacher called and asked me to make mashed potatoes and come join them In a classroom thanksgiving feast. So this would make a third thanksgiving meal for me. LOL. I did and although I vowed not to eat there I did but was all the good stuff.....turkey veggies etc. OH yea and cranberry sauce ( I hope that was ok.........cranberry sauce had me gueesing about carbs! lol) anyway the important thing is I stayed away from the mashed potatoes and stuffing.
Funny thing is I really had my eye on the stuffing and the mom that made the stuffing made so many comments about hwo she thought it didnt come out good and this was her worst batch ever......I am sure it was probably good BUT I WOULDNT KNOW LOL. she scared me away from it! lol. Anyway WISHERS......Im off to PA tomorrow so I wont be posting till MOnday and hopefully will be at the monday night chat.
My stratagy for the inlaws.....I have narrowed it down to be simple.....
Mother in law and I do not like one another so I am planning to stay away from her as much as posssible .....
gonna bring my night quil and catch up on some sleep while Im there. The only good thing about her is she takes care of all 4 of my children while Im there! lol.
As much as I hate to say it I am a smoker (next challenge after weight goal), I cant smoke in her house so my other stratagy will be to bring a book and spend lots of time smoking outside...
all of the above will keep me away from the food and the mother in law...................CAUSE SHES ALWAYS NEAR THE FOOD!

Wiskband till monday ....
BE strong:teeth:
and NO MORE WEAK_ENDSSSSSSSSSSSS

OK I made it through today without digging into that snack bag at work or cheating on anything else. My bear gained another day of not cheating! Only 1 more day left to this weekend!

Stay strong everyone and resist those temptations!

Yesterday was a bit of challenge but actually I did pretty good. I didn't eat any breakfast because we got kind of a late start. Went to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the MSU vs. OSU game (So disappointed that OSU lost!) where I ate 11 chicken wings in Medium sauce. I only snagged two of my husbands french fries and I drank diet soda the whole day. That evening I went to a friends house and she brought me a regular coke (augh!) I sipped at it but didn't drink the whole thing which was probably 2 cokes. Over the 5 hours I was there I only drank about half of it. I knew that coke was loaded with carbs so when I got home about 9p.m. and still hadn't eaten dinner yet (Yes those 11 chicken wings kept me full the whole day) we went to Hardees where I got a 2/3 lb double cheeseburger - I removed the bun and ate my burger with a fork and knife - I couldn't even afford the carbs of one of the buns. Just so you know I usually only order a 1/3 lb cheeseburger but I keep half my bun - since I couldn't afford the carbs I had to order the biggest burger they had because by then I was getting pretty hungry.

Plan for today - Breakfast is going to be eggs, ham, and cheese. Lunch will be either a salad or left over Chicken Paremesean (7carbs) Dinner is at my Dad's and I have no idea what he is serving. Worse is he always keeps a bowl of M&M's on the table (my favorite) hopefully I will be able to resist.

Hi all Sunday night and just got back from the in laws......
side note: my mother in law and I actually got along. but anyway Ill cut to the chase or Ill never tell......
I did not do so well, unfortunately!
BUT, it could have been worse.
Heres my rationalization though, lol
I ate my early thanksgiving dinner yes even the stuffing and rice.
And the next morning mother in law made pancakes which I also ate, BUT (here we go) she had no eggs and didn't want her to have to make somthing just for me while she was feeding 12 other people.
ALSO, (here we go again) I HAVEN"T HAD PANCAKES in like 3 months!!!!!!!!! So I thought this once would be ok.
This evening we had left overs and again I eat everything.
the good news is I did stick do diet soda which I made my hubby go out and buy for me and I didn't snack in between (except for about 2 spoonfuls of ice cream after dinner)
SO there is it....me the STARTER of no more weAkends FIRST thread.....
totally screwed up.lol

On the 4 hour ride home I started to think about WHY!!!!!
I came up with the same reason, I have learned how to eat when I am home and how to schedlue things so I won't screw up......Its just when Im away from home or in a spontanious situation I lose it!
I think I really start to rationalize.
Gonna have to start to learn how to be out or away from home and make good choices, I definitly have the home thing down packed.
anyway as far as the scale I am one pound up which totally upsets me cause I have not gone up once during this whole crusade...I have satyed the same for a few days but never up.
I have no doubt I will do fine the next three days but then thursday will come along and I am having thanksgiving at a relatives house so I am gonna start thinking of a plan.
TIll next weekend.
thanks all

I survived the weAkend and am the same weight as when it started - 131. All our plans went out the window and we spent the weekend at DH's parents' house. DH & DS helped shingle the roof. I was good though and didn't cheat, despite the MANY temptations that my dear MIL had around. I did have 2 small pieces of candy but I counted the carbs.

It was a good weekend and I was STRONG! :sunny: Next weekend will be a challenge, but I am claiming Thanksgiving Day as a planned cheat. The trick will be to get right back on track....

HI again......I previously posted that I gained a pound this weekend..
I was actually wrong. thankfully.
Somehow I actually lost 2 pounds.
Unless that food plans on sneaking up on me in the next tqo days.lol.
Anyway till next weekend.
renee

Sometimes when you eat more you will lose weight - you are shaking up your metabolism. I don't think you did bad at all. After all it is the holidays and it is hard to turn down the traditional feast food. You stuck to your diet soda and water. And you didn't snack in between meals - that in itself is a victory.

~Amanda

Renee, congratulations on losing 2 pounds that's great! I don't think you did bad at all considering all the circumstances and it was a Thanksgiving dinner and weekend away!

I survived the weekend without blowing it but I did gain 2 pounds which I think is water retention beacues of TOM so I'm not going to get to upset because if I stick to being good that and hopefully 1 or 2 more will be gone.

I am planning Thanksgivivng Day as a planned cheat but I am planning on not cheating too badly LOL. Then I will jump right back on the wagon full force on Friday and hopefully be strong next weekend.
