For the love of pete! Are the buses getting worse?? I think I read they have a shortage of bus drivers- if this is true you can CERTAINLY tell!

DH and I have been riding Disney buses over our last 10 trips, but this one has got to be the worst! The long waits at the resort POFQ, the long waits at the parks- ok sometimes and I WILL NEVER STAY AT ANOTHER RESORT THAT SHARES A BUS!!!!! :furious:

Weve stayed at the AS resorts and chose POFQ b/c we wanted to move up.
I chose the POFQ b/c of how quiet it would be and we would get picked up first and dropped of first- the resort was BEAUTIFUL! I have absolutely NO complaints about that, the CMs, the room, the pool- all great BUT!

I am so tired of wasting my time on a bus! Sure we get picked up first- and YAY we get a seat- but THEN we have to make 4 other stops at the POR! JUST GET ME TO THE PARK! PLEASE! I dont want to stop at the waterparks beforehand! JUST GET ME TO THE PARK!

OH- and on the way home from PI- the bus does the rounds BACKWARDS! one night the bus was packed with people and of course we had the one child who was crying uncontrollably- I have just a tad bit of claustro and was counting the seconds to get off the bus! UNTIL THE BUS DRIVER SAID RIVERSIDE FIRST! :scared: NOOOOOOOO! let me off here in the road and I will walk!

You can visibly see the bus "supervisors" in their white chevy trucks all over the place. they even have people out at the resort bus stops in the morning with some kind of clip board monitoring the buses-- it is getting crazy! You can tell as soon as you walk to your bus stop at the resort if the bus is late- there are tons of people and they are all milling around- impatiently!

Next time- maybe the POP- they have their own bus, right?!

POR/POFQ are notorious for having bad bus service. Sharing stinks!

This is why we rent a car.

When you drive, you often end up parking way down at the end of the row far from the tram lane, and once you board the tram you sit there waiting for stragglers as the conductor keeps on announcing "no more boarding please". Then at night you have to wait in lines for the parking lot tram, and you have the problem of the folks in the column next to you cutting over into your row of trams seats so you ahve to wait for the next tram!

I had absolutely no problem with the buses at POR in June 05. We never once mad the trip around after being picked up at the main stop. It was off to the parks. We never stopped at a water park on the way.....

I would not hesitate to stay at POR again and I will use the buses. Each person's experiences will vary....

My last visit was fine until the last day and that was bus hell.

The OKW-MK bus driver stopped at the front building stop at OKW and opened the front door, then shut it to open the back door for a young lady in a wheelchair and her party. The girl got out of the wheelchair (her leg was in a cast) and her family helped her on board the bus, then they folded the wheelchair and got on.

The driver then shut the rear door and drove away from the bus stop.

Aren't they supposed to open the front door for more passengers?

I took the next bus, which went to Epcot, so I could transfer to the monorail to MK. I told the driver about the MK bus driver. She said I should go to the MK bus station at the TTC and report it. So when I got there I talked to a bus manager who said no way should the OKW driver have driven off after the wheelchair passenger loaded.

So I went and had my couple of hours at MK, leaving in time to take a bus back to OKW for my Magical Express pickup. That went okay...the bus showed up at the MK stop in time to get me there and pick up my luggage.

The bus driver took us to Port Orleans. The passengers had to remind him that he was driving an OKW bus. Because he took so long getting out of Port Orleans (he drove all the way around both FQ and Riverside instead of going back out to the main road), I almost missed the ME bus.

I'm looking to see if there is more bus trouble on my upcoming trip. I've been riding them for years and never had anything like those two incidents happen at all...but they happened in one day, on one round trip.

In over 38 visits to the World, our bus service from any resort has been great. Hey, with any system, there are times when a snafu occurs but I still believe in the free bus service. I like having not to drive, saving on car rental, we get to where we're going, are in no great hurry and most always have a seat in a clean A/Ced disney bus. No parking hassles, exiting lines of parking lots, just a short wait for a bus if you time your exit right, we linger in the parks when they close and let the mass exit and mosey our way to the bus stop. Its all a personal choice, but we prefer using the disney buses, to each there own, they have improved it seems to me in getting buses here to there.

Not us. We go when it isn't crowded. We're not early risers so by the time we get to the parks we can park as close to the tram as we like. I've never had to wait a long time for the tram, or walk too far. We did waste an hour one day trying to get from one park to another with the bus system. And the day we took the bus system we had to wait 30 minutes for each bus to arrive. I think we've waited 5 minutes tops for a tram at the parks.

You also have to wait in long lines for buses. And then be packed in like cattle and worry about if you have to give up your seat or not and if not someone will write nasty things about you on the disboards. Or give you evil looks because they believe they are entitled to the seat more than you.

Only time we'll take the bus now is for Pleasure Island.

DH said he would either rent a car next time- or- see how much the taxis are that are trolling around for us angry bus people! :rotfl: When all is said and done they might be just as much as paying for a rental car for the week. :confused3

We stayed at the All Star Movies this past August and the buses were HORRIBLE!!!!

We waited 45 minutes twice for the MGM bus to and from our resort. Our line at park closing at MK was the longest BY FAR and all the other resort bus lines were non-existant.

We ended up driving more than using the bus.

Also ASMovies is far from everything! I couldn't believe how long it took to get to the parks.

I have NEVER had an issue with parking and the trams. We've never had to walk far to one and we've never had to sit there and wait for straglers. We also have no problem at all folding our small, lightweight stroller. No complaints on the trams from us. Sometimes we're even close enough to walk!

Rental car from now on!

We never rent a car at WDW and have always had good luck with the bus system, until our June trip. We stayed at CR and frequently waited over 30 minutes for bus service. I thought maybe that's just the way CR was, but we ran into lots of people this summer who thought the bus waits were interminable.

I was just talking to a friend of mine who was in Disney the week before me- I didnt even mention the buses- she started her sentence with-- "AND WHAT'S UP WITH THE BUSES!?"

I was like---- arghhhhhhhhhhh- I KNOW!!! :furious:

She has been there well over 20 times and they stayed at the Yacht Club this time-- it was bad there too!

Our boat captain at the POFQ mentioned that Disney is in dire need of employees- I guess bus drivers are on the top of the list! :confused3

To those who complain about the bus situation at Disney -- Have you ever used public transportation? (Disney really is not that bad.)

That's exactly what I was going to write!

Well, I can tell ya, that staying Deluxe this last week may not have eased your pain. We were at WL and many times went to either the CR or the Poly before our destination. When we left DTD we went to.....oh man, I foget which resort, but we picked people up and then went to Typhoon Lagoon and then went to the campground and then to WL. That was the weirdest one by far but many times it was not a straight shot. However, we did love the locations of the bus stops for WL and the boat to the MK was great.

We has ressies for Kona @ 5pm this past Saturday- we were at our POFQ bus stop at around 4pm we got on the PI bus around 4:20- we were VERY lucky that we were the last pick up stop for the route to PI (remember- the route went backwards for PI! see first post) b/c we had to pick up a bus for the Poly over there.

Picked up the Poly bus at PI that shared a stop with the CR- BUT what they did not state on the bus sign was-- we had to stop at TL or BB I forget which water park!-- Stopped at the water park- off to CR- in the meantime our friends call DH and asks where he is- and he tells them he is not sure-- HE THINKS THE BUS IS TAKING US TO IRAQ! :lmao: it took us over 40 minutes to get to the Poly from our resort. that is about the time DH mentioned he would start taking taxis--- or forget ever eating at another resort again! :rolleyes1

First it was Boma (my first post with the crying child) now Kona. :faint:

Yes I have used public transportation, and Disney is actually worse because the buses run less often than the subways and buses here. I just don't find joy on my vacation riding buses.

I agree- I wouldnt compare Disney Trans to PT b/c I dont care about PT- I am in Disney....and paying a lot for it! :rotfl:

I am wasting precious time waiting and riding on buses! :snooty:

Our trip last week was the first time staying at a monorail resort. Wow! What a difference that makes. Taking the monorail is so much nicer than those awful buses. We did have to take a bus to AK and MGM, and we hated it. We had to make stops from CR to the POLY and to GF.

I'd like to stay at a monorial resort again, but rent a car to get to MGM and AK. But what an expense that would be! Those monorail resorts are pricey, then you're adding a rental car expense on top of it.

I think they just need to add alot more buses.

Yep, I agree. Our public transportation runs on a schedule and I can't tell you how many times we approached a stop just as in the distance we saw our bus pulling away. It would be nice to know that at 4:20 the bus is leaving DTD or whatever. I am sure there would be drawbacks to that system too. You also always know where you are going enroute and how long it takes to get there. DH takes a bus to lightrail to another bus to get to work and there is no guessing involved. He knows if he takes the 6:20 bus, that will get him to the next stop at X time etc. Heck, even taking the boat to WL from MK was never a sure thing. Sometimes you would go to FW first and sometimes it would be WL first. We never had anywhere we had to get to, but for some folks that would be tough.
