No more Stanby line for A&E?

I can only imagine how upset people are going to be that there is no standby line. Disney still hasn't educated people about Fast Passes. When we were down in June, we still had people around up believing that you have to "pay" for them.

Her eyes are photoshopped. Her eyes are dark brown.

I agree with many who wonder why the casting for Elsa is so hard...but I also think the hardest part of casting for princesses isn't facial features, but probably size (not too tall, not too short) and acting ability.

I'm guessing she wears blue contact lenses when she plays Elsa.

I agree that size is probably a big consideration, but I have to laugh at the thought of acting ability being a consideration. I usually feel somewhat embarrassed by the overall bad acting when we meet the princesses. I mean I'm sure saying the same shtick all day long it's probably hard to make it sound fresh and "real" every time but I'm pretty sure I do a better job play-acting when I do all the voices for my kids' storybooks. :lmao:

That is not at all true about on site guests. If people are clueless about FP it's their own fault. Disney has sent me no fewer than 5 mailings, either snail mail or e-mail, regarding making our FP selections. Granted, that can only apply to on site guests but no on site guest has any excuse for not knowing. It's not Disney's fault they don't read.

Nothing appears to be Disney's fault. It is all the dumb guests who can't get with the program. Is that what you are saying?

No, never said that, never insinuated that. Never said Disney is never at fault. They are far from perfect. But when it comes to FP+ and on site guests those people do have the opportunity to know what's up.

I said that Disney does send multiple mailings to their on site guests telling them all there is to know about FP+ and that those people have no excuse for not knowing about it before they walk through the gates. Disney can not force people to read. All they can do is sent it out.

What more do you want them to do?

I remember last year when I went to Magic Kingdom. It was April, and before the entire Magic Band implementation. I entered the park, and I grabbed a fastpass for meeting the characters in the location just inside the park. I went, and rode Dumbo, did a few other things, and returned later to get my character meet and greet. It was great.

Seems to me the old system worked fine for meet and greets. However, that was before the popularity of Anna and Elsa.

Well, we talk to guests on every single trip, that think you have to pay for FPs. I think they confuse Disney with Universal. Lots of them are people that are there for the day or off-site. But, some are even onsite. With FP+ more people know. But, even on our last trip June/July, we never received anything from Disney regarding FP+. And, we have been going (and staying on property for 24 years). Fortunately, we read - a lot.

I am not sure it was 100% out of testing last June/July but for our trip starting Tuesday I have gotten numerous things. Including a magnet for the fridge that gave me the dates for making FP+ selections. It has Edna from Incredible's on it. Or was it Ms. Incredible? One of them

Tuesday of this week was the most recent communication. I got another email that gave me links to download MDE, make ADR, make FP, get MM. Granted, Tuesday of this week is too late to book many ADR or hard to get FP but they did send something.

ETA - the at home mailings have actually been a PITA. I've had to make sure DGD didn't see any of them. This trip is a surprise. I got to the point of being annoyed they sent so much back when it was time to book FP

I mean "acting" as a term encompassing the ability to portray a princess for hours and hours each day - charisma and the ability to play a part without breaking character. I didn't mean they had to be mini Meryl Streeps.

Maybe you think it would be easy to do the voices for your kids storybooks for eight or ten or twelve hours every day while also smiling perfectly for a thousand pictures, dealing effectively with people from infants to the elderly, handling a costume, makeup and wig, and staying in character 100% of the time. I don't. I don't think Disney thinks just anyone can do it, either.

Not last June/July -- just a few weeks ago 2014.

So if Disney has this great ability to communicate with guests, I wonder why they never tapped into that to let people know about the changes to the EMH schedule in coming months. :scratchin

The reason they didn't is because they don't want to tell guests anything remotely negative. It's the same reason they don't tell guests staying at monorail resorts when there will be substantial disruptions to the monorail schedule.

And it's the same reason they might tell people about this new appointment riding, but will neglect to tell them that there is no longer a standby option.

So you go and get a paper slip with a return time to come back and get in line? :scratchin

Some day. Hopefully some day really soon, all of this will be behind us. Magic Bands will be the best thing ever created. There will be no construction at the Magic Kingdom.

I hope I live that long.

No, I don't think that would be easy for everyone, but I certainly think there are MANY more than the current number of Elsas/Annas and Disney should have been hiring as many of them as possible since MARCH. The idea that there are only 10-12 ebullient, slender young women of average height with delicate features, a heart shaped face and blue eyes - which could be changed via contacts anyway. I don't think the current Elsas look particularly close to the animated version, so clearly they aren't THAT particular about looks.

Blasphemy!!! :scared1: But to their credit...they only give you a 30 minute window this time. Heaven forbid they totally backtrack. ;)
