No more Stanby line for A&E?

Well, since her res is 8:05am at CRT, she's anticipating already being at the castle at that time. (She said she's expecting to be let in a little early to make it back there in time for her res. Like 7:45ish? Maybe she's wrong about that?). She's thinking that she'd scoot over to PFH and grab two passes and then still make her res by 8:15ish. But, like me, she's a first timer and isn't 100% sure of distances, procedures, etc.

Maybe her plan should be to eat first and give the line a chance to build up and then go over there AFTER they eat. :confused3

I was always under the understanding that no A&E perks were given to early breakfast reserveration-holders. Even if you're in the park early, I'm pretty sure you're forced to wait until just after the rope drops in order to get access/service to the Princess Fairytale Hall.

It's an EMH morning. Park opens at 8 and, according to the Disney website, so does PFH. So I think her thought is that since she'll already be back there at 8 (for the 8:05 res) she could grab a pass for later. But the question is whether or not you can request a pass right from the get-go; Or if you have to wait until they decide the line is long enough. It might not be an answerable question at this point, given all the variables.

My FEELING is they consider the passes as a fall back position. And until the line grows long enough they won't give them out. Also I think the want to reduce the amount of bickering the CMs have to deal with (1230 return time but I'd like 1535 instead ). That sort of thing really slows down the process.

But yes your friend is on terra incognito.

It is equality.....old fashioned equality. The early bird catches the worm kind. Get there early or it will be gone.

I understand that not everyone likes that approach or agrees with it. But I bet there are lots of people that will be happy with this.

Actually, I completely agree.

And for the rest of you guys: mom2rtk was the first who saw it and posted. The rest of you were sleeping in and being lazy. ;)

I think you're probably right. Assuming this is still going on next week, her best option is probably to just play it by ear. She can always ask and then, if they say no, go back after bfast.

ETA: The scenario does solidify the point though that something like this can be a really attractive alternative to certain people.

no sleeping in or being lazy here - it went right over my head - but to be fair I have a cold so I'm not even sure of my own name right now!

C'mon, I was at a funeral.

Like a FUNERAL is a good excuse...
(dude - sorry)

Even from there I could feel the earth shake, like thousands of people were shifting their position to support Disney park management from the other side of an issue.

Best quote of the thread.

Late sleepers must wonder who their friends are these days. :coffee:
Oops - I stand corrected...

I am not sure what to think anymore. I don't like the idea in theory but it might help me this visit. I am offsite so slim chance at FP+ And I won't wait for 2 hours. Now I could have a chance with the new system should they keep it. I just have to join the frenzy at rope drop.

I'm not pinpointing you wdwgirl100 - but can I get a microphone here?
Let's start pulling up some threads last July/August.
I thought the WDW of 2014 was a next-gen-kinda-WDW. We are moving away from rope-drop drama, right?

It might not be an answerable question at this point, given all the variables.

Thank goodness DISboard people even KNOW to ask these questions.

I JUST gave a co-worked my Unofficial Guide for 2014. I told her to read it and let me know if she still wants to go. She and her DH "want to take the kids to Disney" before they are "too old" (10 & 13). I am at a loss as to how to help her understand what WDW is. So many folks have NO CLUE.

The best exit survey WDW could do right now only has to have 3 questions:
(1) Did you come wanting to see Anna & Elsa? If no, Have a Magical Day.
If yes, go to question (2).

(2) Did you see Anna & Elsa? If yes, Have a Magical Day. If no, go to questions (3).

(3) Whudoya think of Disney now? Are you feeling the Magic?

I think some are upset that it will be a mad rush to grab all these Fancy Legacy FP tickets and they may be gone for the entire day in the first hour or two of park opening meaning if that is your only Magic Kingdom day you are SOL to see Anna and Elsa even if you were willing to wait an hour or two.

Sounds like if you weren't there early it was going to be more than an hour or two.I say if the little munchkins want to see A &E,then get up early and get a time. This may force people to stop the madness and be sensible.waiting hours to see some one dressed up is silly.making children wait for hours in Florida heat is insane.I think Disney is trying to stop heat stroke by over indulgence.Everyone knows it's popular and everyone will not get a ticket, but at least you have a chance.

It's amazing the interest/popularity and buzz a WDW M&G creates on here, some parks need to spend millions on attractions that have 4 hour plus waits that break down and sends guests home and hardly gets any attention.

Talk about a business model dream come true. pixiedust:

You stand here and talk to kids as they come through, then take a pic with them. That's the whole attraction? Yep.

Since it sounds like they are just going to survey the people who actually used the return cards, I can see it will going like this:

What did you think of standby plus?

1) It was awesome

2) It was the best thing since sliced bread

3) It's better than Diagon Alley

I haven't slept in since August 2000.
(But I'm being lazy right now...):rolleyes1

:rotfl: Right there with you. I haven't slept in since 1993. Probably for the same reason.

Wow. Still on that kick are ya? :rolleyes1 As Elsa would say, "let it go".

And the Dole Whip is just pineapple and vanilla ice cream.
And the castle is just concrete bricks and mortar.
And FOTLK is just acrobats with fuzzy costumes.

See that's the thing-let it go if it's it UNI, but actually it just died on its own. WDW goes on and on and on-its awesome.

Yea that's the point-they have everyone by the you know whats.

This massive thread is exactly the buzz WDW can so easily create-must just drive the competition insane. :badpc:

This thread is almost like a family reunion except none of us have really aged that much. :wave2: Surferdave....can you send out a bat signal to Shaden?

Can't we all just get back to the "new paper Standby+ passes" and late sleeper debates? :goodvibes

You're on a roll... Why stop there?

No. No.
Ignore me. Do stop there. I don't want to get scolded and moderated. Oops. I need to find something productive to do.
I know. Plan my DLR vacation before FP+ seeps out there.
