No more segmented vacations for ddp

Or, if you prefer a specific example:

Menu price of meal: $100.
TIW price of meal: $80 ($100 - 20%)
Tax: $5.20 (6.5% of $80)
Service charge: $18 (18% of $100)
Total: $80 + $5.20 + $18, or $103.20

I usually round my TIW bills up some, because I tend to tip more than 18%. But, one certainly would not have to.

I agree. This is how it is calculated and I also add to the tip since I'd normally do 20%.

I just got off the phone with MS again about my October reservation. They will not let me book my already segemented stay the way I would like.

I want two days deluxe(which were already segmented from my 11 month window) and the remaining 6 nights regular dining. They said "all or nothing" no exceptions.

Yesterday when I called, I got a different story. She said I could do that, but I may be changing rooms. I wanted to talk that over with my husband first. Since he said ok, go with it, I called today to pay for it and was told NO.

I asked if I could not have the dining plan on the first night as your said above, and she said NO, it's all or nothing.

You can book separate reservations with separate numbers (not segmenting) and book separate plans. However, you have to do that from the beginning when you book the room. I am 30 days out and that is not possible.

Yes, unfortunately that is true... my ressie was booked that way from the beginning, so thye were able to do it.
Sorry it isn't working out for you. :guilty:

emailed ms yesterday...no reply yet......:confused3

the thing that really has me steamed is that 2 people are leaving 2 days early and they wont let me seperate the last 2 days...i'm not trying to get over on them...would still do the dining plan, just dont want to pay for people who wont be there to use it...not trying to do a day or two in the middle or seperate days

(on a side note, we got back tuesday night from VWL - never been in the summer before. were waiting for the boat back from mk and talked with the dockmaster for a few minutes. he told us that there was 2 fist fights on the ferry earlier that day, there was a fight for line cutting at an epcot bus stop, 2 women..in ther 30's or 40's fighting at the grand floridian...and a woman jumped off the ferry just as it docked at mk cause " her mother got her so angry". is this normal in the summer months? is it the heat an humidity down there? i guess at the end of the day people patience wears really thin. thats why i like the resort hotels, its much easier to get back to your room and take a break during the days to get refreshed)

I don't think it is the heat, I just think some people as a whole have no patience, impulse control or ability to discern appropriate behavior. Disney also doesn't make anyone be acountable for thier behavior. Punch a bus driver, get away with it. If Disney ever grows a backbone and enforces rules we would maybe see less of this. Many feel as though anything goes and that makes things a whole lot less magical for the majority of people who are around them. I've been going inthe summer for over 10 years, people have become more rude and Disney has gotten more lax in crowd control.

I just got home and saw this glaring post... Forgive me for asking this question to those that have a similar stay to mine. MS is closed until tomorrow and before I freak out and start to worry about $$ (we are footing the bill for family) maybe someone can put me at ease for just the moment. I'm a freak and I will still call tomorrow, this is really for my fiance so I can stop being a crack head :)

Here is our info:
10/12-10/14 - 2br stay at SSR 3 adults
10/15 - 10/19 - 2br stay at AKL - 5 adults (2 of which will leave 1 day early)

Oh - 1 reservation number :(

I only want the qsdp on the AKL stay. Am I going to have to pay for the dp for both hotels?? I understand I will have to pay for all adults for all days at AKL, I came to terms with that and let that go....just dont want to pay for it at SSR.....

Any help would be great....
Thank you!

it shouldnt matter if it's one reservation number because you are changing hotels.....unless of course they wake up tomorrow and decide to change that........:rotfl2::woohoo:

But that is not what I was told. I was told I could add it to either segment. I understand the "loophole" is closed, and segmented reservations won't be allowed anymore. I just think Disney should honor the existing segmented reservations and allow us to purchase what we were told we could purchase, not force us to purchase more if we want the DDP.
My guess is that DVC didn't have a choice, that they were told NO MORE. I suspect this was never OK with the Disney section that is in charge and when they found out about it, ...wham. Certainly all the problems and issues with it and them deciding it was not worth continuing is just as feasible.

My guess is that you will be able to add the qsdp to the AKV stay, but it will be for all the guests for 4 nights (checking out on 10/19, right?) So you will have extra credits to use up before your guests leave.

Okay, sorry to interrupt the tip discussion, but I did finally get things worked out with DVC concerning upcoming trip, segmented stay, and DDP. First, this is how my situation unfolded.

1) Called at 7 months and booked a 2 night stay at BCV and another 1 night stay at BWV. We have done split stays for years so we could see more resorts AND so we could get DDP for part of the trip and enjoy fine dining some without having to eat nonstop every day of our trip. SO these were booked as 2 separate ressies.

2) My wife decided she would like to not have to move on the last night to BWV, and so I got on wait list for BVC for last night... it came through and so we had 2 ressies at BCV back to back... or at least we thought we did.

3) DVC, in their infinite wisdom decided to think for me, and the system merged my 2 ressies in to 1 "segmented" ressie.

4) When I called this AM to check on the DDP and get it booked just for my 1st ressie (2 night stay), they informed that since the system merged them, it was now 1 ressie and I had to book DDP for all 3 nights.

5) I politely asked to speak to supervisor (mainly because I wanted to verify that if I had, or will in the future, book 2 separate ressies, could I get DDP on only one ressie like I had in the past). The CM came back and said he had spoken again to a supervisor, and because my segmented ressie included a 1-day stay at the end, and that was the one I wanted no DDP for, they could do it for me. SO i was able to book DDP for just the 2 night stay.

A couple things for those out there still wondering if you can do anything.

1) They told me that if you are trying to avoid the DDP on your first night or on your last night (maybe you fly in late or leave early...), they can accommodate you and not book DDP for every night of your ressie. So for some of you that segmented, you may still be able to avoid DDP on the last segment or the 1st segment if they are only 1 night segments. Just ask.
BUT they made it clear, if you booked one of these 5 segment deals for a 5 night stay and want to skip days in middle or keep switching back and for the (DDP, then DxDDP, then DDP etc.) this would not be doable. They expressed that this approach was creating all kinds of problems so that's why they changed. Of course, we don't know for sure if that was it, but does makes sense.

2) They did say "yes" if I book in the future, all I have to do is make sure they book separate ressies (not segmented) and I can still get DDP on them as individual stays. Of course, that may change some day as well, but for now still fine.

3) Be polite! Seriously folks, I was as upset as many of you... I got up early to book at 7 months... got up early to do ADR's at 180 days... I worked hard to make this a special once-in-a-lifetime holiday trip to WDW. And this abrupt change messed everything up. Bottom line, DVC is or was not in control of this change (at least we have no evidence it was their choice), but clearly they want to help if they can, so be nice and give them more of a reason to help.

Good luck everyone! :thumbsup2

Well, you are definitely lucky. I have one night at the end where I don't want the DDP, but I have been told 3 times in the last 24-hours that it is impossible. I'm seriously thinking about changing resorts just to avoid having to add it for the whole stay.

I was told the same thing yesterday about not having it the first night

Alright so I am confused now...

Some people are saying you can't segment at all...
Some people are saying you can segment as long as you are willing to make 2 reservations and possible change rooms
Some people are saying the no segmenting rule is not a hard rule and some CM's make exceptions...

Can anyone sum up to clarify the current interpretation of the rule?:confused3

See the earlier part of your post for the current interpretation. In other words, it varies.

This is a textbook example of Disney refusing to grow a pair and universally enforce one set of rules--for better or worse. Until further notice, the valid approach would seem to be to keep calling back until you get your way.

Is dropping the first or last night of the plan part of the equation now?

WOW What an issue here. Just my two cents....

I think DVC/DIsney should allow those already segemented to add the DDP upon the segemented sections. That seems fair.

I think DVC/Disney is right to stop this all together. I would have liked the option and I now have to tell my Dsis that her reservation in November will NOT be able to be split up like I told her LAST week after discovering it on the DisBoards. But I think it was an option that was a nightmare for MS, for front desk and for guests. I also think it was used and abused by some members.

I would be curious to know those of you who segemented your reservation in hopes of splitting the DDP up over your trip IF you learned of this option for the FIRST time by looking at the DIS boards or if you were making a reservation and the MS agent offered this to you.

If indeed you learned of this new "Function" from the DISboards then I think DVC has been once again hit with the "OH crap those people on the DIS have figured out how to milk the system again and are posting it to the boards". I for one did not know until within the last few weeks that this could be done. I of course learned it here, called MS to ask for my Dsis upcoming trip and used the magic word of "segment". Unfortunately we did not follow through and segment and pay for DDP so my DSis is out of luck. She will be dissappointed but I don't think it was something DVC promised me. It was simply something they could do at that time. IF I had not wanted to wait for various reasons (wasn't sure of how I wanted broken up, wasn't sure if I was going, didn't want to pay for it now...ETC) then I would indeed have the trip booked as I like.

I understand the frustration. I was one of those who had booked a DREAM cruise on cash and called to convert it to points on the day they decided the Dream couldn't be booked on points for almost a year!! SO I have been affected by the "immediate policy change". It stinks and in that case No where did I see in the materials I bought with DVC did it say they could suspend you using your points for the Disney Collection (or just because Jim Lewis wants to). So really I do sympathize with all of you affected by this:grouphug:

As of yesterday afternoon when I called, the answer is NO. I was told "it's all or nothing, no exceptions!"

Yep, me too!

I never segmented my reservation, but it was set up so that I could've easily added the ddp to my first night. I booked my room for 13 nights at the 11 month window, then went back with different points and booked an additional night for the start at the 7 month window. All along I had a 1 night and a 13 night. Somewhere they put them under both numbers, even though I used different points and booked at different times. I called about adding the ddp to my 1 night reservation and was even willing to move, but told no, all or nothing. Next time I'll book a couple of nights at a different resort and MAKE sure they don't put the same reservation number on it. So I never segmented my reservations as they were segmented naturally.

I actually already had my reservations segmented the way we wanted. They I just found out on Tuesday that they are no longer letting us segement.

It really annoys me because I made all my reservations with the expectation that I would have the deluxe for a few days in the beginning and regular dining for the remainder of the week. We usually do it that way.

All my reservations were made 6 months ago and now that I am 30 days from my vacation, I find out I can't do the deluxe for the first few days. Now I have to try and change my reservations during food and wine and the holiday weekend! Good luck with that!

Yep, us too. I will be taking a look at my ADRs and making modifcations now. We often like to do the delux ddp at the beginning of our trip to have some nice meals. I see alot of ADRs getting cancelled now! I am lucky though, because I'm also a TIW cardholder, so I'll still keep a few of my ADRs. I leave in 5 weeks from tomorrow! Actually this was the last time I was going to do the partial delux ddp because of the price increase for next year, so it just ended a little sooner.
