No more Safeway delivery?

People over on the Yacht & Beach Club thread are reporting that they tried to get grocery delivery from Safeway but are getting emails saying that Safeway will no longer deliver to that area.

I haven't seen that mentioned over here. Anybody else having that issue? I wonder if it is a weird error for Yacht/Beach Club, or a change in policy.

Can somebody remind me of what the other options are for grocery delivery? The ones I remember are:
- Dizzy Dolphin
- Garden Grocer
- Amazon Prime Now
- WeGoShop which has been double-billing people so I personally would avoid them.

(I know you can rent a car, take a cab/Uber/Lyft, or get a towncar from the airport with a grocery stop. I'm looking specifically for delivery to Disney DVC resorts.)

We have used InstaCart our last 2 trips and have been very satisfied. Both times I did my “shopping” at Publix beforehand. That day of you get a text from your shopper letting you know they are picking up your items - they also ask if they need to do sub. At the appointed time, delivery is made. Very well done and you can usually work it so the delivery fee gets waived (first customer, promos, etc.).

I received an email last night saying that Safeway grocery delivery in the Disney World area would be discontinued on July 7, 2018. We've been using Safeway for the past year or so and I thought it was great.

I've used prime now, but it was before they had Whole Foods. The selection wasn't great back then and the packaging of the food was a little strange (lots of ice packs and many bags). I've also used WeGoShop a few times which was ok.

Walmart has started delivering groceries. I'm also thinking about using Publix through Instacart or maybe Dizzy Dolphin.

Safeway?? I live really close to WDW and have not seen a Safeway since I left my home state in a completely different part of the country!

We used Safeway delivery last Thanksgiving for our WDW trip. I though it was great. I got the email as well that they were stopping the service. Fortunately we don’t have any trips planned with the kids in the near future so we won’t need it.

Walmart grocery delivery is also an option. Be sure to use the Walmart Grocery app.

Publix has purchased the remaining Safeway stores in Florida. Those Safeway stores will be closed later this summer. Safeway's grocery delivery services were terminated as soon as the purchase was announced.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the three Safeway locations they purchased as there is a Publix very close to each.

One of the employees at our local Publix said the Safeway near us (Altamonte Springs) might be converted to a Publix GreenWise (organic) Market.

macman752 beat me to this. I live here (near Clearwater) and our local Safeway is closing at the end of August as Publix has bought them. They are beginning to liquidate their stock here on July 18th and plan on closing by August 28th.
Walmart delivers, Publix delivers, Amazon and of course, garden grocer. I've very sad as outside of Sam's or Costco, Safeway had the best steaks around at way better prices than the others.
Price of change I guess.

I posted in another thread about our unpleasant experience with ordering Safeway 3 weeks ago. The gist of it I got a confirmation email, but then the order wasn't showing in "My Orders". So I email them night before we left and called while on the ME and spent 30 min on hold before giving up. Groceries never showed up and never got any kind of reply from customer service. The only email I received was over this past weekend stating deliveries were no longer available in that area. Guessing this merger had something to do with our experience.
