So wasn’t sure if I should post this or not so take it with a grain of salt. One of my Uber drivers also works for Disney in room service. (She now works elsewhere in the park). She said she doesn’t believe disney is ever bringing back room service. She said that prior to the pandemic Disney was looking at ways to cut room service (maybe just at value resorts) then during the pandemic all room service workers were either laid off or put elsewhere and then months later told their position would not be coming back. She worked in room service management and said according to cdc guidelines they could have done room service during the pandemic by leaving it outside the door. She said she believes the pandemic gave Disney the where with all to cut room service all together and she has heard it isn’t coming back to the resorts that cut it during the pandemic.

I used in room dining at yacht club in January and March. All the food was packaged in to go containers. The room service CM did not enter the room. CM kept the rolling table between the two of us at the door. There was no in room dining at BWV in March though, but I think that was due to the resort side not being open yet.

GF/GFV and YC/BCV (and now BC w/ today’s reopening) have both offered room service since reopening, and are the only resorts currently offering room service. The rationale as most tend to believe is that since both were host NBA resorts prior to reopening, they each had sufficient dining staff/facilities open to accommodate room service.

They have not offered it at CSR (also a NBA host resort prior to opening), but food operations at CSR are run by La Palma so possibly have other influences/decision making in terms of room service.

To me, the fact that it returned immediately at GF/GFV and YC/BC/BCV, are good indications Disney will eventually return to full room service operations at the Deluxes and CSR (called Private Dining using Disney’s term), particularly when the various resort kitchens return to full operation.

I could maybe see them continuing the disposable delivery packaging that they’ve been using and dropping real plates/cutlery like traditional room service, but TBD on that of course. It sure does create a lot of waste.

“In-Room Dining” - the limited room service offering (think pizza, chicken tenders, etc) offered at the Values and Moderates (other than CSR) - seems like something that could be more debatable. Maybe I’m wrong, but doesn’t seem like something that would be particularly high on Disney’s list to devote time/personnel to restarting at the moment.

We’ve tried in In-Room dining on 2 different trips at Yacht Club last October and February. We could never get anyone to answer the phone. Oh Well.

Ive never even tried….or considered ordering room service. Now that I think of it, I don’t think I even thought of it LOL

Add me to the “never thought of it”. There are so many options at Disney and so much to see and do I cannot imagine thinking “Hey, let’s order food to the room and eat here!”

Maybe it is being in a small apartment where pretty much everything is in the same room, but o don’t get the appeal/excitement of ordering food that inevitably is way more expensive than just going somewhere JUST to eat it in your room.

We've enjoyed it, Disney and elsewhere. It was especially helpful after a day of travel, especially when my kids were younger. When they were younger it was so much easier to eat in the room. It's worked nicely in the morning too as my kids like to sleep in know that they ate older. I love going our to eat as well, but not leaving the room is nice at times too.

After an afternoon spent at the pool with younger kids, in room dining was convenient for us because the kids were tired and didn’t want to go anywhere. We sat at the kitchen table to eat and it was a low key meal the night before we left. YMMV.

It seems like most of the room service options are at hotels that can host conventions? I may be wrong about that though. I would think convention goers would want room service options-I think Disney probably makes enough from conventions that they would want to keep their business.

I do it for breakfast some mornings when I'm just too lazy to get it in gear and move or on my last day. I also do it for supper some nights when I've gone back to the room to rest and decided I'm too tired to go back to the parks or even move out of my room.

Honestly is never been a thought. Does every resort offer it? I’ve never even looked

All of them do in theory but the offerings vary wildly based on resort category. Deluxes tend to have your standard sort of hotel room service menus, generally served from the casual TS restaurant (Kona at Poly, GF Cafe at GF etc). From what I understand Values & Mods typically have pizza and wings, but I’m not sure.

Okay. I know about the pizza delivery but that’s it. The only deluxe I typically stay at is AKL but usually were moderate people.

Yeah, the deluxes are the only ones that have actual room service…I think everywhere else it’s just the pizza delivery.

As the OP said, "take it with a grain of salt." I would put information from UBER driver just below Disney bus driver.:drive::car:
For sure. We’ve taken multiple Uber/Lyft rides around WDW since reopening and the amount of bad info being doled out is crazy. One tried to tell me Boardwalk was closed even though we were staying there.

edit: to be fair part of it was closed but she was convinced the entire resort including DVC wasn’t operating.

They are offering mobile to go orders from some of the TS restaurants at the resorts. We took advantage of it once on our last trip. Ha
